The AA, in 2022, were called out over 10,500 times for cars running out of fuel. If you push your luck with the fuel gauge, electric or petrol/diesel, you could find yourself sitting waiting for the tow truck.

Excellent review. I too have my doubts on electric cars, more to do with the charging infastructure, or lack thereof. Keep the content coming :)

I'll tell you why synthetic fuel is unlikely to succeed. Synthetic fuel needs four times the electricity per mile for production than an EV needs. So the reality is that your 200 mile range in your ID.3 will be effectively 50 miles using synthetic fuel. Hydrogen has a similar issue.
The argument is not about the planet alone and yes, it is better than petrol or diesel by a very long way.
As you are on Orkney why not get in touch with Jonathan Porterfield through Reflex Orkney and learn more about EV's and your questions.
We have an ID.3 1st Edition and will be visiting Orkney in June. Over winter we get about 170 to 180 miles range and in the summer we get upto 308 miles.
I am looking forward to driving around Orkney to try and figure out how come you seem to be so terrible at driving your car.

Enjoy Orkney! Hopefully the weather is better and you get plenty of range 😎
