I love the color of that studio. I've also rarely seen any orange 🍊 Gibson. Just imagine if it would've been an orange burst. I think it would've taken it over the top. I suppose a black stinger would be to much to ask for though . Especially on a studio. I haven't seen many green either but didn't care much for the one on this series. The blue the red and the orange are the best looking. As far as green guitars I guess all I've got left to do is purchase a green motorcycle. I really got burnt out on green as a kid because it was associated with me due to it being a way of my mother being able to remember whose clothes are which. Which I imagine was a task since there was six boys including me in the house. But I've had the green car now since you had talked about the Studio I now own I bought it a year ago next month. Thanks again for teaching this old dog a few new tricks. I quickly went look at this guitar on your site and man it looks even better there. Also something about that black Toni Iomi SG in certain light makes it look like a deep dark green. I know it isn't since most of the angles show black. I've played a Studio and other Les Pauls with the 490 series here and there. While the pickups aren't bad I prefer the Seymour Duncans installed in my Studio.
Yeah, that’s freakin’ gorgeous. I would buy it, however, as I’m getting older, I’m finding my scumbag step daughter robbing my good shit more and more. Cops don’t give a shit, I suspect my amps live with local badges atm, so be sure to never get sick and end up in the hospital.
@@Damaged262 I'm sorry your going through that brother. My late wife's niece used to crash at our and my sister in laws house often. I had to lock up our meds so she and her boyfriend wouldn't get to them. Didn't work since I had a dead bolt on the door of our bedroom she and her boyfriend who left his size 11 1/2 print on the door . They apparently couldn't enter that way. But they force a window unit out of the only window and still got in. Jammed a security box I had open and stole my wife's meds she had left from her previous RX. I had some blood pressure meds that I couldn't take because they made me feel like I had the flu without a fever. Afterwards we always carried our meds with us. We soon after moved to a place we didn't have those issues. Only reason we found our all this happened was the niece found us at a local bar and gave us this big dramatic story of how they caught someone who broke in coming out the window. It was a terrible thing that we had to deal with and it broke my wife's heart that her niece would do such a thing.
Trogyly, there is a lot of BS nonsense going on all the time. Thanks for reminding me daily that I love guitars and really on a deep honestly level, they are all that matter.
Would love to see gibson do more automotive finishes for special editions. Bursts are great, but those kandy colors are gorgeous. Maybe even get some really nice pinstriping in there.
This is precisely why the Les Paul failed in 1960 (Sunburst was considered old and stodgy--"your Dad's guitar"). Gibson did not change it then and likely will not change it now. I am a Gibson fanboy and love the guitars but they are not exactly known for listening to the fan base. Also throw in the fact that if they DO make guitars different, the other half of the fan base revolts.
@@drjsmajor completely agree. I actually just got my first gibson les paul the other day a 60s standard unburst. Gorgeous guitar, not overly bursty. I've had epiphones for a long time and can afford better now. I think they should keep the classic bursts around, but I would love to see some variety outside of custom shop.
After 2001 all studios are the same thickness as the standards. Wicked color! The fretboard complements the finish. I’ve always been a fan of studios. They are very under appreciated and you can almost ways find a deal.
I have not heard anyone else say that. I had always heard that Studios were thinner but when I measured my 2008 and 2018, I found them to be the same as my Standards. I thought I just had some outliers or odd years (Gibson known for both). Glad to hear I am not the only one.
I swear if I had the money right now I would jump all over this guitar! I truly love it! *NOTE* I’d rip those pickups & electronics out and replace them. I’d have Jim Wagner Pickups loaded in there with coil splitting on them & a 1950’s wiring setup.
Sweet looking Nitrous Orange Studio, in this case the red grenadillo fretboard looks good! The Canadian dollar is low compared to USD so US buyers can get some great deals. BTW, headsup Trogly, our local shop dropped the price recently on that 120th Anniversary you bid on recently.
I was just thinking to myself, "Austin usually has a new video uploaded at 7pm EST, I wonder if he's working late on a new Trade Tuesday episode. It's been a while since I've seen one of those."
For chrome and other metals sometimes the product NevR Dull by Eagle One will remove scuffs that otherwise seem to not go away. You may have to lightly use a buffing wheel from your Dremel especially it being a small area. I suggest covering the body of any guitar if you are cleaning while the chrome is attached. Its a very strong chemical in the container and you have to pull off of the original tuft of material inside as much as you think youll need. It kind of looks like the material on some buffing wheels but its sort of like cotton. I think the burstbuckers in my Trad Pro III sounds better when coil split than the 490s. Other than that without the split there okay.
Wow I probably would have bought that Dean guitar for that price? but going by the prices that I have normally seen on you're site. I figured it would be higher than that. damn I should have looked. I noticed that Trogly was in a heavy metal mood today which is okay. although it's not my most favorite genre of music. that orange studio was alright by me. because it would work good for the genres of music I like. such as Rockabilly, Sixties Rock and Roll, and Classic Rock and Roll.
I'm a little surprised to learn that Customs and studios have the same pickups. I'm not sure if that's a bad thing for the custom or a good thing for the studio. But I mean they sound good so I don't know.
Such an amazing color, I love me some orange, too bad I only have a $600 ibanez that's probably worth half that now a days and I'm broke as a joke or else I'd actually try and make an offer
yes. Tap reduces the amount of winds in a coil (typically used on single coils, but not always) Split removes a whole coil in a humbucker running it as "one."

The guitar was a rare color, so at least $400 there, $200 on the hard case, $200 on the EMGs and that doesn't even take into effect the other mods/string butler. It was well worth it for people into that style of guitar
120 on a used emg 81/85 set, 200 on a bolt on dean, 200 on a molded case, 40 on an open box string butler. Total cost on everything would be 560 if you tried to get everything cheap so it's not that bad a price if you like it.
They are actually not ceramic. 490/498 set is in a lot of Les Paul's. Not sure if some years are better than others as several people have commented on the ones in this nitro studio not sounding that good. I have the 490/490 in my SG standard, and I love them.
