Thanks Nicolas. I'd already found some of those, without realising that they were 'hidden', but the map on console feature is new to me, as is the battery health screen. Very useful to know about. 🙂👍 *What I would really like Renault to add is a charging rate screen.* Many chargers do not display a charging rate screen. It's very annoying to plug into a 22 kW charger, and not know how slowly the car is recharging. One of my local ones is a bit flakey, and sometimes might be recharging at a very slow speed. The only way to notice the slowness is to sit in the car for a few minutes and check the speed at which the estimated range is increasing. That's wasting time, Surely Renault could make a relatively simple software or firmware change to fix this serious deficiency?
The range on my Zoe had been decreasing over time. I’ve been telling the Renault service department for months now that my car requires the BMS update. Like many other owners, I was continually told it was not on the schedule of required updates. Your video was very useful in showing the Renault service engineer the missing app ENERGY INFO. Once they saw that, they realised there was a problem, and installed BMS update. The range value doubled! So thanks for a useful video.
thanks Nick....the zoe key now unlocks the charge cable...brilliant feature for our off street parking, where i used to have to climb in through the passenger door to unlock the cable...cheers mate, keep the zoe tips coming.
Thank you for all your informative videos. I have a 70 ZE50. The car tells me (!) that the software is up to date, and yet the car info screen only shows the air quality icon, not the energy info screen. I'm confused! I guess I should just ask my local dealer to to check to see if the software is up to date ... ? Thanks.
@@GordonMorris-wx9ts cheers make sure you check out other videos on the channel and if your not already an octopus customer check out evnick.com/energy for some REALLY well priced energy deals to fuel the zoe!
Nice video. My partner’s Zoe app doesn’t allow us to see things such as battery or preheating. Has anyone experienced this? We tried creating an R link account but the VIN is already in use so we can’t? 2020 pre owned
Thanks for this info Nick! I have a question..., what's the easiest way to change a fuse in the ZE50, as though I've accessed the panel, the fuses themselves seem almost impossible to get to! The 15A cigarette lighter socket fuse is blown and needs to be replaced. Hope you can help, TIA.
Very good to point these out, thanks. I have found most of these, but will do some twiddling next time, to discover the rest. I don't use the app or Android Auto and never touch the key-card buttons. It doesn't bother me too much pressing the charge cap release in the car, but I will have a look at this next time I charge inside my garage as it can be a squeeze going all the way round. 😁
Any way to increase the battery pre-heat time to more than 30 min??? Or actually, pre-heat the battery without pre-heat the cabin. As that would for sure increase the usable range in winter time.
The 100% on the Zoe is NOT the same as 100% on your Tesla. It is more like 93% real charging level compared to the Tesla that 100% is actually 100% charging level. So you can safely charge your Zoe to 100% daily (I have done it for about 1200 charge cycles now and over 165,000km driven, 93% SoH). But if you plan to let it just do nothing for a few weeks use it down to 85% first.
Thank-you for those. I found most of them already, but the extras are very useful. 🙂 Now, where do you find the Renault app? I found one on the App Store, but it's rubbish, and probably not the genuine article. The car displays do more than the hopeless app which we found. And where are the supposedly free map updates for new owners? Our car manual told us that free updates for the maps were available during the start of ownership. But the link to those maps was not working, and our dealer didn't have a clue, so we missed out on that. Online searches proved to be fruitless, so we gave up trying, when the grace period expired.
Hi Nick have you ever heard a arcing clicking noise coming out if a zoe when charging. I just had my home charger fitted and its only doing it on that charger. Thanks Matt
Cheers for another excellent video Nick. I have just checked my 2021 ZE50 and it looks like the energy info screen (& BMS) is missing. Checking for software updates tells me I'm up to date as well. So, do these particular updates require a dealer visit?
Did you car require an update to show the chargers which are available, column four on the charger list? As my Zoe 50 from 2020 does not show this column, it does show the different charger colours on the map to show their status, but not for example that there are three chargers and two are available. Thanks very much very useful video.
Hi guys, I was wondering, does any version of this 2020 model allows to charge @43kw via type2 too? I understand that ccs allow it but was wondering if the type 2 also would unlock that possibility as with previous zoe versions?
thanks for that. Useful. On pre-conditioning, it seems that a program must be set (even if I don't want one) on the car for the app pre-con to function. Is this true?
@@NicolasRaimo Thanks. 'No' means it's not necessary to set a program in car? If so, how can the My Renault app pre-condition button be activated otherwise? Or is there something I don't understand?

Nice to see someone near Stockport, how do you find charging stations? I would most likely only charge from home but conscious as there aren't many chargers around the Heatons/Didsbury area?
There may be BE.EV chargers around there, requiring the app download. I was stuck in Bury without ability to download app as there was no 4G in the town centre, certainly not that night. Car sim was also not getting accurate Google map data and sent me to places where there were no chargers. Eventually got free wifi from the adjacent ASDA, app downloaded, after somehow getting phone to charge up again on turtle-mode battery of the Zoe. A week later BE.EV sent an RFID card, but hey, I live in North Cumbria. Wasn't expecting to go to Greater Manchester but as M6 closure on Friday, i was forced around there again. Luckily the Gridserve chargers were great on M6 further south/also were available too including IKEA Birmingham one.
I don't know whether it counts as a feature. But the ability to charge at 22kW AC is a huge advantage. You get a meaningful amount of free energy whilst shopping at Tesco. With a car limited to 7kW, it's hardly worth plugging in unless you are going to be charging for over an hour. Also on a couple of occasions on road trips, rapids have all been in use. But I have been able to plug into an AC socket and get a reasonably quick charge. I'm surprised more EV's don't offer 22kW AC charging?
@@malcolmfowler8972 It's the main reason we chose our new Zoe rather than the MG5 or ZS which we looked at and really liked but they only charge at 11kwh on a/c. Over here in France we have thousands of 22 kw chargers everywhere but very few rapids. During a lunch stop today for example we gained 200 km on a 22k whereas most modern EVs would have only gained 100 at most (in fact a lot of new EVs only hve 7kwh converters so they would have only gained 65 km)
Software updates!!! I liked it when you just got in a car and drove it, and could pull into any petrol station to get fuel and didn't have to wait around for half an hour.
I prefer not going to petrol stations, instead I come home, plug my car in, go to bed... wake up and its full, then 4/5 days later repeat... oh yea its also costing me PEANUTS
