Maybe Ebro feels like Trump needs to work harder for the black vote. He sits in his ivory tower making racial comments and pushes for legislation that hurts back people (just proposed/suggested Stop and Frisk in Chicago) while Kanye wants to bring it to him no questions asked. Trump has done nothing to reach out to the black community -- despite what he tells you. Democrats may not always have the best message, the loudest voices or the right attacks, but they are always fighting for the things that make life better for the majority -- if it's healthcare, Medicare, Social Security, etc. all of which the Republican's are trying to end. The idea that someone gets help buying food when they cannot afford it makes the right sick...they cannot stand the idea of helping anyone with anything. They have no concerns about anyone unless it benefits them...hence the lunch meeting. Trump needs something from the black community so he will force himself to sit across the table from a black man and listen (maybe) to what he has to say. So I've been thinking about this all morning... my initial response was "dialog is good, stop roadblocking progress" but I applied that to 2 rational men trying to work out differences. As I listened more to Ebro (although i do not prefer how he voices his thoughts, sounds arrogant) as I near the end I do come to the same conclusion... a meeting would be a big media spectacle with Kap thinking "change and resolution for our minority communities", Kanye thinking "i put this on, i am amazing" and Trump thinking "i'm great, even my enemies want to work with me, i'm the best negotiator, i win" ... I realized this would be a bad meeting, i hope it does not happen. Let the next 2 yrs pass as fast as possible and get this guy out of office. Trumps track record speaks for itself, he takes meetings, says what you like to hear, then goes on twitter and roasts them, making him look like the winner. Meanwhile, his policies ONLY change to benefit his tax bracket.

A lot of confused folks in the comments. This ain't the Kim situation where she wanted a specific thing done. Kaepernick is a part of and helping lead an entire movement: a movement Donald Trump has time and again belittled, insulted, and purposefully mischaracterized. Trump has shown where he stands (no pun intended) on these issues, and it's from a place of hate and prejudice. Until Trump admits how he's been wrong on these issues (which essentially has zero chance of happening), there's no benefit to playing into these political games.
Colin can't lead any movement if he doesn't even speak about the movement. Colin will be relegated to a glorified Nike pitchman, that's it. Real change will happen if he meets with those who can change laws, not just doing commercials for Nike shoes

Kaepernick has shown with his actions and his literal millions in donations that he cares more about the movement than some media moment. I've read many of the comments here (unfortunately not all), and I must say that most of them are civilly presented, which is a good thing. After hearing this entire program, I would have to side with Ebro based on principle. See, one of the key things that Ebro mentions which is truly insightful was the fact that we are a number of weeks from the mid-term elections. The optics of a "summit" of sorts would undoubtedly soften the President's image across "on the fence" voters. The voters could vote Republican or not at all, which would effect Democratic candidates across the nation. What is important to understand, is that Colin's argument is with society as a whole, not congressional representatives or candidates at home. With the dubiousness of the timing, Colin is inserted into a battle that he more than likely is not concerned with at the moment. This is what makes the position seem so absolute from Ebro's perspective. As a VP for Hot 97, he has direct access to Kaepernick's wife, and you better believe that the stakes need to be at the ultimate level before he uses his professional title to initiate a personal connection which will most certainly have national ramifications. You HAVE TO THINK THINGS THROUGH.

So I've been thinking about this all morning... my initial response was "dialog is good, stop roadblocking progress" but I applied that to 2 rational men trying to work out differences. As I listened more to Ebro (although i do not prefer how he voices his thoughts, sounds arrogant) as I near the end I do come to the same conclusion... a meeting would be a big media spectacle with Kap thinking "change and resolution for our minority communities", Kanye thinking "i put this on, i am amazing" and Trump thinking "i'm great, even my enemies want to work with me, i'm the best negotiator, i win" ... I realized this would be a bad meeting, i hope it does not happen. Let the next 2 yrs pass as fast as possible and get this guy out of office. I've read many of the comments here (unfortunately not all), and I must say that most of them are civilly presented, which is a good thing. After hearing this entire program, I would have to side with Ebro based on principle. See, one of the key things that Ebro mentions which is truly insightful was the fact that we are a number of weeks from the mid-term elections. The optics of a "summit" of sorts would undoubtedly soften the President's image across "on the fence" voters. The voters could vote Republican or not at all, which would effect Democratic candidates across the nation.
What is important to understand, is that Colin's argument is with society as a whole, not congressional representatives or candidates at home. With the dubiousness of the timing, Colin is inserted into a battle that he more than likely is not concerned with at the moment. This is what makes the position seem so absolute from Ebro's perspective. As a VP for Hot 97, he has direct access to Kaepernick's wife, and you better believe that the stakes need to be at the ultimate level before he uses his professional title to initiate a personal connection which will most certainly have national ramifications. You HAVE TO THINK THINGS THROUGH.

I truly believe that hate and ignoring the other part isn't the solution but dialog and peace should be the solution. I'm not saying you can make someone who hates you love you, but you can make someone who hates you understand you, and that's what I believe Kap should do.

Ebro, that's that issue I have with you, "Colin does talk he is out here doing his thing." He has no problem talking when he was kneeling in the NFL. Now that he is out of the NFL he has gotten very quiet when he should be talking more and not just on social media. On ESPN with Congress, with president and vice president.
