    Greetings from Australia. Great video & info, however, I always thought that all suspension components needed a final tighten & torque once the full weight of the car was on the ground, bit difficult I know without an inspection pit, but I have been toldthat in numerous workshop manuals & other how-to videos. Just wish parts down under were morecost effective like yours. Some of our prices for parts are prohibitive. Thanks mate.

    A lot of good tips, and this whole demonstration is super helpful because it's very similar setup to an IS200 / 300. Nice one. But completely contrary to all that is 3:51 oh my word... Just use a ball joint separator FFS.

    That strut bolt is an eccentric bolt used for alignment. You need to hold the nut and undo the bolt.
    That is why that but has those notches.

    So this is pretty good video and it does show you how to do the job however I skipped a lot of these steps and was able to save time and effort. First off you don't need to remove the upper strut mount bolts you also don't have to remove the steering knuckle caliper or any of that stuff. If you're just doing lower control arms you don't need to do anything with upper control arm, sure doing all that gives you more room but the room gained for the amount of work is mimal.

    • @thecoloradocultivator9166
      @thecoloradocultivator9166 10 месяцев назад

      Also just unbolt the lower ball joint from the knuckle but leave the ball joint in the control arm, pull the control arm and ball joint out as one (you're replacing both anyways)

    hello i have the very same car (2000 lexus gs300) and just got the ball joint replaced because it failed while i was driving ( i was driving slow, no one was hurt but cost me a lot). Now i want to replace my shocks(with coilovers and a very conservative drop) as well as my upper and lower control arms to make my suspension more reliable. My friend has a lift and i plan to do the repairs myself with the kit you offer. Can I do this without ruining the new ball joint that was recently installed? I would appreciate a response thanks.

    • @1AAuto
      @1AAuto  4 года назад +3

      +Javier Pacheco You should be able to simply loosen the nut on the ball joint to lower the control arm and replace the struts/shocks. 1aauto.com

    How do you know if the lower control arms are bad? My Lexus dealer said mine need replaced, but I have no idea how to verify that. What goes wrong with them? Rust?

    • @thecommonsenseconservative5576
      @thecommonsenseconservative5576 3 года назад +1

      Look where its connected to the body. Probably worn out and you can see metal etc

    • @TheShakir98
      @TheShakir98 2 года назад +1

      control arms usually don't go bad, its the bushings that get rotten or cracked with time. So instead of changing the bushings, dealers charge you for the whole control arm. The sign of a bad control arm is usually clunking, tires getting unbalanced wear and so on.

    • @MRMAN-wb1tv
      @MRMAN-wb1tv 2 года назад

      Bushings go bad. The arms themselves RARELY fail which could be catastrophic if steel snaps. It's labor intensive to remove the parts, remove the bushings, replace bushings, and reinstall the parts. So replacing the part is actually cheaper.
