  • I have to make you aware that this flight was carried with a change of hang point. The NINE comes with 3 hang points. I have flown it on the rear hang point before, however, these few flights were carried out on the middle hang point which had a big change on the overall speed and handling. I was so surprised how balanced this wing is and also the amount of power the Polini 303 provides.
    My trike is due to be delivered soon so stay tuned for future video on the Flylight NINE.

      @@GolfFoxtrot22 So is yours on the rear hangpoint currently? And will you be moving it or are you happy with it where it is? I'm guessing on the rear one there won't be such a need to actively slow the wing down on approach?

      Hi Stone, most of the tests have been on the rear, but this flight was on the middle hang point setting. I personally prefer it on the rear hang point as it feels more balanced. I can't imagine how fast it would be on the forward hang point but it's quick enough already 😁. I have to admit I picked up my NINE on Monday and have a few flights and am over the moon. I think it's going to appeal to a lot of fliers and I think it would suit the American market well. Flylight have had a lot of enquiries and it does fit the FAR 103 rules.

    • @GolfFoxtrot22
      @GolfFoxtrot22  9 месяцев назад +1

      The Adam and NINE are focused at 2 different markets. The NINE is very much focused at the SSDR market as it can't be sub70, the Adam is a Sub70 machine that can also be SSDR. I hope that helps.

    I have a question Giles, I'm not sure if you have an answer but I'll ask you anyway... Why aren't these trikes more popular in the US? I see 103 ultralights and I believe the Nine would qualify. I live in the US, I'm currently a PPG pilot and I want a Nine. Is pricing available? Can you ship these to the US? I love your videos, keep up the great work!

    • @FJ-gk3jb
      @FJ-gk3jb 7 месяцев назад +1

      Calibrated airspeed not to exceed 55KTS true and level. That could be a problem, depending on the engine and weight?

    • @GolfFoxtrot22
      @GolfFoxtrot22  7 месяцев назад

      Hi FJ, there is a US dealer now and yes the NiNE does meet the FAR 103 criteria, this is directly from the Manufacturer. "Yes, it meets part 103. It is max straight and level speed and using the calculator that the FAA issues the Nine's max level speed with 38hp engine is well below 55 knots. The stall speed is below 24 knots, the fuel tank is limited to 5 US gallons and the empty weight is way below 254 lbs". If you are struggling to get hold of them, they can be shipped to the US as I know of a few machines already in manufacture heading the the USA. You could contact Office@microaviation.co.uk and they will definitely be able to help and advise. My latest video has more details on the NiNE if you haven't already seen it. Just trying to help.

    • @stone8597
      @stone8597 5 месяцев назад +1

      I also live in the States and wonder why they're not more popular. About four years ago I purchase an Aeros ANT and love it...very high quality and lots of fun. One of the problems here in the US, I believe, is there's not many placed to get trained and you MUST have training. Once you learn, it's like riding a bike, but flying a three axis machine does not translate to these trikes. Also, for years here in the States hangers were cheap and easy to find... I don't think it was this way in Europe or the UK... thus they flew trikes because they could transport them easily. But now in the US hangers are getting hard to find and very expensive. With my ANT I can squeeze in with just about anybody, pull it out, and have it ready to fly in less time then it takes me to get my PPG (I fly one of those too) set-up and ready to fly.

    Whatever happened to Low and Slow?
    Recently you were racing an XL. Now you want to race a 912 hotship.
    The XL performance gives you more hours in your log book.
    And more time to admire the "map" below you which is England.
    Or whithersoever you wander...

    • @GolfFoxtrot22
      @GolfFoxtrot22  7 месяцев назад

      Hi Neil, I still have the Peabee and I'll be keeping that for a very long time. I definitely can't afford a 912 but the joy of the NINE is that it can fly both slow and fast, low fuel burn and still be transportable. So I don't feel I have gone too far from the Peabee mantra. Do you still have your XL?

    • @GolfFoxtrot22
      @GolfFoxtrot22  9 месяцев назад

      Hi Tom, I hope you are keeping well? The glide is a little worse as you definitely know you are going down when the engine goes to idle, but you really are moving forward with a nice turn of speed. There aren't any Vx or By figures for this wing so I can't give an accurate answer, all I can say is it's rapid after flying mine last night.
