Musyrifah Mukhtar Once the imam marries you with the 2 witnesses present, you’re Islamically married and can touch your spouse. Don’t confuse culture with religion.
Thank you for being nice, Anna. I realize there are very rude and confused people in the comments section so let me clarify. Some people prefer to do 2 ceremonies; the one shown in the video makes Amanda and Mohamed religiously married in the eyes of God. The reason it’s done this way before their larger wedding ceremony is so that they can go out together and keep their relationship halal (accepted) because we’re prohibited from dating in Islam. Also, it’s not really acceptable to prolong an engagement. So religiously, they could’ve called this their wedding and done-they don’t need anything else. But CULTURALLY, some Arabs do this and refer to it as an “engagement” as their way to announce to people they’ve religiously committed to each other and next they will have a huge wedding ceremony where they invite more people to celebrate. It is confusing because people like to conflate culture with religion, but I can assure you that once you have 2 agreeing parties (bride and groom), imam or religious elder to preside over them and ask the girls father (or male representative) for her benefit and on her behalf if the mahr (gift to bride) is set and agreed upon, and 2 male witnesses, that’s it-done-married.

Musyrifah Mukhtar dont spread none sense after this ceremony with the imam they can actually have kids and it would be 100% halal there is not “legal marriage” in islam that’s only for the country’s law, this is the real marriage in islam
The part where your fiancé and dad were holding hands was so pure. I remember a few years ago when my husband and dad did that...I lost my dad 3 months ago and this made me so emotional 🥺 mashallah congratulations Amanda, I feel like you guys are family 💖

This is so interesting to see how weddings take place in different places! Where I live, the couple usually has the nikkah in the morning and then the big reception in the afternoon or evening, and then its done

Awh watching this a year later but MashAllah! I’m South Asian muslim, and I love seeing how different cultures celebrate their weddings. May Allah keep you guys blessed! Also you & your sisters have such a sweet relationship! I can tell based off of only a few videos that you guys all have such sweet personalities. I’m Canadian as well so it’s great seeing how other Muslim’s are able to balance their life and keep their identity in a western country :)
