Falling in Love with Soft Pastels - What I've learned so far | girl portrait

- I've been diving deeper into portrait art in soft pastel, and I really like it! This portrait I worked on with PanPastels and pastel pencils. Now I am actually curious about soft pastel sticks ... The journey continues. :)
Materials I used:
PanPastel, set of 10
Stabilo CarbOthello pastel pencils, set of 60
Clairefontaine Pastelmat paper
and some Faber Castell Polychromos color pencils for those super fine details

You have a sophisticated technic in coloring your artwork. You must be proud of the result. The eyes looks so deep and the lip is so natural 👍❤

Thank you, Ruth! I took care to study the subtle tone variations. There were no strong shadows, which I now realize makes color portraits pretty difficult. 😅 But I learned a lot through this portrait I think. I'm getting hooked on soft pastels! Next up: a comparison of pastel sticks from different brands. They arrived in the mail today, I'm so excited! 😊😁 RUclips hasn't notified me lately on any videos from you, so I'll go check on them myself now. 😊

I'm leaning towards
Pan pastels I've been drawing in colour pencil but I'm drawn to these for underpainting and also expressive work
They are definitely a timesaver for underpaintings und fun for expressive strokes. Hope you'll enjoy them!

@@oilonpaper I've been swamped with so much work that I find it hard to keep to a regular upload schedule in my channel. Most of my recent projects just take too much time to build, like the miniature dollhouses. There's just not enough hours in a day :)
@@GingerUmali At the end of the day, enjoying making things is more important than keeping a schedule because it's good for your mental health. :) So try to go with the flow, the uploads will follow. :)
