    Just bought a GT line. I think the range is more then enough for general day to day driving and living near Huddersfield to the West or East coast for a day out. My bladder range is 80 miles or two hour max so this car is perfect for retirees like my wife & I.

    I have owned the same car for three months and find 200+ miles easy to get with mixed driving. I find it hard to keep up to 70mph on the M62 I live in Huddersfield so it's less than 70 miles coast to coast. The range is perfect for me. I'm sure in three years the next EV will probably have double the range. Having owned a 30KW LEAF before and a 22KW Fluence before the leaf. This Zoe meets all my needs with no range anxiety at all.

      I see a similar Winter range; 4.8 mi/kWh on roads including the M180 and A1 in Winter, with a ZE50 R110. In Summer, you might see more than 250 miles of range. I've seen 6.8 mi/kWh in the past two Summers, with careful acceleration to full traffic speeds..

    It's amazing how much difference just a slight drop in speed can make to the efficiency. I travelled from Kielder to Stoke the other day and maintained a steady 65 mph (using cc) and my efficiency was 4.5 m/kWh. completed the whole journey (190 miles according to google maps) with one comfort break, where I added £1.98 of Gridserve electric. Arrived with 6% left.

    I managed 165 miles home from Walsall in my identical Zoe, without turtle mode or warnings, but I've reached the age when this is possible at a steady lower speed in the evening. I use a lot more D mode now as, you don't have to keep pushing power, with less rolling resistance. Weather helps a bit and of course GOM is not always to be trusted. Over 4 Wh/mile especially in stop-start traffic from London/Swindon in the last few days. Great test, thanks, more please.

      Just owned a GT LINE FOR TWO WEEKS! After owning a 22kw Fluence and 30ke Leaf. This is brilliant! The range is enough for most people. It has a great advantage of charging 22kw on AC at FAST chargers as well as 46kw DC charging.
      IT REALLY IS A BRILLIANT LITTLE CAR BUT BIG INSIDE.

    I have owned a similar Zoe for 6 months and I wouldn't disagree with your conclusions. I have found the range falls a little when the outside temp falls below about 9 deg C but I was still seeing over 200 miles at this winter's coldest - without use of HVAC and driving at truck speeds. As others have said, speed is everything and on the few occasions I need to test the car's full range, I just slow down a bit. Clearly I might prefer to go everywhere on Motorways at 70 mph but the Zoe's low fuelling cost at around 10% of a diesel car (if charging at home), is very attractive.

    It is and the result you got is on par with my experience. I've driven mine, as stated on the other zoe video of yours, for 40.000 miles. For me it's enough, I've been travelling through Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Hungary and Romania with my zoe.
    A great helper for the planning has been ABRP with a OBD dongle and I've reached all destinations. Generally you can expect about half of the journey time to be charging time on the longer journeys. But the zoe isn't made for long journeys with it's 45kW peak charging speed. On the other hand for daily use the 45kW CCS is adequate and paired with the 22kW makes for a good commuters car IMO.

    This will be perfect for me. My main long journey is once every 2 months from Welsh valleys to Reading services, it's 122miles which this will do easily. I have plenty of down hill to start and you don't get much over 50 mph until you are over the bridge on the M4 anyway or round Bristol so quids in. Thanks this has made choices interesting as there are a number of Zoe on the market now for really good money.

    Thanks for driving this test. Its summer so battery chemistry is not impeded by the cold. My Zoe 50 took a 30% range hit during cold weather ie just above freezing. 151 miles at just over the national speed limit is pretty good, but this seemed to be a flat run with few obstacles and no need to surge to achieve any overtakes. Hence, minimum battery pressure. Love this third generation Zoe, except for circulation impeding rear seats! Same old charging problem even on the motorway network. Insuffient chargers to meet demand. Its only tajen tge government 14 years to start improving this vital infrastructure...

    I reckon 50kWh usable battery is the price vs range sweet spot for UK: good 150 mile range in most conditions, more in summer, which is plenty for most round trips that I do. I don't do long journeys often in a car (that's what trains are for), but dropping off and picking up is a regular thing. In those journeys, I need up to about 60-80 mile range in each direction and I don't really have time to stop and charge. Part of the charging issue isn't the charging time, it's the *waiting* time when you hit motorway services at the weekend and the chargers are full.

      Bugger it, lets go at 30 mph. The range will really pick up a lot.. Nah, fu&k it, let's go at 15 mph.
      Anyone seen my pony and trap? Ppl, this is not progress in the world of transportation. EVs are good at being shopping karts and local commuters. In other respects we are going backwards and NOT meeting the stated aim.

    We have a 135 gt line. Had it around 6 weeks now. It’s a neat little thing, more suited to 2 adults or 2 adults with 2 smaller children as rear is tight.
    For me it’s a regular commute of 50 miles round trip. We have pod points at work running at 23p per kWh which I worked out to be approximately 100mpg equivalent.
    I can live with it 😁😁.
    Really you need this facility or the ability to charge at home.

    I zeroed my gauges a couple of month ago and have done about 3000 miles of mixed town and mainly fast A roads. The consumption meter now reads 4.5 m/Kwh, so not at all bad. I agree with the previous comment that at 60mph the range increases substantially.

    Thanks for the video. Good results for an EV that is currently available for £11k on the used market and still with warranty remaining. I suppose the biggest shame is gridserve and others putting in 2 chargers along motorway routes ect. These run uber slow when sharing the charge. I also hoped more destination chargers were about for the longer stops that we make

      @@manthe3711 I agree if you are buying new, I bought the zoe 50 because it was 2 years old for under £15k with only 9K on the clock. When the MG is available at 2 to 3 old I'll buy one hopefully the Xpower version! For less than half price !

    Infrastructure, there are 40 million cars on the road in the UK and you arrived at the charging bay and couldn't charge one on a day when the motorway seemed relatively quiet.

      Realistically home charging where you can is the best option in my humble opinion.

    speed does a huge difference on zoes.
    At least on my ZE40, at 80mph is almost double the Wh per mile than 60mph

    Would be very interesting to see the results of doing the same again at 60 mph and 50 mph. I generally reckon to get over 200 miles cruising at 62 mph.

      Hi i have the same stats on my Zoe. I work 80,6 miles from home, and at 62 mph plus some roads with limit 50, i have around 25 miles remaining when i get back home. Thats 80,6x2 +25=186.2.

      I covered 190 miles with 70+ range left by driving at about 53-55 mph. This is not how I would normally drive but it was a hot day and motorway wasn't busy and I had just bought the car and wanted to know what it could do which proved to be about 5m per kwh.

    I managed to do 340km Mladenovac (Sebia) to Craiova (Romania) in my ZE40. Average speed was 58km/h, as there was only just 30km of motorway.

    This is a much more realistic test than WLTP.
    10C is probably about the average spring/autumn temperature in the UK.
    running constantly at 70MPH simulates the extra drain on the battery when running at a mixed speed load but during full winter ,when heating is on max.
    Most commutes would have a bit of 30mph city,a bit of traffic, a bit of suburban say40/ 50mph, and maybe an odd motorway junction or three at 70mph. 150 Miles range on a zoe during winter looks pretty accurate(against 220mile full charge).
    To be honest that range is still within "city car" territory. For a regular commuter you need 300+ miles range reliably in all conditions, not to mention faster charging times needed....and the renault isn't that bad in that respect.
    Next generation batteries will probably be the sweet spot.Not quite there yet.

    Re your question on whether this is enough miles for a car of this size - why is there any assumption that a supermini sized car should have less miles than a big SUV? There's lots of reasons for choosing big or small cars typically based on how many people the driver normally travels with, what the parking situation is like. Having any correlation to range is really artificial.
    Based on my own driving patterns a 250 mile range is about the minimum I'd go for as I often make 200 mile or more trips in a day. That means a Tesla or BMW i4 type and size of car to avoid motorway service station chrging challenges Hopefully better technology (and a better charging network) may change that equation soon.

      The range is super on this car, it’s the charging which is an issue as it’s not suited for road tripping (stop and go). But I agree, nothing wrong with the range it offers.

    All depends on what you use the car for. I’d say this type car is mainly for short trips and great town car. Although for small ev anything above 200miles on full charge is ok. Until these ev’s can go over 300 miles not sure I’d go for one as I’m a driving instructor.

    Not significant on this trip, but I have found driving in D is significantly more economical than driving in B. The brake pedal is regenerative up to the hard point, and coasting is a more efficient use of residual kinetic energy than regeneration, whenever you can avoid braking.

    Thanks for posting.
    One question - why relate the range of a car to its size? Many of us usually travel alone or with a partner and don't want a large SUV. That doesn't mean we don't regularly drive long distances. In fact, I don't drive my car across town, I walk... so the car is only ever used for longer journeys or regular trips between towns in rural areas.

    Air temperature is key to range and at 10c, it makes sense that you're range was much reduced, as too was driving at 71mph. I did Lowestoft to Tonbridge (134 miles) with 41% battery left in my Zoe ZE50 R135, albeit with OAT at 24c and a more sedate 60mph on dual carriageways. Worked out about 4.3 miles per kW.

    In July I managed Swindon to Bolton in my Zoe R135, approx 170miles with 20% to spare! After my tests, 68 on the clock works best I think, so not being too slow on the motorway.
    Clearly town/ A roads makes a difference as my average is usually 4.2 or above most of the time.
    My Volvo Recharge is a very different story ! 😂

    Quite useful. One commenter managed almost 7 m/kWh which is a real peak to achieve. 4 miles/kWh seems do-able in Model 3, Ioniq, etc, so that’s the starter for ten. I think permitting our electricity prices to domestic properties, to be susceptible to control and influence of Big Energy Gas & Oil (Big EGO as I refer to them), is a shockingly stupid position for the country to let itself end up. Nuclear is even worse, they extract price guarantees way in excess of present-day, like double, in order to even want to get into a bid for building a nuclear power plant. It’s absolutely standard. The more nuclear we have, the more the kWh price heads to £1 a unit. It feels like the government energy strategy is literally written by shareholders of BP. Lastly, I concur about speeds up to 70mph or so, they rip energy out of a battery. My experience is an old Nissan Leaf though, even 70mph it only could last 40 minutes or so, it was in short pathetic. And an unwelcome surprise, as we had 250 miles to travel in a cold night. 9 hours. Kids. No. Did it once. Old diesel, 4.5 hours with a break the length we wanted. Zoe is much better, the bigger the battery, the less this high-drain use damages efficiency. Take care all.

    the range of my zoe R135 (on avarage) is about 370 Km (summer) (highway and country roads combined ) ,at an average speed of 90-95 KM/h, BUT, driving this car in wintertime will reduce the range with approx 70 KM ! Batteries do not like cold and hot conditions.. but price versus range, this car is a winner!

    longest range you can get with max speed is eco mode +full throttle :) I know you cant reach max speed with eco mode, but it's the best combination of high speed/long range

      eco mode at constant 65mph wont use any less than "normal mode" at constant 65mph.
      Eco mode just puts a speed limiter and acceleration limiters (ignoring the reduced AC performance).

    I love our ZE50. It's the 110, so we see more miles per kWh than the 135. It's quite capable of driving from Swanage to Grimsby without having to recharge, carrying 2 adults plus luggage - and my mobility buggy neatly in the boot space without having to fold the rear seats. (I made a video of that.) Sure, it has a few deficiencies, but not enough to make me want to buy a different car.

    There's a massive buffer under 0 percent on the Zoe R135. Typically another 20 miles, so with 6% left you'd likely be able to drive another 30+ miles comfortably

      only on later ones - my first one powered down at -2 miles.... but did 225 miles in summer
      later 135s struggle to do 200 unless u charge past '100%' and discharge below 'zero'
      would love 5mls/kw and 60 kw pack and only a 10% drop in winter :) - Should b possible next year

    From what I've seen so far 60/70 makes surprisingly little difference in the ze50. It was a huge difference in the ze20. The ABRP app told me this when i was messing with the settings and a real world drive confirmed it.
    Its not the best but its good enough, far more practical now you can use rapid chargers

    Zoe would be no use for my trips to daughter an dsister. Usually about175 miles and as I have difficulty walking I cannot risk running out of power,
    So for now I'll stick with economical turbo diesel that gives me 70mpg all day.

      my thoughts exactly, my R135 is in for service for this, if you calculate from video, he gets the exact buggy "44.x kWh" net battery capacity as everybody (fluctuates from 42-48 all the time). I actually think Renault did this on purpose to save batteries and never have them fail due to degradation, as I see most people just don't notice it, and there was no recall ever "just for people who notice we do update" (so I was told at the dealer). Bjron also got his buggy on review and thought it was a faulty module, no updates since then.

The Zoe 50wh is the only thing that can do what I'm looking for. Id love a propilot in addition as it's a commuter car but you can't get everything youd like ..... Cautious about reliability though

      @@ando5899 actually gross capacity is I think 56 kWh, net 52, but with this BMS fault you get only 44 kWh, which preserves your battery forever lol :D yes, there are a lot of links, just google "ZOE 50 SOH FIX", basically it's four different computers that need updating from Renault.

    Ev won’t suit everyone right now. But if you are honest with yourself and an ev will suit you it can be very cost effective. New prices are silly though, so I’m considering a used Zoe at about 11k as my driving patterns do suit ev.

    hmm from amsterdam to lodz Iwas able to make 390km on a charge with 110km/h on summer tires A/A rating , when was 32C temp

    Now maybe my maths is not very good, but, if it's got 52kwh of usable battery and was doing 3.4miles per kwh, shouldn't it be able to go a good 170 miles?

    The distance is fine if like me you are old and need a nature break every two hours maximum ! What would be of greater concern is the availability of a charger straight away - otherwise a charging stop becomes a pit stop waiting for a charger to become free with tea and food which will bring the two hours between stops down to one hour lol.

    Tempted to buy a Zoe but the range would worry me on a journey of any length. My ageing ICE car manages 300 miles on £40 of petrol with no problem. Faster charging and 250 miles range and go for a Zoe.

    3.4Miles/kWh is way short of the Renault claim. In addition it is not a LMFP battery so the 80/10 rule applies so dont regulalry charge to 100% or discharge below 10%. Range becomes even less. Anyone paying 30k for a real world range of sub 150 miles needs a visit to the Shrink and some serious analysis.

    Any EV owner who wants to maximise range won't drive at 70 on the motorway, on road trips I drive on motorway and DC at 60-62 GPS speed in my 40kWh Nissan Leaf, obviously my road trips aren't just on national speed limit roads but on my last 700 mile road trip I averaged 4.8 miles per kWh, if I drove the Zoe like that I'd expect it to be more economical than my Leaf.

    Drop your speed by 5mph. It would make next to no difference on the journey but give you roughly 4.2m/KWh. That is where my car sits and it is a constant saving if you commute.

    150 miles is better than my 2016 Zoe which gets 65 miles but the difference between what it predicts at the start compared to what you get is just unacceptable

    Barely 150 miles ! Not 3 hours driving ! And then can’t even charge the thing ! Utterly stupid !
    I’ll soon be heading down to Bibury , I doubt a refuel will be required for the round trip back to Bury , in my 2.4 litre petrol .

    My humble ice car has a range of 500 miles on a full tank of the devils fuel that cost £50, i think it I'll give ev's a miss until they can get somewhere close to that. 😂

    Why do you range test on motorway? Everyone knows that electric cars don't like motorway ! When I drive on motorway with my electric car i sit a 60mph, electric cars do best off motorways!

      Ha ha, have a look at the stats an electric car is much less likely to catch fire than a petrol car ! (3.5% per 100k petrol cars / 0.025% per 100k electric cars)
