  • Firstly, apologies at the length of this video, I went out with all intentions of being concise, succinct and to the point and I realised that it's harder than I thought to ride a bike, follow the rules of the road AND try to narrate along at the same time but I will try harder next time. I was also trying to record helmet audio for the first ever so I spent too much time messing around and should really have recorded in smaller blocks to edit a shorter video.

      Thanks mate appreciate the feedback! I absolutely loved the Picos, got back 2 weeks ago, what a place! I now have 9 hours of helmet footage to try to edit down to something watchable 🤣

    Love your vids, thanks! I’m just coming up on my first service for the same bike you have. When I got it, I thought the seat was a little firm. As the miles came on it definitely softened and I’m very happy with it. By the way, computers do the buffering, windshields do the buffeting.

    I rode the 1300GS twice and found the seat and Rider Triangle to make for a very, very uncomfortable ride and the power not that much more than my 1250GS. I'm keeping my 1250GS!

    Great video - appreciate the insight, as I'll be getting my GS in a few months (week 34 build). I think I saw the same review video, of the Gilles shift lever. If I hadn't purchased the 719 Option version, I'm pretty sure I'd be buying the Gilles - it looks like a nice bit of kit. Apparently, the shift lever on the 719 actually is made by Gilles.

    I have a Triple Black exactly the same spec as yours except mine has cast wheels. I have also done over 6000 miles. I agree with most of your comments although I have not owned a BMW before and so have no comparison to make with a 1250. I came from a Multistrada V4S and don’t regret the change. Your tyres mystify me though. My bike came with the Anakee’s which I hated because of road noise so I swapped them for the Metzeler Tourance Next 2’s which have now done 5000 miles. The rear only has 2.5 mm left and is squared off terribly. Perhaps the OEM version is harder than the aftermarket? I find the quickshift gear changing to be as good as the Multistrada going up and better going down. Enjoy the Picos, Li went there in April and the roads and scenery are fantastic

      @TheStammeringBiker  Месяц назад +1

      Thanks Scratcher! Yeah the tyres are a mystery to me too, there’s at least 5mm on the rear left and 3mm on the front. I did Brindisi in Italy to Manchester all motorway at 70ish MPH speeds and I expected them to be totally square and to my surprise they weren’t! I’ve always thought OEM tyres are harder than the off the shelf variants, I can’t prove it but I’m fairly sure. I don’t think I’ve ever had a rear tyre last beyond about 4000miles in my 20 years of riding 😳

    Very practical review mate,
    Can you share your thoughts on chigee system

    • @TheStammeringBiker
      @TheStammeringBiker  Месяц назад

      Thanks mate! Having not tested any of the Chigee units it’s hard to say, I’d love to get my hands on the Play version specifically for BMW. I suspect the Chigee is probably more robust in terms of getting updates as the Carpuride I have to update it they have to send you a link to a file and it’s a bit of a faff so I think in that regard the Chigee would be more of a long term solution. If I can afford it at some point I’m tempted to buy one!

      The ones on the side of the “beak”? Pretty sure they are stuck on which I found odd as on previous BMW’s I’m sure the stickers were lacquered over

    Is there not a Dynamic Pro riding mode on this bike? Dynamic but with the softer Road mode dialled in.

    • @TheStammeringBiker
      @TheStammeringBiker  Месяц назад +1

      Yeah I have Dynamic Pro enabled on it, I should have mentioned that in the video. I have it set so that in Dynamic mode it sets the suspension to Road with -2 on the damping which makes it a little softer but still not as "plush" as the 1250 was. Don't get me wrong it's not awful and I love riding it in Dynamic Pro mode but if the roads aren't perfectly smooth I find Dynamic for the suspension to be a little too "crashy" most of the time. Didn't experience this as much on either of the 1250's. If you meant how eager it is to lift the front I haven't altered the setting for throttle response in the settings as I tend to just either have it in Road or Dynamic Pro depending on the riding, it'll lift the front in 3rd even in Road mode at times.
