Im trying to get a junior frontend react job for like 2 years. Had maybe like 2 phone calls... I had to switch to digital marketing because they hired me without any experience! Crazy world..
Exactly I had an entry level job but that had a mass layoff and can't find anything else except the higher up positions. I gotta get more skills and credentials to apply for those now...

Front desk receptionists jobs is a low skill entry job but yet some places are literally asking for associates degree for that position ….like why tf do I need a degree to just sit down all day welcoming people in 🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️
Yeah, true, but maybe high school diplomas don't mean much now, as schools pass people too easily, and the Associates shows some dedication, effort, and respect to others, as well as some skill in reading, writing, and math - it also shows some ambition to do well in life, and you're likely a bit more mature (it's illegal to ask about age in the US, so they come up with other, similar measures). Like, a desk receptionist, who's motivated, might do lots of things beside sit at the desk, when there's a need, and they're the first person outsiders see in a business, so the owner doesn't want a worker who says "why tf did you come here today..." If you pass a few college classes, it shows you're a bit more trustworthy - that's the idea... but, definitely, there should be other ways to show a business owner you're trustworthy. Anyway, good luck. Oh, last thought - I suppose it's possible that the front desk receptionist, at some businesses, might be the first role / "entry" position, while you get to know the company, and the company sees how you are, and later you might move up to other positions (that's why it's entry, as in you're maybe going much further later) - so they like to start with people who seem to have the potential to move up, do other things in the company later. By the way, I have lots of degrees (can you guess from all the writing?) and very little to show for it with a career. The most money I made was working for the military a while (if you do this - save your paychecks! So many other guys wasted all their cash on strip clubs and such... saving when you can helps a lot later). Having degrees definitely isn't everything. Enough rambling - have a good one.
@@stephenmontague6930having a degree means nothing. All of my colleagues were a bunch of dipshits that had to pay the professors just to pass a simple math exam. And they definitely didn't show any dedication because all they did was get drunk, get high, and gamble all day long. College means absolutely nothing. It shows you did the bare minimum for 4 years and you somehow managed to pass. Instead, "talent acquisition specialists" should actually sit down and recruit some talented people. @@sohigh7433 Understand your point, like I said, I have a lot of degrees and it hasn't helped much, for years now, but like you said it does show that somehow you passed and finished something that takes, at least some time and resources - not everyone has enrolled in and passed 48 credit hours (just guessing that number) and yeah, that's not gonna be the only standard, but it's one way to help find people. A 2 year degree for an admin desk job isn't terribly demanding of the employer, that's all I'm saying, since the OP seemed to be shocked that it could be this way, just offering ideas to help play "devil's advocate" (show what they're thinking, even if you don't like em), cuz understanding all this is one step to figuring out what to do. It's hard to find a livable wage in my area. I found a very good opportunity for $20 an hour with overtime and an opportunity like that is very hard in my town. The average rent is $800 a month, so $12 an hour doesn't help when you include utilities, loan payments, family, and groceries. With a low paying job, the only way to make it is to have a roommate. Recruiters are useless 😂 At this point we need a Universal Basic Income and we're better off just demanding that from our country than looking for a job. Think about it: the country has the money, it gives so much to other countries. A job should be a right yet companies can reject people for any reason (ie despite discrimination laws they can still reject applicants who are a certain race or gender, if they are too old, if a woman is around the age to have kids, or if a woman doesn't wear makeup, etc.) and even the easiest jobs don't pay enough for basic needs. If you think we should hustle and work to the bone for rent and food then that's the problem and sadly the mindset of these companies and arguably our own government l But, we can change that.

So....nice sentiment....but with online and robots....you have no chance. And alot of companies won't accept referrals. And living in Canada as a man....makes you more undesirable.
It’s politics all about who you know vs if you are actually qualified
It's hard for me to network because I live in a small town that doesn't have many software engineers. I've tried networking online, but so far that hasn't helped
Aint that the truth i don’t have friends or people i know who can get me into a job so its even harder when you have no network getting a job by yourself is like trying to win the lottery
@@NightmareTrash88I do. A friend once referred me. They still fucked me over. One of the interviewers even shook my hand, looked me in the eyes and promised I'd definitely receive feedback from them. I received absolutely nothing. They just play with people's lives at this point.

If your someone who need a job, any f'n job. Broke. Hard up. Starting from scratch. Indeed is not the place. Its demoralizing even. Trying to get on my feet and all the postings are for people already ahead. Technicians, medical staff, accounting. Get the f out a here with that. Those people dont even get those jobs by going on indeed. Wheres the REAL WORK?

But remember you can buy a bag of potatoes chops for $ 4.99 because of all that delicious Outsourcing.
Righttt indeed is trash bro where is the real jobs???
I feel better I'm not the only one struggling with this
This doesn’t work either… they will usually tell me that they don’t have any jobs
I am still looking for an extra regular job which is so draining. My pc breaks and applying online is dreadful. I don’t know if staffing agency’s are reliable. So much rejections for a real job. Luckily I have a pt side job. Sadly I am not making enough sustainable income. Everyone is looking for any job right now. 😞
Do independent contractor jobs it works for me
@@Jac735 where do you find those
Contrary to popular belief, a common field is difficult to get into in an overpopulated city like nyc
I have been looking for a job for over 5 months now, I have put in over 200 applications, tried walking in and asking but nothing has worked
Dude leaving gems!!!
Recruiters are useless 😂
At this point we need a Universal Basic Income and we're better off just demanding that from our country than looking for a job.
You are completely right, it is the government’s fault that the world is like this right now, them and the secret elite families running the world right now. They dont give a shit about what happens to us normal citizens. It’s going to get real bad, like REAL bad soon. You have operatives saying to get out of the U.S SOON. I tried applying to federal law enforcement and to my dismay and research in the hiring process, I found out some dirty secrets. The media says on thing on the news, but something else is truly going in behind the scenes. Much like this terrible job market right now. Something is NOT RIGHT. LEAVE the U.S!
This is true I have gotten offers despite not Meeting the gpa cut off ( taking mandatory calc and science classes messed up gpa lol ) only due to getting referrals! I talk about my passions my work ethic and my goals and employees seem to like me and refer me
This video is from 2021 The market is totally different in 2014
Dude Ive used LinkedIn and put all kinds of applications in. How hard is it for a digital electronics technician15yr/ tier 2 mechanic 10yr. I guess idk what I’m doing when it comes to finding a job lol
Brush your hair. Strong posture. Good eye contact. Firm handshake. And you tell the boss " I work here now"
With your experience your the equivalent of a high school dropout with 3 baby mamas. Getting a job now isn’t about your experience anymore, it’s about if you can suck off the organization well enough.
Referrals don't work all the time. There are times when you have a really good number of referrals and still not get shortlisted for an interview.
LinkedIn is useless 😅

So you're saying search for recruiters for the specific job on LinkedIn, then use them as a referral??
Exactly. He didn't really elaborate. Lol. Get referred by a complete stranger. I think they're called recruiters
Referrals also depends on whether the person considers you to be referred.
Nobody in my social circle has ever referred me as of 2024. But yet I'm a hardworker and I deliver what I say. Either they're jealous or they have forgotten about me purposely.
In my experience I've got interviews and jobs through a recruiter who specialises in that area.
I got hired as a Budtender not too long ago, I walked in, and they said they were looking for people, I dropped off a resume and a cover-letter and I emailed the main person introducing myself. About a week later I sent another e-mail inquiring, and about 2 weeks later I got called for an interview, did my best and thankfully I got hired on. Now I sell marijuana. Loving it.
Great stuff

Are you trying to Jedi mind trick me with Yoda on the end of your pencil?
I've been unemployed for 5 years because no company will want to hire you unless you have the exact requirements. Plus, companies don't hire because they make more money not hiring you. The United States Federal Government pays out billions of dollars in grants to companies who "try" to hire but don't actually hire. Then all that money becomes pocket change for directors and stakeholders. Welcome to 2024. You will NEVER get a job. I can't even get a job as a grocery bagger. Think about that man.
Damn!! I’m in a similar situations only difference Ive been unemployed for a year. How are you getting along? How are you surviving?

Jesus Christ saved my life he can save yours to. No body is perfect we all have sinned fallen short of the glory of God, except Jesus Christ. So he was the perfect sacrifice for the world and he became that sacrifice. So that we can be perfect in God’s eyes all we need to do is. Repent from our sinful wicked ways and surrender our life’s to him. Jesus Christ. Repent meaning acknowledge and forsake your sins. Know you have sinned and know you are not good in God’s eyes. (Until you accept his gift of salvation. You will be seen perfect in his eyes because Jesus Christ paid the price.)Forsake meaning do not sin. (You may stumble but just rely on the Lord he’s got you in Jesus name.) We have to be clean and filled with the Holy Spirit. Jesus Christ said we must be born again of the spirit to enter The Kingdom of Heaven. (John 3:3) !
