    I remember deploying to Iraq in 2009 with one of those Eee Pc's and funny enough I used it for playing retro games and browsing the web and it help up just fine for that. One advantage of the low performance ironically was the battery life was actually surprisingly pretty damn good lol.

    Good to see these laptops brought back to life! I knew about netbooks and that the Eee PC wouldn't run very well, and I know you've done a video before on the Dell (where you took 2 broken Dell's and made 1 working one). Surprised you went with Windows 7 on the Asus Eee, I thought XP would have ran better but 7 is more usable.
    Just proves that you don't need the latest and greatest to get the job done if you just need the basics.

      Me too. It has an Intel i5 2450m and 6GB of RAM. I want to upgrade to a SSD but one screw that keeps the HDD in place is stripped 😢. It came with Windows 7 and I have installed Linux, particularly Ubuntu, as a more lightweight, modern and still supported operating system.

      @@ComputersAndTechAndAndrew Hi, nice video as always
      Have you tried the backing soda and superglue trick to try and repair cracked plastic ??
      I love keeping PC's as long as possible and my collection is from Pentium 100 to Ryzen 5
      I prefer to use the OEM software, but some times i just use linux mint if i want it as a spare youtube machine
      The only issue, while i have a ryzen 5 for gaming, my daily driver is a Lenovo core2duo i purchased new - ( 12GB ram G3220cpu ) most times from a cold reboot, it will spend 2 to 10 mins with the hdd maxed out with defender or windows updates or updating indexing - it is very annoying and hdd will be pegged at 100% - there is nothing wrong with the machine or the OS, i believe it is just this machine or a dual core seems to devote a lot of resources to trivial things ( haha when you only have 2 cores they get used up fast )
      But in normal usage cpu idles at 2 to 5 % and 4 browser tabs on youtube = 15% cpu usage so it is fine.
      My Pentium 1 dos & win 3.11 , P200 dos and win 98, Pentium M and Pentium C all dual boot dos 6.22 and XP.
      My Jack of all trades is a toshiba Satelite with usb and com port so it is used as a "translation machine" like the P200 but they all have network cards anyway
      Years ago ( y2k era ) i inherited thrown away 386/486 / Pentium 1's and they were turned into Mame machines and handed out as freebees
      Regards
      George

      @georgemaragos2378 9 месяцев назад

      @@StratosGamesOFFICIAL Hi, for core2duo and first run I3/5/7 - i just go straight to Linux mint if i want to use it as a daily driver.

    • @StratosGamesOFFICIAL

    You think you can repair hardrives??

    • @ComputersAndTechAndAndrew
      @ComputersAndTechAndAndrew  9 месяцев назад

      No, hdd cannot be repaired if it's too damaged. I worked data recovery once and hdd can be kind of "repaired". If the bottom electronic is dead than can be change just to pull the data off or if the reading needle together with electronics is dead than the disk with data from the inside is moved to another ( all must be the same as the old one ) and the data is pulled, or there are other devices that can do that. All of this is just to pull up the data and then put to a new disk. But I'm not skilled enough to repair some hdd I mean classic repair

    • @jaylils
      @jaylils 9 месяцев назад

      @@ComputersAndTechAndAndrew yeah, I learned about the bottom electronic. I thought I was clever by switching another bottom component from the same hardrive. But the firmware was not the same. Haha

      Installing windows 10 or 11 is possible to some older computers, the 10 is more compatible than 11. The Windows is available to download from Microsoft website for free using media creation tool. Installing windows 10 or 11 on some computers may request some changes in BIOS menu, mostly under a disk, like IDE to AHCI or something similar, but in many cases you don't need any changes

      Hi bro, check the BIOS menu, some laptops have option to turn off or turn on some features in pre-boot menu. Also you can try to reinstall the Windows, just to be sure is the problem coming from the windows or not. But maybe is some small hardware problem, like with BIOS or something small

    God job again 👍 i know Windows is most used Os but is not the best. I think in old machines a linux distribution woulf expand the capabilities. Recrntly i have tested Loc Os and the result is amazing. The point is that some people use a computer exclusively for work and not for gaming.

      The Linux is great for these laptops, but I used windows because of older games, but for other things the linux is better
