*What do you guys think about the animal husbandry system?* I am really looking forward to it and I think Intrepid have hit the nail on the head with this one and anyone into Breeding/Taming or Collecting are really going to enjoy this system. Let me know below what you guys think. Don't forget to *LIKE* and *SHARE* the video.
I think it sounds amazing...but I also think if other professions are not equally cool and in depth then you will make it so a certain kind of player who likes that level of depth will be disappointed and lose enthusiasm for trying any other crafting, gathering or processing skill on offer. You will also have people who will shun that level of complexity and if their is no artisan class that appeals to those people who enjoy something simplistic and want to use their artisan class as a mini game rather than as a supplement for build optimisation or economic growth then the game economy might suffer from a shortage of artisans. My third qualm is if the lifespan of the animals is such that the work that goes into breeding them is not worth it. My fourth qualm is that animal lovers the people most likely to gravitate towards this class might be bummed out if a virtual animal they've become attached to dies in a siege or of old age ecetera. Remember the tears Tamagotchis engendered? This sounds really cool but there are a lot of ways it could go wrong.
@@noonenowhere877 At the moment the only tames that fully die are the legendary ones that come with a lifespan. The tames you raise will not have a lifespan and if they die during a siege you are able to summon them back after a certain amount of time. You can speed this up through the alchemy profession. Different mounts will be better for certain situations so it is also always worth it to be raising new ones and making them better. Some people won't like how in-depth the animal husbandry system is and yeah at the moment it does overshadow the other professions but I do think we will see a lot of people playing different professions even in my guild we have quite an even split on what professions people are wanting to do once the game comes out so I imagine other guilds will to so even though the animal husbandry system is amazing I still think a lot of people will do other professions as it's what they prefer and I don't think the economy will suffer. If they don't like how in-depth the artisan systems are then there is still a lot for them to do in the game.
I've said elsewhere that, as a pet professional irl, that husbandry is really exciting for me. In the past, my favourite mmo's have had animal taming and training - namely Ultima Online and WoW. I stopped playing the hunter in wow when they revamped how training works. It went from learning pet skills (bite, claw, screech, howl, etc) from various tames and teaching them to your chosen pet, to just learning skills from an NPC. By removing the effort and involvement, it destroyed the reward, just to make it easier for those who can't Google. Whereas in UO taming could be used to generate income by doing the legwork and selling animals that are tricky to tame; dragons and whatnot. The economy was imbalanced imo and grinding with dragons was way more profitable than selling them, but that's how player-driven economy works. That said, if taming and husbandry in ashes turns out like I'm expecting, particularly with the Mendelian breeding and genetics, it has potential to be a very special and fulfilling profession! I'm very interested to know who your animal behaviour experts/researchers are because the biological depth in the skill seems to go above and beyond what I'd expect to see in a game that doesn't have dedicated behavioural experts. If that is the case I'd love to research them and see their work outside of ashes, and ofc would really like to see a super in-depth showcase of the skill and its intricacies. I wanna hybrid an otter cat, and a hippo horse 👍 Sooo excited to see more 🤣🤣
There have been several games that has offered the ability to tame mounts. But this the first one to Train for purpose meaning not only can you tame a mount but also a beast of burden, a fun pet, a hunting pet for some classes, and possibly a protection pet. While I don't think I will have the time to invest early on, this definately a system I am looking forward to exploring.
Yeah i really like that the combat pets also go by the holy trinity (tank, dps or healer) i think it'll be really useful for solos or small groups. It is a really in-depth and purposeful system and definitely one of my most anticipated to test in Alpha 2. Yeah, i think the early game will be levelling focus but i think around mid-game you're going to need to get into these systems to progress easier.
As a dog trainer and behaviourist and having a history of working within the animal science industry; I'm so super excited for husbandry, breeding and training! Gonna put all my focus in this game on breeding mounts etc!
Now that could be a crazy little class even slightly OP haha maybe have to venture down that path myself, well hopefully we get some more footage on this or more details soon, should have another video in the next couple of weeks specifically about Combat Pets and Mounts! They're pretty crazy.
i am right with you there mate! haha Honestly, I just hope this doesn't sidetrack me from my other in-goal games to much lol which i can see happening to a LOT of people, but is going to be awesome!
Great video again mate! I wasn’t initially over excited and focused on this system but some of these details about hunting Rare genetics and others, are really exciting! I love the idea of having full quests dedicated to the professions. They are the back bone of the game and the economy and deserve their own stories! Can’t wait for details similar to this to come out about ship building. Rare materials, weapons, cosmetics, magic items and the rest!
Thanks mate glad you're enjoying the videos, I always appreciate comments and feedback like this. Yeah, definitely how complex they have made the system is definitely what has made it one of the systems I really want to focus on especially for Alpha 2 I do think it's going to be an integral part of the game. I do like that they are adding in quests that relate to different things like professions & religion, I think they even said they were going to add in quests for corruption and the darker side of the game. Professions are definitely one of the main pillars of MMOs you can't make a good MMO without them they bring in a lot more depth and replayability to the game. I am really excited to see how in-depth they go with the other artisans!
Awesome video really covers what the concept of this system is makes me really excited to test it out! It'll be interesting to see how much progression through the system opens things up
Thanks. Yeah, I imagine from what they have said it will really help with getting those mutations and rare recessive genes to show up which will just mean you will be able to do so much more in the system, especially with some of these genes and mutations making the creature an entirely new species.
@@Azrial yeah from the looks of the mounts they have in the cosmetic packs I imagine there is gonna be some mad creatures in the world as I imagine like with the armour they'll be saving the best stuff for in the world
@@raidsandruin4366 Yeah i really like the way they are handling the cosmetic pack skins for the mounts and pets. Should be really good looking forward to testing it.
That is true so if you want to buy the tames you'd have to visit that area buy them and take them back but that is a lot easier than moving out there and resetting up & upgrading your stable. Also "Metropolis level economic nodes enable worldwide sale prices for auction houses across Verra" and I imagine just from that one positive there most servers will have at least one economic metropolis it just makes sense and not just from an Animal husbandry standpoint it will help out all artisan classes.
My kind of video 😍 I'm having high hopes for an advanced breeding system that you really have to work hard for to get really good at. I can't wait to try out animal husbandry.
Yeah would be really nice to get some more footage or even in-game stuff but I think we won't see that until really close to A2 maybe even just snippets. but regardless I am so hyped for this system is going to be awesome!
You won't actually be able to go Tamer and Animal Husbandry to the master level due to them being in two separate artisan trees. You can currently only master two artisans and they must be in the same tree of either gathering, processing or crafting. Taming is a gathering profession while animal husbandry is a processing profession. You'd have to make alts to master both, but i would say a lot of people are planning on doing this or you could try buying them from tamers however i feel this takes the fun out of it.
I thought you couldn't do the same tree and had to do a different tree? So that means if you choose animal husbandry the only other class you can have is smelting? I don't know doesn't seem like a good role playing combination. I kinda prefer the WoW system. Where you get one gathering and one crafting profession and if your an idiot you do two crafting or gathering professions...like a suboptimal moron. Way better system in my opinion. If they were going to lock out anything I feel like it should be the ability to have two artisan skills from the same category. To stop people from just being the guy who sells wood and ore at exorbitant prices. Honestly if they had more processing classes I'd even say you should be able to have one from each...but there's only two processing classes so that'd be dumb and lopsided. Everyone would just pick one or the other which isn't very unique. So I can see why your limited to two...but two in the same category? I mean that presents exactly the same problem as three in the same category because processors can only pick Animal Husbandry or Smelting.
I really hope the taming and animal husbandry is as in depth or greater than Star Wars Galaxies creature handler and bioengineer class which was also based on genetics and required trial and error to get the best combinations right. I hope by making hybrids we can also give creatures special abilities that they would normally not have which is what SWG did by allowing you to mix DNA from different creatures. Obviously rare creatures gave the best DNA so perhaps we can have rare spawns with unique DNA in AOC. For example find a rare stallion that had a run speed that is higher than horses would normally have and a charge ability. By capturing the stallion you can breed it with your normal horses to increase their running speed and have a chance or that ability being inherited. Tamers might try to find multiple rare creatures with rare genes to get a breeding program going. The only down side I see so far in AOC is the creatures seems to be a fixed in size so the saddle is always in the same place where in SWG you could breed gigantic creatures and the saddle would just change position.
Yeah from the sounds of it that is exactly what it is going to be like, but rather than mixing DNA you'll be able to actually breed the two tames together. They have said as well the best genetics will be hidden behind rare spawns (that i can imagine people fighting over) and rare mutations that as you progress through the animal husbandry tree will have a higher chance of appearing. I also think i remember Steven saying there will be several breeds within a species dotted around the map and like your saying the horses over in the dessert may be the fastest while the horses in the riverlands have the best weight stat and these also vary from tame to tame (a bit similar to ark were no two creatures have the exact same stats). Some of the tames are different in sizes if you look at the dawn breaker or the glimmering geode or the Graveyard Golem, I imagine as time goes along and we get more 3D renders of these tames and mounts we'll start to see a difference and im pretty sure there is plans to make mounts that can fit multiple people so I'm 100% sure we'll see gigantic creatures soon.
Great video I can't wait to jump into the system. I wonder how much of a difference the stats will make in PvP especially with the caravans. Its a lot more complex compared to other games taming systems and I think it will really make the game stand out
It is quite complex and I think it may put some casual players off but I also think it will draw a lot of players in from other games. Yeah i imagine the mounts will make a good deal of change to the caravans by increasing the speed that you get from A to B which means less time to get attacked. You'll enjoy the mount video as i really get into mounts and combat.
That's me in most games but with ashes the PVE is so good ill be getting involved in every aspect of the game and content within Vera and breadlines will be really good to get involved in and as well as Taming and seeing how much of a impact they will have on content within Vera.
I'm really looking forward to these systems especially with coming from Ark and Atlas there definetly something I'm looking forward to doing once I'm levelled. Definitely one of my favourite systems by far.
Yeah one thing that makes Ark so unique is their breed lines or the venture out you have to tame stuff that seems to always go wrong haha or improving on their breed lines, Ashes has so much to offer when it comes to this even for themOG pokemon tamers, its a big draw to this game regardless of the other systems.
Ark Survival Evolved didn't have lifespan though they just died from starvation or in combat and your character was an all round crafter so building a farm was less tedious. I question how they're going to balance the tedium of breeding and caring for animals out if the animal can just expire when you aren't looking from old age. Espeacially given for some animals you are going to have to raid bosses in order to get their genetics. Also given you need a physical home to keep these creatures and unlike in Ark defending your own home is not enough to protect it. Rather you have to protect the node your home is connected to which due to walking and mount distance might be far away. I question if you can actually defend it if a surprise attack occurs. Also if you lose your home every time a city is undefended then all the infrastructure you've built up to care for these animals could disappear overnight. In Ark even if your home is destroyed your animals might still be salvaged. Or if you are on a server where stealing animals and locations are possible you can steal them back or reconquer the location. Due to the fact some people are really talented builders in Ark you might also have times when people are like "ooh this is nice I'll keep it rather than demolishing and starting from scratch" But that option might not exist for a Freehold you've built up or a city node that's been levelled. I think the best thing would be to have a conquest system where while citizens get a penalty for new masters they can still keep or reacquire their houses if they cozy up to the new rulers. This would also make people more involved in PVP combat if someone wants to take over a farm that already exists rather than making their own from scratch. That option is now available which would help with the scorched earth aspect immensely.
@@noonenowhere877 It's only the royal/legendary mounts that have a lifespan so we won't have to worry about normal mounts just expiring randomly while were out adventuring (at least that is what we have been told so far). A surprise attack can not occur in Ashes of Creation, when a siege is declared you get a certain amount of time to prepare for the attack, Village gets 2 days, Town gets 3 days, City gets 4 days and Metropolis gets 5 days. You will automatically be signed up to defend the node due to being a citizen of it and will know it is going to happen and when so you will never get surprised attacked. Your freehold is only able to be attacked for two hours after a successful siege only. So you only have to defend it for those two hours. If you manage to do that you can do a quest to move the citizenship of your freehold of a new node as long as your freehold is within its ZOI. So it will be hard to lose your home as you have two chances to defend it. If you aren't able to defend it and it gets destroyed you do get a blueprint for your freehold mailed to you and the certificates will track major milestones meaning you will be able to build your freehold again and have the stations levelled up so you won't lose the progress that way. However, you will be subject to material lose which I would assume would be all the tames you had stored in that freehold. You can also hire NPCs to help defend your freehold for those two hours after a siege or there might be people on the server who you could pay if you didn't have the guild to defend your freehold.
Yeah for sure mate, i don't disagree it really could overshadow some of the other artisan's classes i think this will be on a much bigger scale than the other ones, then again i could be wrong and intrepid could smash out even more complexity on another artisan, but only time will tell.
@@Azrial Indeed, I think they probably have some things in store for the other artisan systems to bring up the "awe" factor to match this a bit. We'll see! I'm excited either way.
@@RyveGenesis Yeah I agree it'll be good to get some more information on them hopefully soon especially with us starting to see combat this month I imagine the amount of details we are getting will start to ramp up as we get closer to an Alpha 2 release date.
I'm pretty sure I won't be able to dedicate enough time to do Husbandry, but I might do Taming. I do expect to be quite good at making money, so I will be acquiring Mounts and Pets.
yeah that's the one mate it will be really hard for most people to fully master all this and get deep into everything its why trading, travelling and help from people in-game will benefit a lot to these systems. As for money-making yeah for sure this will be big when it comes to that hundred percent.
Looks great. Reminds me a little of ark especially with the RNG with passing genes along, I imagine that will be like trying to pass stats along in ark but harder especially with how many combos I imagine there will be.
Yeah, it does remind me a little of Ark i remember trying to get the high melee and mutations to pass on with gigas back in the day. It's definitely something I'm looking forward to jumping into.
@@kimmirossi46 Well if you look at what Steven had said in the past he said we would see an Alpha 2 announcement when development updates started ramping up, in the past couple of months we have had the character creator, the world events and the weather system. The big thing they wanted in place before Alpha 2 was the combat and Steven has just said he's delaying the stream so we can have the start of the combat at the end of this month, that to me says its starting to all slide into place and I imagine we'll have an announcement sometime this fall.
I think an important factor has to be aging. The plans for the durability of gear naturally has to eventually leave the item unusable has ot also apply to the pets/mounts
Yeah I see what you mean as it would mean once people had the super rare mounts/pets they would keep going til they had 2 and then breed them multiple times and put them on the auction house meaning eventually everyone would always have them. I know the royal/flying mounts currently have a life cycle of 15-30 days I'm not sure if they will implement this with the land mounts or gliding mounts there wasn't any information I could find backing this but it might be something to ask on one of the livestreams.
@@Azrial for me personally there are way too many question marks about aoc at the moment to really decide if it's going to be worth playing. It's a very exciting idea, but there have been far too many of those over the last 15 years to really trust it. Hell, we don't even have any idea of what the classes are actually going to entail yet. 64 classes were promised but so far I think we have 6? Some people have even said the "augments" won't actually change the class beyond aesthetic though whether this came from Stephen or not I don't know. So far I've seen a LOT of big but very vague promises. I know they aren't rushing things (which I like) but until is see something more concrete and specific I'm not holding my breath
@@andyevans8585 So there are actually 8 Archetypes but each class has 8 augments that come from a secondary archetype leading to line of theres 64 classes but to me i more envision it being 8 classes with 8 twists rather than it being 64 totally unique classes. Steven said "The design behind augments is to not just change the flavour so that it reflects the secondary archetype, but it also fundamentally changes the core components of a skill" and the mage is one of the augments they have told us about so far augments with teleportations and elemental it'll affect each primary archetype differently so its quite hard to do a video on them at the minute without it being highly speculative. Id say if your not sure about it yet wait to see what comes out during Alpha 2 as we're going to get most of the game from what they are saying. I'll be covering in-depth with no bullshit if something is broke or needs to be changed0 i'll be pointing it out and also putting into the devs.
@@Azrial yeah I know but so far I've yet to see anything specific that suggests any real difference between the secondary classes. Clerics are so far 8 varieties of a healing priest for example. There's no death knight, or shadow priest style options for them. There's no real difference between an assassin and a prowler. I'm hoping there will be, but so far it's just 8 classes with 56 different names
glad you brought up ark ark has a great taming and breeding blueprint for other games id like to even tame monsters or beast in the same way beat them down some and then hit them with tranquilizers for the big combat beast and then do something more fun or technical for utility tames like setting up traps in certain areas
Yeah i agree the basic mechanics of ark are a great blueprint it will be interesting to see how similar ashes taming mechanic is as they do say you'll have to be able to handle yourself. And maybe the combat pets and the pets would be the ones you set up traps for.
@@Azrial indeed i think that route would keep it engaging especially if they apply the difficulty adaptability and then your known on your server for taming the untamable pet like a legendary pokemon lol.
My personal problem with animal husbandry and stuff like this is that whenever it finds its way into games ( like ARK as an example ), if it doesn't come by default with, it's soon to be that way because of an outcry from the community, that there must be some sort of way to progress linearly towards a certain makeup. There will inevitably be a 'meta' combination of genetics and there will inevitably be a means of mass-producing 'meta' genetics into each type of creature and all of the mystique and fun of the system will fall by the wayside. Everyone will have the same variant of a particular creature to maximize its efficiency in PvE/PvP or whatever and there won't be a 'wow, look at that one!' anymore.
Hopefully, they will find a way to balance it and with dlcs add in new creatures that increase the combinations so that it is continually evolving but i do understand what you are saying, I saw this a lot on Ark where only certain creatures were used and some weren't used at all especially as new dlcs came in and replaced them. Valid points mate something i surprisingly had not even thought about yet.
Makes me think of Paladins. They have things pretty balanced but there's a meta, as in all games. What they do though is change around small stuff every major patch which changes the meta, it's never the same. If you're a top tier player though you understand the rock paper scissor mechanics and meta becomes less relevant as countering is more important. So when you combo both those things together it gets really interesting. You also have to take into account playing something you like. I was a druid in WoW classic, and despite them being the worst class at the time I wrecked people, probably just because I liked playing it. Could I get to top tier, no. Did I do better than the majority of people playing meta classes, yes. There's a lot of factors that play into this and it's not quite as simple as people make it out to be.
@@PherPhur I haven't played paladins but that sounds decent that they change stuff around every patch, sounds like a way to keep stuff fresh. I think in Ashes we will see metas but due to the variety they have in classes, with augments and passives coming in from stuff like nodes and guilds I think there will be a lot of ways to defeat metas and like paladins it won't be as simple as 1 meta rules them all.
It all seems very promising... but over the past 2 decades I've seen so many mmos with impressive promises that never really deliver So yeah I ain't getting my hopes up for this one
Yeah if you are worried about being let down I'd wait to see what comes out in Alpha 2 and the Betas then you'll be able to see if it has delivered on the promises. I'll be covering it so you can always check back in the future once the testing has happened. I am in alpha 2 so ill have information, footage and updates all throughout that testing period.
I don't think we'll be waiting 10 years, I don't think there going to do a star citizen on us. I imagine we'll get Alpha 2 either late this year or early next year. Steven said we would probably see an alpha 2 announcement as development updates started to ramp up one of their big things they needed to show was the reworked combat. Steven has announced that we will be seeing some combat at the end of this month. That to me says the development updates are starting to ramp up and we will probably get an announcement for alpha 2 sometime this fall.
im a kickstarter and im going to play it, just be careful with such hyperbole as "beyond perfect". There's enough hype trains going around packed with fanboys already, just chill dude. You'll fabricate an unachievable level with such nonsense.
Ahh that's just the title just to draw folk in, the real contents in the video mate if you listen to the video I don't actually say that it is beyond perfect. This is kinda just an overview of the system and my opinion and thoughts backed by the facts, footage and quotes we have right now. But if they do manage to pull off their concept I 100% believe it will be an unbelievable taming and breeding system. I'm really looking forward to testing it in Alpha 2 and I do reckon it will overshadow other MMOs Animal Husbandry systems. I understand anything could go wrong and if it does ill address that later on if that is the case like I have with my issues with other systems.
@@Azrial ah the old click bait titles, i get it, not trying to be mean im just worried expectation will be blown so high by the time of release people might be let down.
It is a localized auction system from my understanding
So basically Ranger/Summoner for Class and Tamer/Animal Husbandry for Artisan Class = Best build for monster and animal lovers.
Man this really bums me out using an alt to be a proper fully fledged beast master is kinda lame.
I mostly focus on combat but the husbandry system has me intrigued to be a breeder of the best pets and mounts
That's me in most games but with ashes the PVE is so good ill be getting involved in every aspect of the game and content within Vera and
breadlines will be really good to get involved in and as well as Taming and seeing how much of a impact they will have on content within Vera.
How much has been updated since for this as in my guild i habe chosen to master this
fair few bug fixes and Qol but not sure how much more as am not currently playing or kept up to date with it as of late.
Great content! Keep it up!
Thanks, mate, much more to come, happy your enjoying it!
Animal husbandry looks great! I do wonder whether it will overshadow some of the other artisan classes.
It's definitely something I'm looking forward to jumping into.
when will this come out?
The Alpha 2 should hopefully drop late this year or more likely Q1 next year.
@@Azrial I hope you are right. This project is VERY optimistic.
Super video again. Always nice to be able to pet a cool animal aswell. Thanks for the informative vid :)
Cheers shell, I'll be living out my childhood Pokémon play again haha 👌 aims to get every combat pet in the game.
glad you brought up ark ark has a great taming and breeding blueprint for other games id like to even tame monsters or beast in the same way beat them down some and then hit them with tranquilizers for the big combat beast and then do something more fun or technical for utility tames like setting up traps in certain areas
@@user-rl9cu1nt1l I would agree with that I can't wait to jump into the system.
@@Azrial Appreciate your consideration of my criticism. Keep up the good work, hope your RUclips career works out, brother.
@@gordieallen6422 yeah no worries mate appreciate the feedback much more content coming! :)
I’m going to need a turtle bear or a snake squirrel okeeey? 🤗

It's official this game is NEVER coming out. Lol there have been game plays for YEARS by big MMO RUclipsrs all that shit and it STILL hasn't been released.
