Interesting, I was just looking at some of these on eBay, thinking I might get one for fun. I own a G6 and love it still, It's treated me well. I owned a G3 before that but passed by the G5 because of the "Fringing" or rather "Chromatic Aberration" issue all the reviews talked about. I still might get one just because its such a nice looking camera. Thanks Pete glad you're up and going again.
Thanks Pete - I found your channel when searching for the Fujifilm S9600. I have a G5, 6 and a PowerShot Pro1 and don't know much about them. I will watch your videos and hopefully take better shots that just the full-auto idiot mode.
Hmm, such a sudden video, Mr Elgar! At tomorrow I'm planning to get the similar G5 :) Fun fact: the battery on this Canon is the same one which fits into the older Gs and *0d DSLRs right up to EOS 50d! The prints you sharing here inspire a lot!
If you have the accessory lenses I think you have to tell the camera in the menu which lens you are mounting. Also the optical viewfinder is not going to show you 100% of what will be captured.
i have one of that G5,but the preview screen is a little bit used up,but its in good cóndition,my concern is,i hàvent tried taking videos and i wonder how bad or good the resolution is.
I got this camera on ebay, but it didn’t come with a charger. I bought a battery charger and it didn’t work. What would be the correct charging cable??
Hello ! How do you get the pictures out of the camera ? I connected the canera with the cable to my computer through the "digital" hole on the side but don't see my camera appear ...
I find cameras in my Software as a 'REMOVABLE DISK' it does not give the Camera Name. I use FastStone Image Viewer or PhotoShop 7 -- you have to scroll down all the things on the LEFT to find it.
I have NO Idea how to get to your PHONE but to get to COMPUTER you need to take out the CF memory Card and put it into a 'Card Reader' slot for CF cards then watch computer and a box comes up with Canon and you can see the files to download -- I am NO EXPERT !
Really good to see you are still at it Pete 🙂
Right then! You squire have acquired a fine example of early-aughts CCD camera technology. Go forth and capture something amazing!
YES I have got a set of good photos which you can see HERE in my FLICKR Album :

wonderful review
I love that you print your images! I do the same
I had this and swapped it for a Olympus C 5050z. Much better build, ergonomics, and colours. It runs on AA batteries too!
Just found your channel.. great👍

Love it. I still use my 600d but I'm out of practice. This looks like a fun little bit of kit. You can't beat freebies
I got one and the g2, g3, and g6. I love the g2 more
Excellent work!

You're so sweet thank you for the video 🙏
How is the LCD brightness adjusted? Mine is very low and cannot see the display unless if I look for a torch. How do we increase it?
I think it is in the MENUE somewhere about LCD brightness
@@theoldfilmbloke The menu has LCD brightness but there is nothing to adjust the brightness level.
I will have to ask a Digital 'Expert' at my Camera Club but the Club is CLOSED until September so will have to phone some-one@@kmmediapro
@@theoldfilmbloke Ok. I will wait to hear from you. Thank you so much for your help.
Look in the SET UP MENU -- second one down is LCD Brightness and there IS a setting for NORMAL or BRIGHTER !

Compact? The Canon S-Series cameras have the same sensor and are half the size.
I have this camera and want to sell in 30$
Maybe someone from your Local Camera Club would be interested ?
i dont think they love with this old camera@@theoldfilmbloke
@@motiongraphicstudenthi , brother I'm interested to buy .
5 mega pickles for the digital fakers!
all I want to learn now is how to put a Lion in on a scene where there was not one -- perhaps 'Stalking some Welsh Sheep' -----
@@theoldfilmbloke Stay focused for your snaps.
Snapping with Hasselblad 503 CX. with 50mm f5.4 Nice bit of kit. No digital fakers allowed.
