I have found the perfect pair of real straight slim jeans in M&S in the UK, just under £50, they're their Autograph straight jeans with Lyocell in Ocean blue. What I love about them is that they are perfectly straight and don't taper or flare in any way, a true Parisian style cigarette jean and so elongating if you're petite like me. They come in different lengths and many sizes so no need to get them altered! I bought 2 different lengths for heels and flats and I know they'll be in my wardrobe forever.
Apart from the chambray shirt (which is not a good colour for me), am pretty much on board with these trends. I have a navy cropped trench which looks great on my 5'1" frame, having abandoned the classic trench some time ago. I've always loved socks, have a beautiful collection which I've enjoyed wearing over time, keeping them hidden under a pant leg or bootie, only to be revealed when I sit down and cross my legs! Love the smiles I get when others notice the statement socks, however wearing them with sandals at 73 just looks forgetful!!
I love the idea of adding a silk blouse to a basic wardrobe. It really goes with everything and can dressed up or down. A denim jacket and chambray shirt are definite staples for me. Thanks for sharing Jamie!

A great place to find a denim jacket is at a thrift store or a second hand store. There's so many of them to choose from you can usually find one who style has come around again. It's a good way to save a little money
I’m 68, and I’m surprised and pleased at how many of these items I already have. I won’t be doing the leather or metallic or moto-jacket styles though. But the chambray shirt, denim jacket, wide leg and slim jeans, and the frilly socks are just some of the items I’ve had since autumn. TY. I appreciate your videos.

I’m much more a silk shirt wearer than denim or chambray one. I just hate wearing denim, it’s so uncomfortable. I’ve bought many denim jackets over the last 25 years, following the advice of others that it’s a “must-have basic”. Then I never wore any of them even once, well, not since the 90s, when I wore them over sundresses. I have a couple of pairs of 501s, but always hope I won’t have to wear them. Occasionally I do have to, for more rugged activities.

I have to admit, when I saw the first cropped trench you showed it looked ridiculous to me, like the rest of the coat was missing - I know "they" say your eye has to get used to new looks 😁. I've never found a button-up white blouse that works for me for some reason - and I wouldn't be able to keep it clean anyway, but who knows? Maybe this year? Now, a chambray shirt - that's useful!

My problem is that I'm small across the back, and I have narrow shoulders, so a Small would fit me well, if not for the fact that I'm busty, so I'm not sure whether to get the Small or the Medium. I never follow trends; my style is unpredictable-chunky sneakers one year, none the next, button-down shirts in and out. It's about personal flair, not trends.
Slim straight and straight leg jeans have been my staple for years, as I am fairly short and have large feet, I have always found that skinny jeans look really weird on me. I have totally skipped the skinny jeans over the last 12 years. I also wear bootcut and wider leg jeans, but slim straights and straights are my favourites.
I wear silver metallic socks (or sheer plain black ones) with 70s style chic black suede block heel platform shoes, I bought the shoes from Marks & Spencer's in the UK, great qualify and around £55 but only buy if you can wear high heels, if not try a similar style shoe in a lower platform heel, and also the sandal open toed version for spring/summer, which looks more 40s style
dark wash straight jeans (slim or looser) with a big turn-up (not a roll-up) are a trend I'd like to try as you can simply adapt an existing pair of jeans, you actually have them in this video in the chambray shirt section. The roll-up is different and associated with boyfriend style loose jeans. I think the jeans with a big turned up hem are called hillbilly style, I saw a very cool off-duty model in London, 70 years young, wearing hillbilly jeans (slim dark wash straight) with heels and a fitted navy top and she looked amazing
