- A tribute to the life & career of actor Ralph Meeker.
A talented actor of stage & screen,Meeker was also an accomplished musician (piano, cornet, drums, accordion & a graduate of Northwestern Univeristy as a music major)
Beginning his career on stage,Meeker replaced Brando in the role of Stanley Kowalski in ''A Street Car Named Desire'' in 1947,with some crirics proclaiming his performance as more in keeping with Tennessee Williams vision of Stanley. He then won the New York Critics Circle Award for his performance in ''Picnic'' in 1953.
Best known today for his defining role of Mike Hammer in the classic film ''Kiss Me Deadly'' (1955),his other memorable roles included that of the doomed soldier in Kubricks ''Paths of Glory'' (1957),the menacing stranger in 'Jeopardy'' (1953) and he was directed by Hitchcock in the first episode of the TV series ''Alfred Hitchcock Present'' which aired October 1955.
I hope you enjoy this tribute to Ralph Meeker featuring clips from his films & publicity stills from both stage & screen performances. - Развлечения

ls it just me or is there an uncanny resemblance with Ralph Meeker and Vic Morrow? Not just looks but the voices are uncannily similar. Just caught the very first episode of Alfred Hitchcock presents, from 1955, and there was Ralph Meeker, with Vera Miles. How did Ralph keep it together with Vera Miles in that bathing suit ? Whoa. Seriously, he had a real presence on screen, he should have been a more highly acclaimed actor.

an absolute heartthrob!
What a gorgeous man!
Stunning man and very talented actor!
Great actor. He certainly possessed an undeniable charisma.
I love his voice. One of my favorite actors.
TCM's Robert Osborne said Meeker refused to sign a studio contract in the 50s and was never offered a leading-man part again. He certainly is a handsome and manly man. He has a unique style and voice, which I love. Someone on FB said she knew him briefly and that he was quite a guy. Wish she'd say why....I ordered a two-DVD set of seven of his movies on EBay and five from Amazon. Thanks for this Tribute; he deserves a wider audience.
There must be plenty of straight males who found the way he carried himself in a few films admirable and thus something to emulate. His facial expressions were kind and knowing which suggests he had probed his core deeply and found some acceptance of the way the entertainment industry operates. To be cognizant of his highly compromised end days is pretty grievous.
Thank you so much for this. Ralph was great & underappreciated.
He was one fine looking man alright !
I watched him in "Something Wild" a couple of nights ago. Always liked him style and I always found him attractive, too. Lovely tribute.
Great actor!
Came here from WTF podcast with de caprio saying that he surveyed this mans career and embodied him as Rick Dalton in Once upon a time in Hollywood .. having watched this compilation I can see that right away, such charisma, class and presence Ralph had. It's amazing he wasn't a much bigger name. I must go watch Kiss me Deadly now soon! Thank you.
Ralph Meeker was one of those actors who had all the talent and good looks to become more of a big movie star than he was. Strange how the cards are dealt with these people!
He never got the movie "click" role.
That’s exactly what Tarantino just said on a new interview
absolutely killed it in Kiss Me Deadly, that masterpiece
Yesterday was his birthday! November 21st. TCM aired a few of his films on Thursday morning. Happy Birthday Ralph!!
l first met Ralph Meeker in upper manhattan in the middle 1960's, he was very tall, had a great look about him and was very friendly……alcohol and smoking certainly shortened his life…..l thought he was a great talent that wasn't appreciated, however he did act along side the most famous………l was a fan of his and he passed before his time……..
I'd like to invite you to my facebook page dedicated to Mr. Meeker. Any stories you have about him and would like to share would be most appreciated. facebook.com/Ralph-Meeker-Appreciation-Society-1476881802598540/

One of my all time favorites...Oscar worthy in Paths of Glory . . .
Enjoyed "Kiss Me Deadly" and this tribute. Can't help comparing Ralph with the late Paul Walker. Would liked to have seen Ralph in more Mickey Spillane Mike Hammer roles. These comments are good too. Ralph did deserve more recognition.
Reminds me of the late Paul Walker.
John : yes He Did DESERVE Way more RECOGNITION. I Just Loved Him In EVERYTHING HE WAS IN.
HE IS IRREPLACEABLE !!! RIP SIR AND THANK YOU FOR CHOOSING THE PATH OF ACTING.
THEY DON'T MAKE ACTORS LIKE THAT ANYMORE. 🤠🖖
Thank you so much for this moving tribute. You did such an amazing job splicing in some of his best scenes and had the sensitivity to show him at his most handsome. I especially appreciated seeing clips from The Shadow In The Sky which is not available on DVD. The music is perfect as well. I'm a huge fan and I bookmarked this to watch over and over.
Thank you kindly. I'm glad that you and so many others enjoyed this tribute .It's the least he deserves.
Yes well said . I Also bookmarked this.
It Is Done With Such Taste And Respect . 🤠🖖
Great actor
He had it all, talent, looks, sex appeal. Ralph meeker makes actors today look like boys.

Quentin brought me here,,

Yes .. Such A Wonderful Actor, and Not Seen Enough !! A BEAUTIFUL MAN!! There's A Movie (can't remember the name ) where he gets in A Fight in a lil Shack.. His STRENGTH IS OBVIOUS IN THIS FIGHT SCENE.
HIS BACK LOOKED LIKE A COBRA .

To me, Gary Sinise & Ralph Meeker have similiar features & stylez. I fell in love ❤ w/R. Meeker when I was just a kid; he starred in a crazy movie, Something Wild. G. Sinise is a hearthrob & loved him in: Of Mice & Men. ❤
I see a couple of things with Barbara Stanwyck (it was reported they "dated")....that was an unforgettable scene of him "taking" barbara in "Jeopardy".
He would have had the lead in "Picnic" versus Kim Novak. Can you imagine the chemistry there would have been? William Holden said he was embarassed playing the role because he was too old. Good acting job, but he was much, much too old for the part. A lot of "rebel" actors refused to sign contracts and they ended up being punished by the Hollywood Machine. Meeker did have a prestigious theatre career, however. And he was on stage doing what he loved most, until he had heart problems that lead to his death. - Notice how he looks different in every role? A chameleon.
Gail : Yes ... Great Comment !! 🤠🖖
TCM's Robert Osborne, in introducing "Kiss Me Deadly," said Meeker refused to sign on with studios and was never offered a leading man role again. Thwarted ambition might have been the reason for his affinity for alcohol. Lots of big-name actors were heavy drinkers in those days. It's just so wonderful to see him on the screen, so handsome and manly. I like the sound of his voice, too. Someone on FB said she knew him briefly and that he was quite a guy. Wish she'd say how....
@linscat..you notice that as well...most of the actors of that era looked like real men over the boys seen in today's movies. How true, how true for Ralph..although, he could be my grandfather (but in his films he certainly didn't look like grandpa!)
lol.. He Would Of Made A Beautiful Grandpa !! HE IS IRREPLACEABLE. 🤠🖖
TCM's Robert Osborne said Meeker refused to sign a studio contract in the 50s and was never offered a leading man role again. He certainly is a handsome and manly man. I love the sound of his voice. Someone on FB said she knew him briefly and that he was quite a guy. Wish she'd say why...
@ TheScreamingMimis: Terrific video. Sincerely appreciated. You give viewers glimpses of the incredible range and versatility of Ralph Meeker. His artistic excellence distinguishes him.
There's some resemblance to the earlier Chester Morris in the smiles. Both had a whimsical stoicism.
Tarantino loves this actor,
so I came to check him out.
Ralph Meeker was extremely handsome 😎
I never heard about him until today after watching What's My Line with Sean Connery and Meeker on panel.
Someone commented Connery emulated Meeker, so will have to educate meself.
I can see from these clips he had presence. The scene on speedboat parallels Fleming's On Her Majesty's Secret Service..and Meeker looks very Blondish.
@TheScreaming Mimis thanks for this ! What a handsome man ! Great music ! What is it ?
@miltsar He certainly was!.The song is ''Viva La Vida'' originally sung by Coldplay, but this is the instrumental version by Stingray Music.
YEAH... THATS ONE GREAT INSTRUMENTAL PIECE. GREAT CHOICE!! MADE ME TEARY. 🤠🖖
Excellent, Mr. Meeker would have been a good James Bond too.
WOW !! GREAT POINT!! YOUR RIGHT !!! 🤠🖖
Better than Paul Newman, by far!
Check him out in the first episode of Alfred Hitchcock Presents, called "Revenge". Amazing all around and the ending is a stunner.
A dependable standout talent from acting's old school. His best role, in my opinion, was as George Clarence 'Bugs' Moran in The St. Valentine's Day Massacre (1967).
I agree!
@Ad Hc I'll be watching that movie next week. First time I saw it was with my parents at a drive-in in the summer of 1967.
Dicaprio sent me here.
didn't he play Mike Hammer in a movie?
@Inamatus thank you!,the film is 'Battle Shock' aka 'A Womans Devotion'.
Vic Morrow and Ralf Meeker could have been brothers. They even sound alike along with the same mannerisms.
He was really scary in "Jeopardy". That's Barbara Stanwyck fighting, and then kissing him in that movie. All to save her husband.
Love this! But you forgot the giant rats
Kind of like a Kevin Costner type. Maybe he had his good reasons not to sign that contract. Good talent shines through even without a contract. God bless his memory!
LUV Meeker on Alfred Hitchcock Presents!!
He reminds me soooo much of Vic Morrow. That slanted smirk...cute! ;)
All these clips to show his career...but didn't show him in ...the dirty dozen
MISS You, Ralph Meeker (u_u)!
... until the Next Visit...
THANK YOU, TheScreamingmimis,
~ KIMY
He reminds me of William Shatner
He was too good looking and two nice to be credible as Mike Hammer. His cheery demeanor and fine clothes contradicted the dark themes of Kiss Me Deadly.
I know. I don't think I saw scenes from "I Walk The Line' either, with Gregory Peck and Tuesday Weld.. He played a moonshiner.. They were all good in that flick..
Nicholson before Nicholson.
I couldn't bring myself to even watch the giant rat movie! lol.Best to remember Ralph in his prime....
Oh NO !! BUT YOU MUST !! IT'S GOOD... IN A BAD WAY !!
THERE'S JUST MOVIES THAT ARE SO BAD THEIR GOOD !! THIS IS IN THAT CATEGORY!! IT'S A MUST SEE . 🤠🖖
He would've made a great Travis McGee.
His career as Charlton Heston was more successful...
