@@RobTrek Thanks again Rob, I have made my list of videos I want to watch from your collection. I think finally I get the opportunity to learn about my Olympus E-M10 II camera in all of it features. :-)
Just picked up a M10 MII on sale, and being a Canon and Nikon shooter was a little confused about the Olympus menu system. Your video answered all my questions. Thanks so much for the walk-through, and to-the-point explanations of the camera's features!
Great video Rob. As an old Olympus user (e-510 and E-5) I know how was so hard to get a right info about settings those cameras. Andrzej Wrotniak helped us a lot and that’s was it. I`m glad that I subscribed to your channel because you do wonderful job and because I felt that Olympus cameras was always undervalued and needs more attention cause that cameras have a soul. Keep going, you are doing a great, great job for photography lovers and Olympus community.

This is a great explanation. I've done all my photos in auto to date. I'm worried I'm going to have trouble having done the myset. At times I found it hard to keep up with which button you pressed and went back several times to follow it. I also need to look up how to get the EVF to come on fast. I can look all these problems up so no worries. Thanks
I thank you so much for all your videos. Please keep going on. I learn more and understand more from you than from any other videos I ever watched. Thank you.
Thank you for this thorough walkthrough! I got am OM-D E-M10 about two years ago, and I've never made good use of it because it's a little intimidating for me. Really helpful to know what all my menu settings mean!
Rob, Thanks for a great explanation of the settings! Having read the manual several times, I came away frequently confused about what each menu item does! In this short video tutorial, you covered every menu item with a demonstration of what effect they have on photos!
I just adore this camera. It had more than the original EM10 and when I saw it I knew it was the camera for me at a decent price point. I agree with what you've saidxelsewhere that they really did well with the designs of the Mark iis in the OMD range.
Hi Rob, appears pages 2 & 3 of custom menu D which includes functions like live view boost and peaking settings was skipped starting at 29:41. Great video!
You are super knowledgeable and very well versed in your descriptions. I’m so impressed. I don’t meet many photographers who are also great teachers. Good on you!
I discovered your channel just recently, Rob and binge-watched nearly all the videos you made about the EM 10 Mark II. I have this camera over a year now and learned so much helpful new thinks from you. Thank you for that and for your energy and motivation to produce these videos! And please, please keep up your great work!
Thank you so much, Rob, for this video on camera settings. I have had my E-M5mk11 for almost 4 years and had no luck with the manual on how it works, I have called Olympus customer service a few times for help but this video is priceless. I have just updated my camera and now have photo stacking but I didn't know how bracketing worked either so my online search found you, thanks again for your videos.
I just got the new em5 and so far I love it,I am coming from the old e 510 and your channel is great in saving me time in going threw the manual and I really like to learn visually rather than written. Thanks for you time.
Very late to this party, but wanted to comment that I found the menus on my first Olympus camera (an e-pl2), well, complex to say the least. Several cameras later, I've gotten used to the Olympus menus, but having only recently discovered your channel, decided to compare the settings on my two Olympus cameras, set after tediously going through each user manual, to your recommendations. We don't agree 100%, but very close I must say. Thanks for an extremely informative and helpful video.
Wow! This video was so freaking informative! Kudos to you. It must feel good knowing that over a year later your video is helping out new users. I just got the EM10 mark 2 yesterday for a great price. The menu system us daunting compared to my old Canon T4i, it your video helped a TON. I definitely need to watch your video on mysets. Still confused between normal, anti-shock and silent. Antishock seems 100% superior to normal. Silent has no shake, but apparently you lose flash abilities? Excited to be able to snap shots at piano recital without the loud mirror sound of my SLR.
Hi Rob! I've just picked up an OEM II and got all the settings tuned to my liking based on your amazing tutorial. Liked and subscribed! Thank you so much!!!
Thank you Rob. I have learnt so much more through your well explained videos than I ever did from my manual and feel much more confident about using the my sets and understanding how useful they are.
For those with the newer E-M10 Mk.3, it's worth buying David Thorpe's book "The Olympus E-M10 MkIII Menu System Simplified". Do NOT buy the Kindle e-book version, as it isn't well formatted. Go for the paperback! The book goes into total detail of every single menu setting available on the new E-M10 MkIII. Each setting is simply explained in plain English, as well as the pro's and con's of its use. A great book to compliment Rob's invaluable video tutorials. Rick
Nice job on the video Rob. It would be nice if Olympus included a video like that to explain what the features do in a more detailed and personal way than the instruction book.
Yeah, one time I was looking something up in the Book and it said something like see pg. 65....and the Book stopped at pg. 62....smh. I DO have a problem with my camera; I often want NOTHING on the back of the display but cannot figure out how to clear all those little pictograms and info...HELP! Any easy way to just keep it Image only? My bed with this camera is how easy it is to move settings as I use it in the field. I love some of the special effects and got some great images but damn, I keep hitting the many buttons as I work. Sample of my photos with this camera; ruclips.net/video/DigL7HiidGI/видео.html
Thank You very much for this Video!! It helps a lot to understand the complicated menu of the Olympus Cameras. But I see this complicated menu more as an advantage, so many individual customisations can be made. As a rookie who sees photographing as the best hobby ever, I'm very thankful for your awesome tutorials and good explenations, because they are good understandable for people with not much backgroundknowledge like me :))
I am really new to the field of photography and i just recently buy an em10 mark1/version 1 in fb marketplace with no box and manual. thanks for the complete walk through for the settings some still applied in my em10 mark1.
I am so grateful for the tutorials you have so thoroughly prepared for us-especially new photographers who want to fully explore this great camera. I love learning new settings and ways to navigate. I am hopeful you can answer a question regarding the HDMI output. You may have covered this in a previous tutorial and if you have please let me know which one I will seek it out. I am hopeful that this camera has a feature to give me clean HDMI output so there will be no info on the the display screen. I am using Ecamm as my software and a video capture card but I cannot turn off the display info. Bottom line question -Is there a setting to get a clean HDMI output ? Thank you for the time you have devoted to teaching. Thank you.
Thanks. Yes, very easy. Simply click and hold the info button. That should clear the screen of all icons. I did a whole tutorial here: ruclips.net/video/RuSEw396JZI/видео.html
Thanks Rob for your time and another great video. I have the same camera and really really appreciate your video instructions. I really enjoy using it along with your excellent tips and instructions. Cheers.
Excellent video. Some of the settings were a little different on my Olympus Pen F vs. the OMD-EM1II you were using. Threw me off just a little. But the majority of the video was excellent. Thank you for all your hard work.
@@RobTrek I've just bought a second hand EM-5 after years of using a Fuji bridge camera and your video really helped with the settings . Thanks again .
Thank you for another useful video Rob. Great job explaining so many menu items in one video. Got a question about the Build-in EVF. I turned if off because I also don't want the view finder to switch back and force, but when it is off, is there a way to switch to the view finder instead of the screen display when I need to?
Excellent video Rob. These tutorials are really helping me understand my new EM-10 mark II. Please make a few tutorials about the video features and share a few tricks for shooting video with this camera. Thank you very much for your time and effort.
Rob, when I turn the EVF Auto Switch to Off as you suggested, I can't see through the viewfinder. That really freaked me out because my first Olympus EM10M11, something went wrong with it and I couldn't see through the viewfinder and the Quick Menu at all. It had to be set to either one or the other. There was a short in the pull out screen on the back.
Sorry to hear about your screen having a short in it. But the auto switch off is supposed to toggle between the evf and live screen. My evf eye detector is broke so I'm stuck with auto switch off now.
I don't know if it was this video or another of yours, good advice on which dial should be exposure comp since many cameras usually have that dedicated dial at the position. Thanks!
Thank you, Robin! I have now watched several of your videos and you have convinced me about a Four/Third. I am (and will stay) a Nikon shooter and I was eyeing their new Z but they are expensive; the Olympus has ALL I need so why spend more money? Would my Nikon "d" lenses work on the Olympus with an adapter? Thanks again for all your professional videos!!
Thanks. Hopefully you're not confusing me with Robin Wong's channel! He does a great job on his channel if you like that style. I'm more of a deep dive, explain it all at no expense kind a channel, sprinkled in with some vlogs and products. I use my Nikon D lenses time to time with an adapter. Make sure you get the "G" adapter just in case you want to use a "G" lens. It has the aperture ring built in. I have a couple of videos on adapting lenses to the EM10-ii and PenF. They are slight different.
Hi Rob , I am really enjoying your videos. They are clear , concise and spoken in at a level I understand. I do feel foolish however because I have been watching the videos on the OM -D E mark10 II and I have the OM-D E MARK 5 II. The settings have primarily the same so am I missing out on any information I might need ? Thank you for excellent videos. Thanks Donna
For the things I'm covering, you're not missing out. There are some features the em5-ii has that are not on the em10-ii. I believe focus stacking and high res shot are two. There may be others, but I don't have an em5-ii so can't think of any others off the top of my head. There are many objective differences such as weather sealing, articulating screen, mic jack, and larger view finder to name a few.
Thanks, Rob! BUT SOMETHING IS DRIVING ME CRAZY! It is the "Movie Specification Settings" (starting at 39:14 in your video)...your instructions here are great but I'm hoping you can help me with the following problem. I have found -- and may be mistaken -- that when in Movie Mode on the Dial (the little movie cam icon on the dial), the camera behaves analogous to the P(program/semi automatic) mode in stills shooting, and therefore you will have much better control if you select M, A, or S on the dial and just press the red button on the camera to record. HOWEVER (this is the confusing part), when in M, A, or S, it appears you simply cannot select your desired movie specification (e.g, A-I and FHD) from the menu; it is not there. It seems that you may only select the movie specification only while the dial is set in the Movie Mode. I hope you see what I am saying. So, HOW DO SELECT the desired specification in M, A, or S when it is simply not shown in the menu??? This is driving me nuts, as I prefer to be in S or A mode for videos. I cannot figure it out, and the user manual does NOT address this at all on either my M10 Mark II or my M5 Mark II. I hope you can help, because you likely know even more about these Olympus OMD cameras since you posted this a while back. Your channel is so valuable! Thanks again!
Hi Rob. Nice video. Followed along on my EM-1 Mk1. I think you left off a couple screens in the Gears-D menu as the video skipped right to Gears-E after you discussed Histogram Settings, around 29:50.
Thanks. You are correct, I got a bit disorientated and jumped out of the D menu by mistake. I was wondering why the mode guide was still set to "on" at the end of the video when I had to turn it off. I don't really change anything else after that besides the "Mode Guide", except maybe the Peaking color. Thanks for your feedback and watching so closely!
Thanks Rob! I really appreciate the effort you put into this video. Very informative and given that I have had my EM-1 since it was launched I now feel I have a much better understanding of the Olympus manual maze!:)
Hi Rob, Another awesome video, thank you! As I was replicating your settings today, I noticed something. This may have changed over time, or may have been covered in another comment, but to get the Anti Shock Shutter Mode option in Shooting Menu 1 at 7:14 in the current firmware version of the mark ii, Anti Shock in Shooting Menu 2 needs to be turned on. I also noticed that you have a heart icon in the Shutter Mode options in Shooting Menu 1. The heart represents either Noise Reduction or Silent Mode (checked and it is Silent Mode) which also would need to be turned on in Shooting Menu 2 to be available in the Shutter Mode options in Shooting Menu 1 at 7:14. I set both to 0sec in Menu 2, but could you comment on what you typically have them set at? This also makes these options available in the Super Control Menu. Thanks again! I'm using your posts as my main source of inspiration and information to learn as much as I can about my new OM-D E-M10 mark ii. :)
Thanks. You are correct, they need to be turned on in Shooting Menu 2. They are "on" and set to zero by default and I always leave them at 0 unless doing something very specific, but the custom shutter or timer does the same thing effectively.
Thanks Rob, this is helpful. Little about me - I am a Nikon enthusiast, and I use a D850 with an assortment of great lenses. However, on a recent trip to Budapest and Prague, my camera bag weighed 23 pounds (D850, 15-30 f/2.8, 24-70 f/2.8, 70-200 f/2.8, tripod, flash, extra batteries, extra chargers), so I just purchased the OMD EM5 Mark II with included 14-150 lens (my understanding is this lens = full frame 28-300 f/8 to f/11.2, not sure how this will be). The purpose of the camera is a smaller, lighter alternative to the Nikon for daily use. However, there are a number of people saying that micro four thirds is going away soon. What's your take?
I don't really have a good read on the market for micro 4/3. That said, I don't see why they would be on their way out. Olympus and Panasonic are still releasing cameras on a regular basis, lenses are still being made by third parties and I here more and more people are looking to go lighter and smaller. If micro 4/3 is in trouble, then the entire range of cameras is in trouble. I just went out with a friend of mine who has the exact same setup as you. I was a little shocked at the weight of his d850 + 24-70 f/2.8. Not sure I can ever go back to a dslr. I still have my d750, but it's been collecting dust.
Rob; Great videos. Expecting my Mar II this week. I want to make sure I haven't missed anything. After programing all the settings, do you have to 'SAVE'? I considered taking photography classes until I found your tutorials. Thanks so much. Ron B. (84 yrs young & finally upgrading from 'POINT 'N SHOOT!)
Interesting. I have em1 mk ll step up for modes c1 birds and wildlife c2 General shooting /street c3 bracketing that's sent silent shutter on c1 I have it CAF +TR loose +2 9 point focus. The CAF is set to the lowest setting as I find it tracks better. C2 is much like your street settings. c3 5 shot bracket for landscapes and low light mostly as I shoot b&w in abandoned buildings a lot. I have a buttons programmed for digital zoom as well. I find by using peaking I can get tighter more accurate focus vs magnify and peaking.
I'll have to try your tracking settings. I generally prefer magnify over peaking, especially on low contrast lenses, and use peaking more for wide and action shots.
Thank you Rob. Yours video helps a lot ! Is it possible to increase the Basic volume of your videos ? I have the speakers built into the monitor and the volume is very low at the most.Best regards. Monica
Hi Rob, a great video, but you've acctually missed a whole setting page on "D" menu. The one, where you got back to turn off the Mode Guide (it's why it was turn on in the first place), overall a great contant as always. Cheers! (Edit: I see that Bob already pointed it out :P)
Yeah, it's inevitable to miss something when a video is so long. I do these videos usually in a single take and never with a script. Thanks for your feedback!
01:35 Picture styles for raw: Set to neutral as suggested, AND then set contrast to lowest, and saturation and sharpening one notch down. The reason for this is the camera uses JPEG histogram to makes exposure decisions hence this helps capture the optimal quality raw files. Even if you use jpeg, all of these are much easier to introduce during even basic processing, but once baked in the jpeg they become much harder to undo.
Thanks Rob, nicely explained. Do you know why some of the menus are GREY OUT. Also when looking at second hand cameras, why do there give SHUTTER COUNT. What number is best on a second hand camera. Thanks for any help.
Greyed out usually because the mode dial is in "iAuto" or "Movie" mode. Put the camera in "A" mode and see if the menu item is still greyed out. Shutter count is similar to mileage on a used car. I'd say anything under 10,000 shots is probably okay. The lower the better.
Man I love your vids ..you are so well doing in explaining the Oly's.....never been seen that before.....I'm planning to buy the Pen -f beside my Em-10II and Em-1...but does the Pen-f add something more to what I allready have ? Or should I just stay with these 2 already nice cameras?....keep up the good works !
I bought the Pen-F purely for it's looks. However, it has a ton of features that are great for creative photographers that don't mind shooting in jpg and getting the look they want in-camera. For example - advanced color controls, more monochrome and art profiles, dedicated switch and dial. Some prefer the look of the monochrome output on the Pen-F over other cameras. I do mostly raw shooting, so many of those features get no time from me. Fortunately, the Pen-F does not hold back for raw shooters. Besides the jpg profiles, it adds EXIF lens data capability, fully articulating screen and more advanced auto-iso settings over the em10. I don't feel the base image quality is a significant upgrade, nor the autofocus capability over the em10ii. For video, the stabilization is better than the em10ii. If you want the pen-f for creative jpg and/or it's physical looks, it's a really nice camera, otherwise I'd stick with the em10ii. The em10ii is my workhorse camera, the Pen-F is my inspiration camera. Thanks for your feedback and question!
Hi Rob, do you have any reviews on the om10 mk111, there appears to be a little difference between the mk11 and mk111. Your tutorials are very informative thank you.
Rob: You have been so kind to answer some questions I have asked in the past. Thank you and very informative videos !!! I've watched this video several time and I've got the camera set up according to this video. the more more I watch the video the more sense it makes. Anyway, is there a way to have the Super Control Panel stay on longer ? When I first got the camera I had to take it back to the dealer because the panel would go off after about 2 seconds. So the Dealer went into "utility" and turned the "quick sleep" to off. Now The display stay on longer, but it would be nice if there was some kind of timer function to choose from. I did fuss with the custom "d" menu and there is a sleep menu that does give a choice of some different times, but I'm not sure I understand what this function is used for. Pls advise.......Thanks
The sleep menu puts the camera in sleep mode (which includes turning off the display) based on a time delay of 1min, 3min, or 5min. You can also turn sleep mode completely off if you don't want the display to ever turn off. There is also a backlit lcd timer for 8sec, 30sec, or 1min. This simply dims the display making it hard to see, but saves battery life somewhat. I set that to hold.
hey, amazing video it helped me so much. I have the same camera and for some reason it not allowing me to switch movie+photo mode to mode1. Do u know why this may be?
Hi Rob! Thank you for a great tutorial. It cleared up my doubts about several settings on my Only EM-5 mark II. Is there any particular reason you skipped the second screen of the D custom menu? You finish it on the Histogram settings.
Thanks! I simply missed scrolling down on the D menu. I try to do these videos with no cuts and straight through to make them easier to follow along. Sometimes I forget things.
Great and informative video Rob! One question, though, do you know how to export the settings for the Em10 MkII, as a backup and also to review them for any tweaks I want to make. The Olympus Updater says the EM 10 cannot be backed up.🤔
THANK YOU, you made it a lots easy to understand as I am new to photograph, I agree with comment below Olympus should buy your videos and supply yo new buyers a guide Thank you once again
Hey Rob, you're a god sent for info on this camera. Thank you. I am chasing info on how to use this camera as a streaming camera, like a webcam but better. I am a complete noob with cameras and IT related stuff for that matter haha but can I get 1080 quality out onto a monitor (but not recording to the SD) while charging it at the same time? As the dummy battery isn't an option for this camera, the video you did on the external power pack has been helpful with that. But the port on the side other than the micro USB port (which I'm assuming would be for charging) is it capable of video output? I know this is probably a stupid question to you and go see the manual and it should say, I didn't get one with it unfortunately, I got this from a friend and it came with some lenses and charger etc but I recently got into streaming and wanted to use this instead of a wedcam.
Hi. On the EM10-ii, there are two ports - USB and HDMI. The USB port is for transferring photos and printing only. The HDMI port can be used for streaming the live image to other devices like a TV, hdmi recorder, or hdmi capture card. I'll do a video my setup. It will require some investment, but if you plan on streaming on a regular basis, it will be money well spent.
@@RobTrek I've ordered a dummy battery (dunno if it will work) but I'm willing to give it a try. The battery won't last all that long I'm assuming. But yes I await your video with Zen like patience. Lol
Hi Rob, I have watched several of your videos and now something has gone awry with the magnifying button. Instead of bringing something half again closer, the screen will shows green arrows on all the edges and when I rotate the back button, it goes between 3x and 14x. What have I done, and how to I get back to just clicking the button and seeing the little icon on my screen? Thanks a bunch! Your videos are amazing, but I think I play too much! LOL
Great video! I’m seriously considering getting one of The Olympus OMD 10 m2 camera’s. It does have touch screen focus correct or no? Can you go into your menu through the touchscreen or no? Thank you very much!!!
Thanks. You're not missing much. I've shot plenty of both stills and video on my Pen PL8 and it's only 3 axis. For video, em1.2 is it. I did a comparison and found the em10.2 not great for video, the penf/em5.2 better, but the em1.2 is amazing!
Yes. It's automatic each time the camera is turned on. Hold the camera in normal position so dust doesn't just fall back onto the sensor. You can also activate it manually but starting pixel mapping found in the utility menu
Thank you! I just bought this camera second hand and was trying to wade through all the settings.

Thanks, Jerry. Glad to help. Let me know if you have any questions.
I just got the new em5 and so far I love it,I am coming from the old e 510 and your channel is great in saving me time in going threw the manual and I really like to learn visually rather than written.
Thanks for you time.
Thanks. Glad to help.
Thanks. Glad you found my video helpful.
Thank you for the kind feedback. Much appreciated!
Hi Rob! I've just picked up an OEM II and got all the settings tuned to my liking based on your amazing tutorial. Liked and subscribed! Thank you so much!!!
Thank you!
This is the best tutorial I have watched so far. And I've watched a lot. I have An em5 but the info is still very helpful. Many thanks.
Thanks. I actually didn't personally like this video so it surprised me how well it's been received. Appreciate the feedback!
Thanks Rob, very informative. As a new Olympus owner this is just what I needed. I have subscribed.
Thanks. Glad these videos help!
Thank you Rob. I have learnt so much more through your well explained videos than I ever did from my manual and feel much more confident about using the my sets and understanding how useful they are.
Glad to help, Sharon. Thanks.
I love your tips and tutorial Rob. You are THE best, period! You explain very well in a very professional and in depth way. Much appreciated.
Thanks, Andrea.
Second time watching and with camera in hand I was able to change some of the settings I was unsure about. Very helpful.
Thanks! Glad this video helps, even if it's just one thing.
Rob is the no 1 Olympus on-line instructor
For those with the newer E-M10 Mk.3, it's worth buying David Thorpe's book "The Olympus E-M10 MkIII Menu System Simplified". Do NOT buy the Kindle e-book version, as it isn't well formatted. Go for the paperback! The book goes into total detail of every single menu setting available on the new E-M10 MkIII. Each setting is simply explained in plain English, as well as the pro's and con's of its use. A great book to compliment Rob's invaluable video tutorials.
Rick
Thanks for sharing. I love David Thorpe. Will check it out!
Nice job on the video Rob. It would be nice if Olympus included a video like that to explain what the features do in a more detailed and personal way than the instruction book.
Thanks for your feedback!
My bed with this camera is how easy it is to move settings as I use it in the field. I love some of the special effects and got some great images but damn, I keep hitting the many buttons as I work. Sample of my photos with this camera;

I think Olympus would win if there was an award for the worst user manuals in cameradom.
Thanks so much. You have taken much of the mystery out of, to many people, a very confusing subject.
Thanks for watching!
Thanks! I try to keep things simple. -Rob
Jus bought this camera because your instruction & videos are so good & you inspired me to take photography up again !!! Marco
Great to hear! Enjoy!
Rob I have watched this video 4 or 5 times and always pick up something new this is the video that made me want and get the Pen F
Awesome camera. Took it out last week for a photowalk. Tried some color profiles that mimic Kodachrome 64 with a vintage Zuiko lens attached.
I am really new to the field of photography and i just recently buy an em10 mark1/version 1 in fb marketplace with no box and manual. thanks for the complete walk through for the settings some still applied in my em10 mark1.
Happy to help!
Most helpful tutorial I have seen so far - thanks for uploading.
Thank you!
My pen f arrived today ( big grin ) getting my fave settings set ,slowly , wow so many settings & adjustments , thanks for going through settings ,
Thanks. I need to do some more tutorials on the PenF. There are some features unique to that camera that I have not covered.
@@RobTrek Looking forward to seeing more of your tutorials on the Pen F .
This was a very well done tutorial Really helpful and at the right speed to follow along. Thanks!
Thank you!
I am hopeful that this camera has a feature to give me clean HDMI
output so there will be no info on the the display screen.
Thank you!
Just what I was looking for. Yes, long but complete! Thanks!
Thanks for your feedback! It was long but hopefully, time well spent.
Certainly the most informative and helpful video ever. Thanks a stack.
Thanks for the kind words! -Rob
Thank you for taking the time to guide us through the different settings , best tutorial on youtube by far .
Wow, thanks!
@@RobTrek I've just bought a second hand EM-5 after years of using a Fuji bridge camera and your video really helped with the settings . Thanks again .
Hello Rob...Thank You for setting up and using time, to do these videos...! Very helpful to know about your choices.
I appreciate you taking the time to watch! Thanks.
I apreciate the way you explain all those settings, correctly ,thanks for your imformation
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you for another useful video Rob. Great job explaining so many menu items in one video. Got a question about the Build-in EVF. I turned if off because I also don't want the view finder to switch back and force, but when it is off, is there a way to switch to the view finder instead of the screen display when I need to?
Yes. There is a button on the right side of the viewfinder right behind the mode dial. This will toggle between the viewfinder and screen.
Many thanks, I am so much better informed and learnt almost every thing from scratch, great job great service done to me.
Glad to help!
ended up downloading your menu vids for use off line, as I keep coming back to them
Good idea!
Excellent video Rob. These tutorials are really helping me understand my new EM-10 mark II. Please make a few tutorials about the video features and share a few tricks for shooting video with this camera.
Thank you very much for your time and effort.
Thanks. I will try to make some on how to do video. Might have to be towards the end of the month. Very busy right now.
Great video - way better than trying to figure it all out from the manual -thanks
Glad this video helped. Thanks! -Rob
When we will see new videos with art and manual settings? Thank you for the videos they are helping me a lot
Thanks. I'll try and do one this month.
@@RobTrek thank you
Rob, when I turn the EVF Auto Switch to Off as you suggested, I can't see through the viewfinder.
Thanks Rob
Just got my Lightly Used Pen-F and the menu is the same
Thanks for this and all your videos
Thanks for watching.
I don't know if it was this video or another of yours, good advice on which dial should be exposure comp since many cameras usually have that dedicated dial at the position. Thanks!
Thanks for watching!
The best info I have seen , thank you from Sweden!
Glad it was helpful!
No, I'm sorry, I meant ROB! But indeed I am watching both channels since you awoke my interest into Olympus!
@@RobTrek THANK YOU so much, ROB! ROB! 😉🤣😂✔
Hi Rob, excellent tutorial, you are awesome!!! In menu G you forgot to mention if it better to use RGB or sRGB
Thanks. Use sRGB, not Adobe RGB. Adobe is more of a color workflow for pro work.
Thanks Rob . I am glad that I am not missing out. I appreciate your reply . I look forward to working through the remaining videos.
Excellent job! I just purchased this camera and got feet wet this video. Now I have very similar My1 with AUTO-dial.
. Thank you!
Glad to help. Thank you for watching!
Thanks Rob! I really appreciate the effort you put into this video. Very informative and given that I have had my EM-1 since it was launched I now feel I have a much better understanding of the Olympus manual maze!:)
Thanks!
Thank you. I am beginning to get the hang of my E-M10 Mark II
Thank you!
You can save the settings to Myset. Watch carefully that part of the video, or you can check out my beginner series.
Very clear and easy to understand. Your videos have helped me greatly! Thank you!
Thanks for watching!
Interesting. I have em1 mk ll step up for modes c1 birds and wildlife c2 General shooting /street c3 bracketing that's sent silent shutter
on c1 I have it CAF +TR loose +2 9 point focus.
Monica
I'm always working on trying to improve audio. It's almost as hard as getting a good picture!
Thanks so much Rob! Your videos give me great confidence to go out and shoot.
Glad to help. If you have any other questions, you can post them on any video or catch me in a live stream.
Yeah, still most of the most usefull settings are covered, I put some of them in use on my e-m10 , so thanks a lot for that video :)
Great video . . . . I learned a lot about my camera and why certain setting make a difference.
Thank you for watching!
Yes, a good tip to bring the jpg histogram to raw. Thanks.
Grea5 video your views are great and easy to follow thank you for keeping it all easy to follow.
Thank you! I try to keep it simple.
Much appreciated Rob, learned a lot viewing this video.
Thanks for watching!
Hi Rob, do you have any reviews on the om10 mk111, there appears to be a little difference between the mk11 and mk111. Your tutorials are very informative thank you.
Thanks. Sorry, I don't have an EM10mk3 so can't do any tutorials on it. But they are pretty much the same. The differences are minor.
I set that to hold.
thanks
Does 5-Axis Image Stabilization feature needs to be enabled or it's just inbuilt.
Thanks
It needs to be enabled. It should be on by default. You can turn it on in the super control panel. Auto is probably best.
hey, amazing video it helped me so much. I have the same camera and for some reason it not allowing me to switch movie+photo mode to mode1. Do u know why this may be?
Hi Rob, thanks for the info. Helps a lot. Buying the camera for my wife for travel.
HOPEFULLY the face detection works well for stills.
Randy
Thanks. The face detect is okay when closer in. It gets a bit spotty the further away the subject.
The Olympus Updater says the EM 10 cannot be backed up.🤔
Thanks. Sorry, I don't know any way to back the settings up.
THANK YOU, you made it a lots easy to understand as I am new to photograph, I agree with comment below Olympus should buy your videos and supply yo new buyers a guide
Thank you once again
Thank you and Happy New Year!
Excellent video - thorough and informative.

Lol
Robe thank you, you are a King of Olypus, realy helpful video
Thanks!
Thank you so much for another informative and helpful video! I look forward to your White Balance video.
Thanks for watching. White balance is a ways off, but I'll try and get to it asap. Working on a shutter setting video right now.
LOL
Thanks, Trish. You need to go into the button menu and change that button from magnify to digital tele.
@@RobTrek Hi Rob, You are totally amazing! I so appreciate all of your knowledge. Thanks for the fast reply too! Wishing you a great day!
Great video! I’m seriously considering getting one of The Olympus OMD 10 m2 camera’s. It does have touch screen focus correct or no? Can you go into your menu through the touchscreen or no? Thank you very much!!!
Touch to focus, yes. Menu, no. You can watch my liveview walktthrough where I demonstrate the touch to focus. Thanks!
Hello Rob,
Well done, very informative.
Thank you
Thanks for your feedback!
Most of the settings exist in EM10 mk1. Would like that 5-axis IBIS in the MKII and MKIII
Thanks. You're not missing much. I've shot plenty of both stills and video on my Pen PL8 and it's only 3 axis. For video, em1.2 is it. I did a comparison and found the em10.2 not great for video, the penf/em5.2 better, but the em1.2 is amazing!
Rob thanks for all you do here....I know this is off subject but does the OMD -E 10 Mark ll have a sensor cleaning mode/setting or none? Thanx
Yes. It's automatic each time the camera is turned on. Hold the camera in normal position so dust doesn't just fall back onto the sensor. You can also activate it manually but starting pixel mapping found in the utility menu
Thank you very Much! @@RobTrek
