Don't let people give you heat for not knowing traditional dishes... you're pregnant and you have a very young daughter...this isn't necessarily the best time for everyone to be cooking those dishes if you want to also spend time on working your career and also spending quality time with family...a recipe/ technique of cooking can always be learned whenever you're ready!

Very true! However, I’d highly advise anyone to keep/learn recipes from the elders. Sometimes by the time you feel ready it’s too late. This advice is for myself too. I consider my mom an excellent cook and hope I can learn her recipes and way of cooking. I watch @beryl ‘s channel, and I’m amazed how many times our family memories are connected to food. So many people are trying to recreate recipes for the taste/nostalgia after losing a family member. You never know when loss will happen, but at least food can serve as a comforting reminder.
Also it’s usually healthier. But yes-definitely not simpler

Try adding a little bit of turmeric to the lentil soup it gives a nice colour and flavour. You can also purée it with a hand blender. Kids enjoy it puréed
