Omg this works so well I just did the blow drying step and it got most of it off by itself, now I’m coming back to find the next step so I don’t screw it up. Also you are really funny, you should really post more videos, I can see a lot of people liking you :)
Thanks a lot man. You have no idea how frustrated I got before I thought there must be a better way and found this video. Also my 2 cents. Once it is hot, instead of using the scraper, try pulling it out with fingers while heating the area just where it is coming unstuck. Works way easier once you have about an inch or 2 pulled as it saves your hands from the hot air.
A million thanks for this wonderful solution. I had tried goof off, Dawn dish liquid and it was not working. I had put double stick tape on a metal door in my apartment, and it was a mess. I am sooò grateful. Keep up the good work.
Finally something that works easy. Thank you so much Elliot I have been trying everything suggested and making a career out of scrubbing and peeling little sections at a time. Your video helped me out. This works great! Again, thanks so much now I can move on to bigger and better things around my house.
Thank you Mr. Sherman, I have been trying to remove double sided tape from a wall and nothing had worked but, I tried your system and it finally worked, thanks for your great idea!!! BiBi from Buenos Aires, Argentina
Thank you so much for your help. You did such a wonderful job . Worked beautiful, thanks again, greatly appreciated. Have a wonderful day, Merry Christmas Linda
I appreciate it because i’m in a place that would’ve charged me an arm and a leg. I had no idea how hard it was to get this stuff off. I thought they were made easy to remove.
You can do it in half the time if you put a thin piece of toilet paper and apply the heat of an iron for a while. Then you scrape it with regular masking tape. The scraper can scratch the surface of the wall. Just my 2 cents as another option.
I used terpentine with cotton/sponge and it worked like a magic.Soak it 2-3 minutes and then rub it. Used it to remove ikea mirror from wooden surface.
Thank you so much! Got a loooot on my walls from being a dumb young kid and putting posters up with it that I need to get off and this gives me a lotta hope.
Thank you! When I bought my townhouse, I painted everything but the closets. I put un an Angel light in the downstairs closet. The light fell off, but not the double sided tape pad. Now I know how to get it off and then paint the closet. Again, thank you!
That was easy, thank you so much. I had a wooden glass holder stuck on counter top in the motorhome with double sided tape, I don´t anymore, left a nice clean top. thank you.
Same here. Immediately come down to the comments section to ask if americans actually call it that. Seems so weird to me for some reason. Anyway, the video was exactly what I was looking for.
I think my heat gun would probably do better. But I will have to be careful since it is like a little oven. I have WD-40 and a wide putty knife so I'm good to go. Thanks for great advice.
mine was on a ceramic backsplash and i had already spent an hour wetting everything down and pulling off the big pieces and then went and grabbed my wd40 and whalla the rest came off no problem. TYTY!
For you pot smokers this will also remove resin from any hard surface. Just substitute the wd with a cleaner although wd40 will work fine if you don’t mind the smell for a day or two until it evaporates.
Do uou know how to get brown parcel tape off fibreglass ie, my motorhome body? I was attack while abroad and had to stick my window back on till I got home but the tape won't come off.
wow you make it look so easy, i have the exact same tape on my wall and it wont come off! it gets soft but soon as you scrape it it just smudges, ive tried white vinegar, hair dryer, scraper, wet cloth, dry cloth, nothing works
ok, for anyone who needs this info, i used white spirit, soaked a t-shirt, massaged it into the adhesive whilst listening to lionel richie, waited 2 mins, up and down motion, (keep it sexy) but go like crazy a bit, give that wall a good time, not too much pressure tho gym dude's cos you'll take the paint off but it will work, if it doesn't well.....you're screwed haha, good luck youtubers!
This is just what I needed to see. Thank you so much. Quick question though if you don't mind? How do you get the item that you've stuck to the wall off before having to attempt removing the goo off the wall? I stuck 2 solar security lights to my gutters with that nano tape stuff and I need to take them down to replace the batteries but they are well and truly stuck! (It certainly is good sticking stuff, but by golly, it's a nightmare to undo what you've done).
If this is an outdoor application it may be that you used a different kind of tape, wd40 may do the trick, if it doesnt you may want to use an adhesive removing agent
Wow! Never thought to use WD-40. Is there anything that stuff can't do? Question - Do you know if this hack works on painted dry wall and/or painted cinder block? Thanks!
I don't know about painted drywall or cinder block, give it a try on a discreet area, I hope it works for you! What I do know is that WD-40 is not water-based and drywall is sensitive to water so you might have a good chance of that
This won’t scratch or we’re off the paint will it. Didn’t look like it. I needed to find a goos way with out damaging the paint because I live in the apartment so we can’t repaint.
Does the Wd40 leave an oily residue on drywall that's painted white with a thin coat of cheap paint? Would the WD40 make it turn yellow? Sorry, I can't tell from your video. I have to buy some strong tape to hold plastic to prevent drafts because the removable kind keeps falling off & unfortunately, it has to go onto the drywall of my rental. I could do some touch up paint, but anything that would be extremely visible after I paint it would make me lose a chunk of my security deposit. It has to cover a broken through the wall A/C unit. So, I'll be leaving the tape & plastic up for 18 months( if it will stay up that long, but I doubt that.) Any suggestions of a brand or type of tape would be extremely helpful as I have to order some online as soon as possible. Thanks for the tips!
To be honest i would not reccomend the plastic and double sided tape to solve the problem unless the draft is not strong or you are going to add a few screws in there cause the tape can just rip the dry wall paper cover off. To fill a screw hole in dry wall is easy to do and is not time consuming check this tutorial www.diynetwork.com/how-to/rooms-and-spaces/walls-and-ceilings/how-to-repair-cracks-and-holes-in-drywall if it feels difficult for you there could be another solution. Sorry for the late reply
My issue is the picture is still on the wall and I can’t remove the pictures without pulling the wall apart. I have no access to the tape until the picture is gone. They are plastic frames and somewhat thick I won’t be able to get the tape and adhesive hot. Any other ideas? Maybe sliding
I just watched another video and the guy said keep the blow dryer on low heat and don’t use WD-40 because it will stain the wall so I don’t know what to believe.
@@elliotsherman9894 WD-40. I went to the store specifically to get it. The double adhesive was removed no problem, but the stain remained, no matter how much dish soap and water I used.

This will come in handy thanks for the tip!!!
Thanks man
Note: I used paint thinner instead of WD40, in my case it was on ceramic wall and boom ... finally gone after many failed attempts.
شكراً.

Great hack! Looks easy :)
Your video saved me!!! Thank you so much! WD40 is really a magical product with even more applications than what I thought!
Thanks Elliot, nice tip re WD40 and the adhesive removal 💨💨👍
Great tutorial! Thank you!
Thank you. Appreciate the informative tutorial. 🌻
Thank you ! I was trying to wipe it with hot water but water gets cold very quick
Great job this is I'm looking for thanks for this help idea
Tysm Man U just saved my wall :D
Cool , thanks man!
WD 40
hair dryer fan
Clean dry cloth
Scraper
Thanks
I've never heard it called a hair fan before, always called it a hair dryer . thanks for the video, I hate these foam sticky pads.
Haha hair fan
Same here. Immediately come down to the comments section to ask if americans actually call it that. Seems so weird to me for some reason. Anyway, the video was exactly what I was looking for.
@@homicidal85 Never heard anyone in the US say "hair fan" for dryers so he may be joking or it's a very regional saying.
ok
I'd recommend washing the WD40 off with soap and water. That's (solvent and) light oil, which can't be good for paint.
Great tips worked a treat for me thanks
Thanks man, deposit saver

What can you recommend if I have to remove tape on a plastic surface? I guess hair dryer is not advisable to use...
Fml I mounted my nano leafs wrong on the wall and now I know I can do this 😭😭thank you
This was so helpful thank you!
Gosh you are my hero, the underside and side of my desk was covered with 3m double sided tape

thank you man thanks alot broooooo
Going to try it now.

so what kind of tape are you removing? is it 3m tape...?

Hi, thank you for the tip. Can you put the link of the product? There are different products that called WD40
it is the basic WD40 you can get it any hardware store
Darn it need this for my workplace would hot water work?
What did you use to fix the parts that already peeled the paint off?
Just plain filler

You use the WD-40 if you are going to repaint the wall. This guy was prepping for a paint job.
wow tnx bro
What time of heat mode do you use?
Highest heat
I might use heat to get hot glue off my wall, too !
Hey, quick question. What do I do with the stains left by the WD40? after removing the adhesive, now I have the dripping stains from the WD40.
i used some dishwasher soap and water
@@elliotsherman9894 I did that and nothing. The stains are still there.
@@SilverKyria
Did you use wd 40? Or something else?
@@elliotsherman9894 WD-40. I went to the store specifically to get it. The double adhesive was removed no problem, but the stain remained, no matter how much dish soap and water I used.
@@SilverKyria try using rubbing alcohol..I hope it will I had no issues, this could be because of the type of wall paint you have
How does the paint stay afterwards because of the WD-40
After I scrubbed a bit with water and dish soap wd40 didn't leave to much residue
The paint came right off with it for me
Wd 40 can also be a paint remover on certain surfaces but it depends on the type of paint
I would like to see you paint over the surface you just prepped. WD stands for water displacement. How is water going to remove it from the wall?
side note= is your blower on high or medium heat or cold?????
try both levels of heat since it depends on the tape you may find that it comes off on medium
Pure alcohol shifts it very easily. You have to buy it online, don't think you can buy it in a shop. My son bought it and it's great for this.
