Somali Muslims are so humble. I met one person in London. We had iftar together. One thing really surprised me that he was not keen to eat too much food during iftar like we Bangladeshi, Pakistani, Indians do. He had date, milk, rice yogurt and then went to pray maghrib prayer. They are too focused on Ramadan, prayer not into food so much. May Allah bless Somali people. Love from Bangladesh.
MashaAllah I ask Allah to help our Muslims brother and sisters around the world to remember that ramadan is the month of giving and worship Allah but not wrong to eat with loved ones

You should genuinely try fresh and sour Camel milk as it is a staple in traditional Somali cuisine its also really good! I would also recommend trying Oodkac some also call it Muqmad, which is another amazing type of meat most Somalis do not highlight for some reason as a staple Somali dish which it is, and it is best paired with Canjeelo/Anjero.
Yes, north Somalia has a masjid with two qibla’s one to Jerusalem and another to Makkah. Islam was in north east Africa or the horn before 99% of the rest of the world.
0:45 interestingly there is a mosque in Somalia in the region of Somaliland called ""Mosque of the two Qiblas" and was constructed in the 7th century CE, not long after the hijra-to Abyssinia. The mosque's name, refers to its two mihrabs, which are oriented northwest towards Jerusalem and north towards Mecca as it was built before the change of qibla was revealed and is one of the oldest mosques in both Africa and the world
The eastern region of Ethiopia and northern region of Kenya belonged to Somalia until the ‘60s, when European colonialists divided up Somalia and gave its regions to its neighbours in order to weaken them. Ethiopia was considered an ally to Britain and other western powers in the Horn, in part due to Ethiopia being the only historically Christian force in the Horn of Africa (whereas the Horn was predominantly Muslim). That is why Somalis are the third largest ethnic group of Ethiopia today and exist in large numbers in Kenya. so technically at the prophets time most of Abyssinia was Somalia ;)

Jazakallah for representing my country respectfully with a knowledgeable sheikh. The canjeelo and also called Laxoox, can be had with dried small cubes of beef, drenched in sesame oil and black tea. That is also a good combo that is popular. I wish they also feared the Qahwa, specially Banaadiri Qahwa along with Xalwa Kismayo. It is worth pointing out Zeila in Northern Somalia, has a mosque with two Qibla. That is how old Islam is in Somalia. Lastly, I don't understand the fascination of banana with rice. I have some some parts of India and even Asia that fry banana and eat it. It really isn't that fascinating, some people love go have pineapple with their pizza too.

In my family it's common to have the sambuusa inside the bur and also a date. It's so delicious, especially with the date inside to give it that sweet-salty taste combination.
Yeah the Sambusa and buur combo is actually quite popular than you think. I had a chance to visit Mogadishu and Hargeisa a couple times in 2016-2020 and every ramadan I always see that combo
