Daveed is a pretty well known underground rapper. So I doubt he was that desperate. Lin actually chose Daveed to audition. Daveed wasnt even thinking of doing theatre. He was probably nervous but he was actually chosen by lin to play the part.

8:59 I'm surprised she says of acting roles that "you get what you're supposed to have." Not exactly the message of the times with marginalised groups across the entertainment industries (and far beyond) pushing for fair representation. And unfortunately being "prayerful" isn't going to change anything, except provide comfort that every lost role was divine will.

Peggy actually died 8 months before Phillip, but she was still mourning for her, which is why she was wearing black.

I always interpreted Eliza’s gasp as her realizing her story had been told. I see it this way because Eliza outlived everyone she ever loved, telling their stories but having no one to tell her’s.

In "Dear Theodosia" I'm ALWAYS thinking about their fates. Philip dies in a duel with a devil, and Theodosia gets lost at sea. Both of their fathers outlived them. That may just be my depression taking over my train of thought, but ever since I saw the death of Philip and read about Theodosia, I've never been able to hear that song the same way.

Noo I think it's just like reality. Lots of super famous talented people audition for things but don't get every role still! Renee does still get lots of roles she's been on altered carbon and her career is probably taking off right now!!
leafire3 yeah maybe, but the truth is black actors on Broadway in general just don’t get as much roles as white actors. Of course, I’m not saying white actors don’t deserve their jobs, or that they aren’t as talented, but if you look at the statistics, it’s really heartbreaking how black actors and people of color in general just don’t get as many opportunities as their white peers
so when Anthony & Jasmine do all these cast interviews, do they just sit in different rooms in their house LOL

@@MrsMusicAddict Madison was constantly sick with multiple illnesses and it played a big part in how people viewed him and his character irl which is why he was characterized similarly in the show as a soft-spoken man with a really bad cough

The question about crying during the play (16:13) - I love that When Madison comes on stage after “it’s quiet uptown” he’s crying. The way he says “Please!” When Jefferson asks “Can we get back to politics?” Always makes me smile while I’m ugly crying.

I am 68 years old (almost 69) and I have watch Hamilton now probably 25 times and also bought the CD and play it constantly. I think I'm one of the oldest senior citizens who can sing a good portion of Hamilton. I LOVE it.
It is SO obvious these guys are a family. I know it's a stage/screen cliché, but it's so obvious. Watching them just talking with each other makes me smile. Hamilton is an amazing musical, but the OG cast made it the groundbreaking show it was, and really set a bar with their acting, singing and chemistry on stage.
Also, as an actor just starting out, it's REALLY nice to know these guys are just as unprofessional as me in terms of corpsing, the stuff they do offstage etc...
I literally love how they’re all just theatre kids, but in adult bodies. They’re so quirky and cool. 😂
Edit: Just to clear some stuff up. This was not an insult guys. I myself am a theatre kid and was just comparing them to how some of many theatre kids act. Very sorry if this came off as if I were insulting them or making fun of them.
Aww man. It’s not really easy to shake for some. Once you’ve been a theatre kid (at any age) it kinda pulls at your heart. I love how much they embrace it too!

I met Daveed Diggs in 2015 after seeing Hamilton and he was sooo nice. Its such a long and intense performance and I’m sure he was so exhausted but he still took the time to sign everyone’s playbill and took pictures with everyone who wanted one. It was cold, it was late, and he was tired but he didn’t show it and I will ALWAYS appreciate his kind attitude ❤️❤️

I think the most powerful thing about Hamilton is the fact that before this show was first preformed, nobody knew how important all the characters where until Lin told the world in such a powerful way. Using awesome songs, and amazing acting.

I loved getting a substitute in science because we just watched bill bye on our topic/unit and the sub either didn’t care or didn’t know because some of us also had snacks even though our safety contract says no food in science.
As an actual teacher- yup that's all I expect of my subs. If they actually teach, I'm shocked. Oftentimes I hope they don't try to teach because they never do it right! Through no fault of their own, but nobody knows how to teach everything without specific instruction
Lol my husband, as a guitar teacher, had a good laugh at that. My brother in law sub's a lot and would probably concur lol.
Renee looks so glowing and amazing in this. She is also just a sweet personality. Crazy to hear about the fact that she still auditions so many times! Can't imagine how time consuming and hard that could be. I'm sure her resilience contributes to her success 😮

I like how Lin mentions slavery here. A lot of people say that we shouldn't support Hamilton because he owned slaves or something like that, but it's mentioned and Lin made sure it was known. It fills my heart to know that no one is turning a blind eye to history.
Not trying to prove you wrong or anything, just wanting to share a bit of what I've recently learned which no one will listen to since I have no hamilfan friends... :) A. Hamilton himself didn't actually own any slaves and he supported the abolitionist movement. Still, in the time that he practiced law, there were cases where slaves had to be moved between owners, etc. that he was involved in. Also, his mother did own 2 slaves which he did not inherit due to his being conceived out of wedlock. Hope you found this interesting! I'm a huge nerd lol 😅😂
Cindy F he actually became abolishionist later in life. He traded slaves for other people even though he didn’t technically own any himself
Cindy F he bought and gave slaves to his in-laws and almost inherited slaves when his mother passed, but since he was illegitimate he wasn’t allowed to have them. It was only until later in his life did he start advocating for the freedom of slaves.
A lot of the real people played in the musical here were white slave owners/traders (most, in fact), but they did their best to tone down the racism but still acknowledge it, which I think was really powerful. I'm just glad they didn't ignore it or pretend it didn't happen.

Omg leslie's answer to dear theodosia... I cried it was so sweet and heartfelt. It's so meaningful I never realized actors/actresses could be so deep and actually pray for a child of theirs yet to come. 💖 That answer was the best of all I think. Dear theodosia is such a special song, and hearing leslie's answer has made it even better
