- Welcome back to Armageddon commander! This week, we played some games of ‘Battle for Armageddon’, a strategic board and counter game designed by Jervis Johnson in 1992. This game is genuinely EPIC in scope, allowing two players to take control of millions of soldiers and war machines across the embattled hive world of Armageddon. A strong nostalgia hit!
I also painted up Ghaghkull Mag Uruk Thraka himself, the scourge of the Imperium and prophet of da Waaagh! for / legionnaire_minis .

The old Armageddon boardgame is so much fun! During the 3rd Armageddon War global campaign, GW released the bits for it for free to print off yourself, which is where my copy comes from. Last time I played was last year against my brother - I, playing the Orks, had stormed Infernus and Helsreach, and my Evil Sunz boyz were closing in on Hades. Fortunately for him, this was just when the Space Marines arrived: he landed all three Chapters in Hades, making it almost unassailable to me: 21 defence-points worth of troops, who'd never retreat, thanks to Yarrick! Rather than press the assault, I consolidated my siege lines, while simultaneously launching assaults against Acheron and Tartarus - both these attacks were a bit risky, as I only had a few vanguard units in these areas, but the Imperial defences were also much flimsier than those at Hades. Acheron fell, bringing me to the critical level of three fallen Hives: enough to win a victory for the Orks!
Glorious! I've only had a few games, but it is fantastic fun and really well designed. The first game was a spectacular imperial victory, with the space marines drop assaulting right into the Ork starting position and cutting their supply lines completely. The second was a real nail biter, but James had learned his lesson and crushed the imperials, aided by a merciless speed waargh that roved around the wastes trashing my factories...

Hell yeah, these old commercials hit like a truck. Any plans on future battle reports or other 2nd edition armies? I can't get enough of this stuff. Great work as always!

I found my old 2nd Ed Gazghull & Makari models last year while clearing out my parents garage. I remember they cost me the princely sum of £6 for the blister and I think it was the first thing I bought after GW switched from lead to white metal. Technically they're the best painted models in my old horde.
Such a lovely model too! Tempted to purchase another for my own growing Ork horde.

REALLY enjoyed this one. The chop and change editing was an interesting choice - it let you cover a lot of different content without wasting time on segue. It did meant I had to watch the video twice (something I rarely do - but it does put your video up in the leagues of Fury Road) but that is probably good for my algorithm and your metrics?

this was interesting editing wise, im not for me it flowed well from one to the other as it broke up the narrative of the story of the game a little too much for myself. What feel were you trying to go for out of interest? maybe if you do this style again structuring it like a tv show where there are only 3 "commercial breaks" 1 at the start, 1 in the middle and 1 at the end after the narratives done. I dont know :D
Painting was proper good of coursed and i loved seeing that metal lead get a right propa paint job!
Cheers for the comment Andy! By way of explanation, I didn't want to commit to a video solely on either, so hedged my bets and the 'hopping' allowed me to avert segues and skip over laborious parts. It's early days for this channel and I'm still playing around with the format - having a bit of fun and seeing what sticks! Yours is really useful feedback and I appreciate your honesty. My wife felt the same way!

Lovely work with the model but the audio spikes on the static when you flash the old commercials are so loud I thought they were going to blow out my speakers. :(
