I don't have issues with interracial dating in and of itself. However, it does seem hypocritical and ironic if you're pro black but only date white people. It speaks to a deeper, inferiority complex and that your pro black stance is a way of overcompensating for your guilt. But at the end of the day, let people date whoever they want to date

I don't care who anyone dates/marries as long as that they don't put down black women in the process. Why can't they just love who they want without saying things like "I only date non-black women because black women are this or that".
Also I don't appreciate people use nerdiness to cover up anti-blackness. Plenty of black women love nerds. Just say you prefer white women and don't make disparaging comments about women because you claim none will ever like you. As for the original question I am unsure of the answer because when your pro something you tend to go all for that thing i.e. black spouse, black kids, supporting black businesses. I also know plenty of people who are "woke" but also have white spouses ex. Harry Belafonte, Julian Bond, Quincy Jones, etc. So maybe the titles should separate. Maybe culturally aware and pro-black are two different things.

sunshineblue1981 because we give it energy. If we avoided and scoffed at them like majority of white women do. If WE dismissed them and made over African, Afro-Puertorican/Dominican, etc, and White/European and Asian men in their faces; pedastaled Nigerian, Kenyan, Ghanian, Japanese, Korean, Samoan, Arab, etc... men as epitome of sexy, the whole dynamic would shift.
I'm meeting more and more black women broadening their horizons. The younger generation is much wiser than we have been. I have a coworker married to an Arab American gentleman. Never seen anybody smile so much gushing about their spouse. A young woman I worship with is courting a very debonair and savvy African gentleman. I myself have actively entertained the interest of an ethnic European man and a Puertorican man who was an activist for the impoverished community. Both were driven, handsome and universal. I limited myself for concern of how it would read to others.
But I find the more open in spirit and socially open I am the more white and hispanic guys approach. We have too long given black men the lock on our affections. They know if their sex symbol status dies tomorrow there will be a quarry of desperate waiting black women to take them back.
We give black men too much control over our collective emotions. We are begging them like a rejected ex begs her ex to love her. When somebody doesn't want you you let them go. We gotta stop begging for loyalty. Sitting on fences drying up, getting old. Letting them impregnate and concubine us, while they choose to marry other.
Go live life and be open to love in any form. We are the most educated demographic. But we do the least traveling. Exploring, etc. Why. Because we are too busy being domesticated and trained like dogs to beg black men to love us.
If you prefer black cool. But there are more black men to go around than these black American, confused, self hating men. Try a different flavor.

Not even 2 min in and I take serious issue. Why do ppl always use that line that Black women don't check for "nerds"?? It's a character assault that's so incredibly dismissive to Black women and consistently paints them as shallow.
No, what likely happened is that the "nerdy Black guy" kept liking and going after the "traditionally hot" girls, they weren't interested, they develop some "Black girls don't like Black nerdy guys" complex, and dismiss dating them because "back then they didn't want me".... All the while paying dust to the nerdier Black girls from childhood to adulthood. Ppl don't talk about nerdy guys not wanting nerdy girls

They always put us in the worse category. Always assassinated our character always making excuses on why they don't date us. Instead of telling their truth and every one truth is different. In Kanye case we all know he wants to be a successful white man. Some like the perks. Some are weak. I do believe in true Love. date who makes you happy. I don't care what race you with just don't act funny because you see me I'm not thinking about you. I hate when you see couples and the black guy acts like he not with Becky like who cares I also hate when Becky grab on Tyro because she see me like really. I find it disturbing that the two non-black men are speaking for the only black man in the room. Also, non-black men speaking down to black women on behalf of black men for not.....being his preference?? Ive followed DG for years and now we get blackballed because....we don't.what exactly? Also, black men call in the show and non-black men police their perspective...as a authentic black man?? SAD and this is why these conversations exist. AMERICA: date who you want. Most black women are COMPLETE CONSERVATIVE nerds; we don't all grow up in the hood or in the barrio. Most black women either hide it or stray away from it because black men have usually strayed from structure for "street culture". Black women are the #1 educated demographic of PERSON in the USA and because Donald Glover doesn't want US, we should be ashamed??.... Stop policing black women for what black men choose to do. Donald Glover will cash in on presenting a "refined" black male perspective, and black women will somehow be blamed for whatever its that will lay on us. Remember it was a black woman who did the math by hand that put a white man on the moon....black women are nerds, we just also serve as the blame for what is uncomfortable for the world to deal with. Last, the reason a black woman wouldn't want the black dude in the clip is because he doesn't speak for himself to allow two non-black men, not only chastise black women, but speak for the perspective of the black man--when they're not. They're DOLEZOLing.......so, nah.

You can't mix modern with tradition. The fact is even if you date outside of your race, you still can be a part of the cause to contribute. However, traditional pro-black movements do not allow interracial relationships into the movement. Do you think a traditional Pro-White movement will accept interracial movement?

If you fall in love with someone that loves you, respects you, and respects your culture than you're lucky. It doesn't matter what race they are. And truth is, black people have no right to be upset. Black women were not looking at Donald 8 years ago. His hair was nappy, he never had a shape up, his clothes were 2 sizes too small and he was making corny joke raps. Now that it's all Redone and Atlanta, y'all wanna get mad that you didn't see his greatness before? Don't be mad that you missed the bag. This woman saw his potential back then. Now you want him to leave her for a black girl? But if it was reversed y'all all be quoting Kanye West at him right? Black women (and men) need to stop pingeonholing blackness and maybe other races will stop getting all the nerdy/academic black people. This why Logic married a white girl and Issa Rae like Korean dudes.

Integration has failed Black people. As a matter of fact, it has made things worse in many ways. Even MLK jr said he's "Afraid that he integrated his people into a burning house!" So what we can sit at the front of a bus and drink from the same water fountain. There were more Black businesses and intact Black families back in the day. That quote was about the state of America as a whole, and the lack of empathy he viewed from people. He did not question whether integration was right, only whether it was worth it since America was already so broken. In fact, Dr. King begins that quote with "We have fought... for integration, as I believe we should have." and answers his own fears by urging people to "become the firemen" and not "let the house burn."

Lets be clear: People can do whatever they want.
You can be pro black and date outside your race, both of those things can be done. There aren't any rules against that.
What you CANT do though, is ignore how the world could potentially perceive you or your opinion of blackness once they realize your spouse is white.
The real question ought to be: Could having a white partner have an affect on your philosophy on pro blackness?
Honest answer? Maybe. The race conversation you'd have with a black partner if you're black, would be totally different with a white partner.

Or can you be authentically be for your people yet marry outside of "your" people. Can you be a KuKlux and have a black wife? Can you be a Nazi and marry Jewish? Can you f wit the Alt Right and have a Hispanic Wife or Husband? Can you be a black man in music, pushing the idea of blackness genuinely with a white wife? Is the subject. Now start over with that hahaha.
BTW, I believe it is a fine line. I think you can speak on the subject while being in an interracial relationship, and face the harsh responses that may come. I think it's disingenuous if you are going further and trying to establish yourself as something you are not, like a black revolutionary leader etc with purposes in monetary gain, or positioning yourself for something requiring that community, and without charity etc (actions).

If you are black and date outside your race you CANNOT call yourself pro-black. Rule no.1 of being pro-black is to love and procreate black children. What's the point in being problack when you could potentially have white grandchildren eventually.
Love, feelings, attraction don't even come into it. For example if you were problack and found yourself attracted to someone of another race you wouldn't act on it, you'd simply find a black person you like equally as much. Its a simple as that. So the answer is NO! You have no place claiming to be problack when you have a white partner, you can be about black empowerment but you are NOT PROBLACK. I know flaky black men have always had a problem excepting this and they try and use their white entitlement which rubbed off from there white partner to force their way into problackness.sick of it🙄

I agree to some extent, the beautiful black women Ive been interested only liked thugs, or hypermasculine dudes. I was out with this one girl (yes shes 23 but a girl mentally to me) in harlem and she was ready to throw it down, back, and sideways for dave east. I wanted to take her to museums and ish but she Just. Kept. Calling. Me corny. Id take that as an isolated incident but, there a some stringent gender roles that permeate out and only slightly above being a thug that these women view to be a man. I am pro-black but thats because I am black. My love interest, if she happens to be black it works but if not so be it.
I dont like donald glover either because he need to not get his money taken away if they get divorced, if hes single so be it.
Last thing, when black panther came out, a fviral tweet said, 5'9, likes anime, etc. I thought yall said these things were unexceptable, but because it was michael b jordan..... it was cool. Black men clearly have A LOT of work to do, with and for themselves but if yall not will to even talk about challenging those stansdards either there wont be many bmbw couples for much longer anyway. Miichael that is not just a black woman thing. There is a reason that the "bad boy" is an archetype in popular culture. They often get the "good girl" or they're who she is with before she meets the "right/nice/good guy". Maybe we can claim thug love with thug meaning a crimnal black dude type but it's a common attraction that many women fall into.

you absolutely can NOT be pro-black and date non-blac. That's like a self-contradiction in itself. Pro-Black means to be aware of the Colorism and the conditioning of mainstream that tells us Eurocentric features are greater, better, more desirable, etc. Pro-Blackness recognizes that fact and hence makes conscious decisions to combat that effort. None of which includes dating non-black. Lastly...pro-black= 'for blacks; in favor of blacks; etc'...meanings in support of black businesses, black ownership,..the promotion of all things black INCLUDING black relationship. donald with his mate is promoting Eurocentric

Being Pro Black is not about WHO you marry, it is about WHAT you do for the community, regardless of what color you are or who you are with. There is still a struggle with the perception of what being "black " is, and there is still an epidemic of low self esteem in our youth. This is why people get angry. I don't think anybody really cares who someone ends up with, they just don't want people of color to forget the sacrifice and the struggle once they get fame or fortune. There is always this underlying suggestion that people of color need to get away from their communities in order to be happy or successful, and if they return, it's not about uplifting, but showcasing or judging those who are still there, and then they start suggesting everyone needs to love freely and be color blind. Let us not forget that ghettos were CREATED for a reason and they still exist for a reason, and it is NOT because people of color are lazy. That's a lie. The reality is, the world is NOT colorblind and oppression still exists. Imagine with all of these new millionaires and billionaires, how many are going back into their communities and opening up schools or starting companies to employ people in those communities? How many are coming back and setting up programs to mentor our youth? How many are owners of property for affordable public housing or have taken on the project of creating better living conditions for people of color? I am sure "not many". Instead of talking about interracial dating, please use your time or your fame and fortune to talk about doing something positive (especially for the kids) in every black community you can find. That is what being PRO BLACK is about!

Your relationship can be testament to abolishing racism, and educating others who see your love about real love that transcends and breaks the bonds of our past oppression. Also inter-racial relationships are not just about Black/White dynamics. It can be East Asian/Black, and let’s talk about cross-cultural dynamics, Black/Hindu Indian, Black/Jewish, Black/Latino, etc. whatever it may be-It doesn’t really affect your legitimacy of being Pro-Black, at least to me. As a non American black person, from the outside looking in , one sometimes gets the impression that black men and women in America despise each other. Where I’m from, there could never be discussions about “black men are this” or “black women are that”, because everyone is black, so we don’t assume that a lack of compatibility in a relationship is a racial issue, we just find someone else. In the states there seems to be a painful rift somewhere(or maybe the internet is exaggerating it), so I can understand how someone who deemed themselves to be “pro black”, could make an active choice to be with another black person, to send a message of positivity about black relationships. The fact that blacklove is a hashtag, shows how limited those examples seem to be, in the media anyway. I remember reading some forums, when people first were introduced to Michelle Obama, and a lot of African American men seemed genuinely disappointed that he hadn’t chosen a wife that seemed more of a “prize” or at least validated their ideas on what true success looked like, but the example they set, gave birth to #blacklove. So while I find all relationships beautiful, I feel that black/black couples are somewhat demonized, and a person espousing “pro blackness” would likely be sensitive to that.

Ooh, I watch this from the UK and I really wish I could chime in and have my say. I hope Ebro & Rosenberg read these comments.
I think that when you look at healthy cultures, where they have pride in who they are, the majority will stay within their own group. BUT there will always be a percentage of people that will mix. I think that is normal, healthy and perfectly fine.
When you have a group of people where the majority consciously and consistently date outside their cultural group, you have to look at why that is happening. To me, it identifies a lack of love and respect for self, their own culture and history.
Note: I don’t believe in race, people are ethnically different and that’s it.

Monique L so I don't really get yr point because the majority of black men do date and Mary black women. It's only a small percentage that don't.

Black Americans overwhelmingly date within our own group, then some of us date/marry different black ethnic groups and some of us date/marry non-black people, usually white. The problem is that Black Americans don't marry much, so there's a lack of stable families in our communities. Only 24% of black men marry out in the US.

You from the UK, what's one of the thing they ask when you fill out doctor's forms? race. Just because it doesnt mean anything to you, doesn't mean people aren't still affected by it.

    • @moniquel6273
      @moniquel6273 6 лет назад +11

Omni Watts I think those forms are necessary and have their place. They ensure that the ethnic breakdown you have in a society is reflected in all areas, whether it be in the workplace, university etc etc
I think race is outdated, in the U.K. you can tick black African, black Caribbean, I think there is Caribbean other and there is black other. The reason they break it down like that is, just because 2 people are black it doesn’t make them the same. Ethnicity is what counts.

    White+White = White
    Black+Black= Black
    Black+White= Black
    Black+Asian=Black
    Black+Hispanic=Black
    Black+Anything= Black
The visuals may be hard to take but the results are very much Pro-Black.

The one-drop rule is racist! You are what the majority of your DNA is. If you mixed and procreate with a white person, that kid is white, period.

    • @tonyzan5268

The reality of the one drop rule is it's largely enforce today by defacto segregation. The reason they are considered black is because the black community largely accepts mixed race people much more than the white Community does. Most makes people feel more comfortable among black people and they do a long white people.

killing softly What MOST people aren't understanding is that white people aren't even the majority in this country anymore or are soon not to be.dont know exact numbers but their majority status been losing ground every Census last 3 times they have been done next one is 2 years away YET we call ourselves minorities..and they pull tricks like in certain instances like for example in jail or at certain workplaces they don't ASK u ur race but if ur skin is light??.They put u down as white without asking u what your race is BCS they are losing ground in numbers.Other races procreate in more numbers than they do and they might not be the minority JUST YET so I might have jumped the gun but it's Definitely in Peril or WHY would they select people's race for them??..I like ur thoughts on Race wish more people amongst u and amongst mine thought like that but REALITY is u and I both know it's not like that..

I just want to know why it's considered "racist" or "hateful" for black people to want to preserve their race, or the ones that do at least. What is so fundamentally wrong, to those threatened by it, about keeping your people alive and living long? I should go into the Jewish community and ask them why they continue to procreate with their own and never outside of their race. And should also ask what are the benefits from that because it seems like no one bats an eye at them. As well as the Chinese. Since it's a problem when black try to follow this practice, I need to talk to these muhfukkas.

    • @GearZNet

It's wrong because many black people are integrationist. They are eager to have access to nonblack sexual partners and thus become blind to the long term consequences of promoting non black unions.

If us as black people, want this interracial nonsense to no longer be an issue. we need to take some responsibility and address the mental messages the world tells our kids about their color and the insecurities that brings along with it.
As a black African who grew up in Africa, country 99.9%, I never even gave interracial marriage or dating a thought. but since moving to the UK, the obsession with it and the clear conflict between BM and BW leaving in the white western world, is a toxic issue that has to be addressed for the next generation

    • @Adjei88
      @Adjei88 6 лет назад +5

read what I wrote properly, the toxic issue that needs addressing is the damaged relationship between black men and women which only manifests in the western world.
Whilst there are going to be genuine interracial relationships, no doubt from my experience the rationale for some BM and BW to date out are very flawed. And a tid bit of that can be seen on YT, from videos about how BW dont date Black Nerds, to BW who say from their youth they were shunned by BM.
BM and BM wanting to look at other races as some "saviour" from themselves, is often grounded in a hurt past and insecurity.
For interracial relatonship not to be an issue, for black ppl which it clearly is, as we are the ONLY GROUP that posts tons of videos on here. We need to address the damaged relationships and where they stem from

I agree with you that relationships between black men and women in America are not always at its best and both sides share the blame. What I do not agree with is that black men and women look to other races as saviors. Personally, when I was single and saw an attractive woman (of any race) on the street, my thought was that she was attractive and I would like to get with her. I never even had the thought that dating this particular woman would make me more acceptable in Western culture. I do not think this is the case for most people. Me and my wife discussed this yesterday and I agree with her. People should live and let other live. If you want to only marry your race, that is fine. If others want to date outside their race, that is fine as well. I agree with one thing she said is that if you limit yourself to one race, you will miss out on a lot of potential partners. While other people obsess over race, my wife and I never even give it a second thought. We got married because we were in love and not because of some deep-rooted jungle fever. We are still together 20 years later and she was there for me from the beginning when I did not even have a car and had to bum rides to work to now where we can enjoy some of the finer things in life. With all of that being said, I still love black women. How can I not? My mother (God rest her soul and the strongest woman I ever knew), sisters, aunts, uncles, and most of my extended family are black. I think you have to love yourself first and be proud of who you are before you love anybody else.
