- Wow, the Polini 303 gives so much power and the climb rate is just mental when combined with this wing. I Finally get to take the New AEROS NINE wing and the Flylight NINE trike with the Polini 303 combination on a few cross country flights to see how it handles together. This has been a privilege to be part of the initial flights of this wing and now the trike.
My trike is due to be delivered soon so stay tuned for future video on the Flylight NINE.

That's a real go places machine, looking forward to following your adventures in the future.
PS, Did you have to peek at the registration when you called Rothwell? 😃
Haha, yes, I had to look a few times. Flying so many different aircraft I can never remember where I am. Let the adventure commence
Great video again hope you had fun.
Hi Lee, another good night shift 😁? Yes it was nice to be flying for several reasons, testing as well as food.
Looks a Awsome machine Giles bet your well happy.if weather is good for next weekend as thay say I should be I be doing some figures on the 3 bladed prop I was chatting to you about I had a 20 min flight last weekend and was getting 3 to 400 rpm less than the 2 blade in cruse but need a couple of hours flight to do some figures with fuel also have the vector blades fitted no torque at all on take off and in flight .but good to see you flying the nine buddy
I certainly am happy with mine. Clearly it had to be in yellow and black.
The Nine looks very impressive and great fun at the same time, Giles. It must be a great feeling knowing you're contributing to the testing. Well done, and keep the vids coming 👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Hi Kevin, it is a weird feeling, because I never thought 2 years ago I'd be involved in this way or doing what I'm doing now. I suppose dreams only happen when you try and have a go.
@@GolfFoxtrot22 You're well worth it because of all the effort you've put into bringing this type of flying to notice. Well done!
Nice vlog! You inspired me to buy a dudek hadron 3 and now over 170 hours later still love it! The nine wing looks a lot of fun and maby my new hobby! Keep posting video's😊 thnx and Greetz from Belgium
Oh wow, that feels like a life time ago and I'm so glad you are still flying the H3, I'd have another one tomorrow if I could afford to fly both. How accurate was my review, just curious that was all. Thank you for supporting the channel.
@@GolfFoxtrot22 you're hadron 3 review was spot on! 😁
@@driesgoossens4156 that's good to know. Thank you for letting me know.
Hang glider back in the day. That looks fun!
The new Flylight NINE is an amazing machine, however, the Flylight Adam and Peabee are much more akin to the hang glider world and so much fun to fly. Welcome to the channel.
You have such great fun... Thanks again for a great watchable video...
Hi Al, glad you enjoyed it.i bet you are getting battered by the storms atm?
Yes its right on top of us...65 mph winds and rain.. Oh well just have to go on the flight sim
Any excuse to fly 🤣 Sywell looked VERY busy! The Nine looks to be shaping up to be a crackin single seater that will keep up with the bigger flexwings, which is great as it hopefully allows more flying with friends!
Yes, Sywell was very busy both outbound and inbound. It took me ages to get out. Yes, I think the slightly rearward hang point will make this a cracking machine, only slightly slower but better fuel burn. I'm really quite excited to get this machine broken in and on some xc flights.
I've just realised that I've stopped at those services numerous times when travelling for work. I never knew there was an airfield opposite.
Hi Nat, same here. It normally times with needing an admin stop, and the occasional burger. :)
Another great vid giles👍
Hi Shane, it's going to open up a few more doors. But the Peabee is still staying in the fleet.
that's good news..... i'll be able to keep up with you then😄@@GolfFoxtrot22
Only if you fly in the south west of England 🤣
Great job Giles. You made me hungry for lunch. 😊
Hi Wayne, sorry. Glad you enjoyed it though.
Man! That thing jumps off the ground! Hope you enjoyed your Maccies! I really like the music you put on the end of the video.
Hi Tom, this is the chap I used for the music, I pay for the epidemic sound version, but this is his should take you to his YT site. ruclips.net/video/UjEYGsWv5AY/видео.html
I did enjoy my treat day and yes it does leap off the ground.
@@GolfFoxtrot22 The photo for that music could be shot in the area I want to fly in. Looks like the Rattlesnake Mountains area. Probably isn’t though.
@@tomcoryell I hope tha link to the music worked
Great, fast wing, much faster than my Grif3dc, too bad it's not a Sub70, I'd really like a wing like that👍
Hi Rainmondas, yes it is a quick wing, but unfortunately is outside the requirements of a UK SUb70 wing.
I wish you nice flights👍
I'd tuck the wing tensioning cable away next time, or is it like a jockeys whip to help keep the speed up? 😁 Only kidding! That wing looks a bit more of a handful than the Adam in the landing phase! Screen mod looks good, reminds me of a Quik screen?
I did spot that in the editing😁. It was only a handful as I was too fast for the first landing, but next week's video shows it in a much better light. I don't like the forward hang point.
@@GolfFoxtrot22 That is interesting Giles, as I'm sure you agree, the forward hang point brings the Adam wing to life compared to the rear? Such relatively small adjustments make such a difference!
@nsm3 indeed. The Adam is 2 different machines on the different hang points. I flew the NINE on the rear hang point later that day and it felt far more in tune.
Another interesting video Giles 👍👍
I hope it shows just what the NINE can do. I hope all is well? I was chatting to Michael Gaylor today.
@@GolfFoxtrot22 Hi Giles, I hope Mike is ok. I’ve just got back from Canada, great time but I’ve twisted my knee again. The nine looks great, I think I will stick to the Pee Bee. Hope to see you soon. I see you are very busy in the work shop.
Luvly Jubbly ... Giles ... you're a bona fide 'test pilot' 😉
Hi Turbo, I wouldn't call myself a test pilot, just testing what is known. Its been wonderful to be asked to help and give feedback.
I like this video and compare it to Terry's (Short Field) video. Line up with a Spit is great, fly to Duxford for that 🙂You do seem to be in love with the 9 🙂
Hi Algy, the Peabee/ADAM is a really fun machine and I will be keeping it for flying back home. The NINE is just something else, there isn't anything in the bigger 2 seaters that comes close, yes they may be faster, fly for longer but the NINE just seems to have a completely different feel about what it gives when you fly it. I would like to fly to Duxford one day, but there are loads of warbirds at Sywell now, Spitfire, P51, Seafury and a BF109.
Nice. Burgers and wings. Looking forward to playing with mine though 60 with hands off seems trimmed a bit fast, though what do I know. Just got to push harder at the end 😊
Hi Chris, the original hang point is much better and is only slightly slower but brings things back into a more balanced aircraft.
Cheers Giles looks a great fast wing. 🍔🍟 Even microlights can get to a local McDonald's. Cheers Bob (formally at East Fortune).
Hi Bob, it was a good day to really see how well it cuts through the rough stuff. I think I prefer it on the original hang point as it uses less fuel for not much a speed difference. The next video covers a lot more of how this combination of wing and trike work well together. The McDs was a nice trip. Where do you fly from now if not East Fortune?
@@GolfFoxtrot22 Not flying for 4 years now so no home airport. Balado is nearby now but there is no training there. Need to revalidate my license which has proven costly in the past.
@@92redferrari I thought Balado did both fixed and flexwing training now. They have a new a GT450 on their school fleet if that helps.
@@GolfFoxtrot22Thanks for heads up on gt450. I'm going to visit their cafe soon so I'll check what they do.
That looked fun!
Hi Neil, flexing pilots always have fun🤣💪👍.
@@GolfFoxtrot22 aye aye…. 😂
Tucker of the Trike world. LOL
How about a discussion on the winglets and any other design features? Maybe some secrets that are not to be shared? 🤔
Hi Doug, unfortunately, I don't know too much about the secret side of things.
@@GolfFoxtrot22 You could interview someone that does 😉
Your hang point should be at or slightly forward of the calculated aerodynamic center of gravity.
This wing and trike are still under test so it's not been fully positioned. Aeros and Flylight have been doing this a while so I trust them.i hope that clarifies things.
No problem.
Very good 👍
No wing tips!
Cheers
Hi Patrick, "No wing tips"?
I guess my hornet 250/nimrod would have met the rules for ssdr stall 18mph and quite light only flew at 30mph but it was the eighties would love a modern one
Hi David and welcome to the channel. I'll have to do some research on the Hornet. I won't say how old I was then, but it was seeing all the early microlight aircraft that helped give me a dream that one day I'd own a microlight.
@@GolfFoxtrot22 hornet nimrod used a robin 250 which was not as smooth as modern engines in fact it was rumoured they came into the country labelled not for aircraft use i used to put my hand on a downtube and set a throttle that gave least vibration i had an hour in a hornet rza and then went solo
Never did the licence lots didn't we flew from sloothby near Skegness from a strip i helped build (we also put 1000 trees in) i think its still under my workshops landlords name of Rogers field I sold when kids went to uni etc but have never stopped making rc models Still fit at 71 and would love to do it again (maybe not the frosty mornings though)
@@davidtuplin1001 wow, that is a line in history.
Awesome 👌
Hi Andrew, I'm glad you enjoyed it.
She looks rather lively to say the least! 🙂
Hi Dan, it must have been the edit as it was really quite well behaved. It was a unstable day but I really didn't feel it.
@@GolfFoxtrot22 I suppose it was more the landing which gave that impression, plus the rather dynamic reaction to that lump not long after takeoff. Looking forward to seeing more of this amazing machine. 👍😁
@@clearprop I was way too fast on approach. The bump on take off wasn't that bad as was the only one I had during all 3 flights. You'll appreciate the next video for confirmation. :)
Was that Street Hawk down your left hand side as you waited at the hold? Great video as always.
Streethawk, wow that's a blast from the past. No unfortunately it was a boring BMW.
Fast food for a fast wing, appropriate.
Indeed, but I think I spent longer there than the trip to get it. I certainly wasn't going to eat it in flight.
Which RPM do you have with the 303 at trim speed and what is the fuel consumption?
Hi Tom, this was a test flight on a forward hang point so won't really be an accurate figure. I now have my own machine which has been correctly jetted so I'll be doing some more testing to give you some more accurate numbers. I hope that helps.
@@GolfFoxtrot22 Thanks, I look forward to the Information. I am Aeros Dealer in Germany and Test Pilot for the Geiger Electric Drives
No retracts? They're worth a couple of knots. I love mine. Makes it quieter and more efficient.
Hi Ed, I think Mark has aged Ben if he'll make a retractable version.
...and how long is the takeoff distance?
It's easily less that 60 meters. With 38 hp it leaps off the ground.
Is the 9 bigger than your aircraft wing?
Hi Simon, the NiNE is 9 square metres in surface area. The Fox and Adam wings are 13 square metres. It's why the NiNE wing struggles to confirm to the requirements for a Sub70 wing in terms of it's heavier and won't stall below 23mph. Does that answer your question or have I over answered 😜.
@GolfFoxtrot22 Thank you. Yes so the smaller wing has a higher wingloading, therefore higher stall speed. Cheers.
