- Four-year-old Aniya Day-Garrett died a slow death as her body withered away, according to testimony from Cuyahoga County Deputy Medical Examiner Joseph Felo on the fourth day her mother’s murder trial.

The autopsy doctor said she had a stroke. The mother said her daughter stopped walking (and they abused her even more saying she was looking for attention). You have a stroke you definitely can lose your ability to walk and function. What sick people!

The mother said in her interrogation that Aniya stopped walking. It was most likely because of the stroke. Instead of taking her to the doctor, she continuously beat her because she thought she was faking. Aniya was getting beat long before the boyfriend came around but he was complicit because he did nothing to help. They left her home alone w/o food bcuz she couldn't walk or talk bcuz of the stroke. This baby laid in urine and had bed sores. May this mother get karma all the days of her life for hurting this innocent beautiful girl. I’m 40 with no kids and here she is beating the blessing she was giving. I’m so sorry Aniya that everyone failed you. 💔😢😇🙏🏽
Why didn't her FATHER, FAMILY members, DAYCARE WORKERS, POLICE & CPS stop all of this ABUSE??????????

This man is such an amazing person. He speaks so well for that child. He gives her a voice when no one else did.. He speaks words that everyone understands. Such an intelligent and caring man.
Sometimes he shows a bit of emotion, look at his eyes. He needs to be professional and not take side in public court. He is a witness and shall not take side. The way he explained the autopsy is somehow a thing he does on every day basis. He’s really a good witness.
IMO even for him, this might be one of the worst he has ever seen in his career.

I've had pancreatitis before. It's INCREDIBLY painful. And that poor baby was also suffering from starvation, strokes, ulcers, blisters, bruises... She must have been in agony 😢😢
I have Chronic Pancreatitis and it is worse than childbirth! I can't help but cry for this baby. Her pain had to be unimaginable.💔🙏
You know I honestly believe God took the pain from her, while all the abuse was happening. I say that because she most definitely would have been in pain. And for some one her age she wouldn’t be able to hold not one cry in. Better yet screams. It would have been loud enough for anyone living next to them to hear while she went through all of that. So God definitely held all of her pain. That baby is finally at peace.

@Jevonte Hodge Nope, in most of EU you will find no government funded education as a Osteopat, it's in the same category as other alternative medicine. it's more like oh your are going to the wowo doctor :-) It's called a regulated profession, they are not authorised by the government. and education is private, and you pay directly, no social security, as it's not evidence based here. It's a 4 year part time study (after work) and you dont have to be a MD beforehand. there is a big difference to the US, where it looks like you have to take the MD as part of it.

Aniya’s old daycare reported almost 23 cases. The mother removed her immediately after a major one.
Day (Aniya’s mother)’s sisters and brother did constantly report and even Day’s Baby daddy who was trying to get custody.
The SYSTEM and Deonte who was supposed to be like a father figure in the home failed that baby. Till today, I’m still upset about this case

I’m a 35 year old woman. About a year ago I had a TINY unprovoked Subarachnoid hemorrhage. Also referred to as a “hemorrhagic stroke”. The pain was unbelievable. It took my break away and I’ve genuinely been traumatized ever since. My heart shatters for this baby. I cannot imagine how she must of felt. Terrified, in pain, confused, and unable to comprehend what was going on. These people are monsters.

I am so glad that the mother has to hear those details from the Medical Examiner. My mind is still blown that a mother would treat her child or someone else to treat her child so cruelly. I am glad that baby is with Jesus.
My impression of the mother would be none of this is making any difference to her, there's something missing in her, she has a lack of compassion, concern, as if her daughter was nothing more than a book or a rock- an inanimate object.
It's obvious by her blaming all the abusive damage to her daughter onto her partner, her live-in boyfriend of 6 months - that she also had no true feelings for him -

My ex sister in law is a cps worker and she hates me just cause her brother(my daughters dad) didn’t want to be in her life I decided to move on with my life with my daughter and she was trying to get visitations it’s her niece she called her friends to come to my house and the night before I had left a pile of clothes on the bed my toilet had been clogged for a month but I had been waiting for management to fix it and they took my daughter away over those things. It took me 6months to get her back and she lost the case against me but damn it was hard to fight for my daughter

I could only imagine how some cases coroners/medical examiners work on they will never forget and are greatly affected especially children. This doctor is a good educator and easy to understand. You might also like listening to Dr. Darisaw (the pathologist on the Laila Daniel case). She was extremely educational and effective too.

The judge literally looks like he is about to come out of his skin and vomit. He looks like he cannot wait to sentence this woman, as he should. I cannot imagine a person who dedicated their life to serving justice waiting through photos like this. This examination is absolutely incredible, the best, warmest, most caring I have seen. He seems like a father who wants everyone to know exactly what happened to this baby to the fullest, clearest, most understandable extent of his capabilities. I wish everyone had such care for their abused children cases.

The judge gave his sentence but both of those devils will receive another sentence that will last for eternity.
I watched this man’s interrogation, in which he claimed the poor baby was “perfectly fine” and all she needed was a lot of rest. Which made listening to this testimony essential. No way could a child be that sick and emaciated and you never “noticed” ANYTHING wrong. Ludicrous. No one could be that blind. Both of them deserve whatever sentences they got.
Deonte had a chance to save that baby but he ignored her and let his selfish reasons play a part… he should’ve called the cops on Sierra AND told Aniya’s father like “look your baby mama in here abusing y’all daughter” all he cared about was him smh … and Sierra should’ve just given that baby to her father smh… like this didn’t have to happen.. and they both got life

He is definitely on the top of his field that's for sure. The only thing that is kind of creepy to me is how long his finger nails are. He also keeps them nicely groomed.

People who work in the coroner's office or medical examiners office must need counseling doing this kind of work. The babies and children would put me over the edge. I appreciate what they do, because it gives the dead the last chance to "speak" on what happened to them. Mercy God.

I watched the retired criminal profiler/medical examiner's interview on a Korean show called radio stars once. He said he was losing teeth and hair from stress and has nightmares every night and feared that his family will be hurt by those criminals. He had to face them during trials of murders and many times they threatened him that they will hurt his family when they get out of jail. He retired because he thought he would eventually lose his life because of all the pressure.

Pancreatitis in itself is extremely painful. That poor baby suffered terribly bad. Her lungs made her entire body hurt, too. This baby suffered. This is pure evil

MEs are more than doctors. They are translators. They translate for murder victims so they can tell us what they are saying with the bodies they left behind. Each body is like a book that only the ME can read. Everyday they go through the horrors most of us can't face so they can be the voice for those that can't speak for themselves. This man did a beautiful job speaking for this beautiful baby. He truly honored her and made sure the world knows every detail she needed us to hear. He was there 100% for lil Aniya and no one else. He was her translator so we could hear her.

I had pancreatitis due to gallstones, and it was the only thing I’ve ever experienced where I passed out from the pain. That poor little girl deserved a MOM, not the momster she got. 😢

I’m just confused on how this flew over child protective services heads. Whoever was on this case needs to be investigated and fired and jailed. They have to start holding these state workers accountable as well. Too many times do you hear cps was involved but the child was still killed by the caregivers 🤦🏾♀️
It happens more often then ppl know. My husband been fighting, and been jailed trying to protect his niece from her mother. CPS go to home, the trifling mother tell her to say she feel or whatever story or she will beat her. The child is scared and listen and CPS leaves. SMH. The system is not set up to protect these children.

My friend had her cancer riddled kidney removed and was on pain meds for three months. People around here call DCS on each other over every petty thing. Her child was taken from her, she had multiple changes in case workers, forced to go to rehab THREE times. She went to court and was told because she was assigned yet another case worker, she had to repeat rehab. Her lawyer said the changes in case workers we're not her fault, she passed all drug tests, her child needs to be brought home and it still took almost two years. Meanwhile, a few counties over, a foster child that had been placed with foster parents already accused of beating one child, was beaten to death. I have no faith in Child Protective Services anymore.

He wasn’t generalizing her as “a 4 y.o. girl,” rather, in his own way, he was conveying a clear message - “hey, people, Aniya was a precious, living, breathing 4 y.o. child.
And who the eff ever heard of a 4 y.o. suffering TWO strokes, never mind one. Makes me want to vomit. Aniya’s sufferings were beyond painful. Hopefully Jailhouse Justice will prevail.

4 grandchildren....took care of 3 of grandchildren 10 hours a day while mom and dad worked, they went on vacations leaving the kids with me...I never ever wanted anyone else to care for them but me, I knew they are safe with me, I have 1 grandchildren the other side of the country, they have a nanny, and my grandson helps with the little one...he is 22 yrs old and lives there with my daughter

The more I listened, the more I squirmed at the pain this toddler was in days, weeks, and months before her death. I saw him glance over at the monsters who did this to her and he was professional and disturbed. I couldn't imagine doing an autopsy like Aniyah's.

This doctor is absolutely amazing at explaining the complex medical words in layman’s terms. I couldn’t stop watching and listening to him.

THE BIGGEST FAILED WAS THE SYSTEM DCFS, BECAUSE THE WAS CHANCE TO TAKE HER AWAY FOR THOSE 2 MONSTER, ON MY UNDERSTANDING AND WHAT I SSE AND READ, WAS A LOT OF NEGLECTED FROM THE EMPLOYEES OD DCFS.

I saw the father made a statement in court. I think she kept her away from him. But not 100% sure. Still wondering how it got so bad an why during this time the father wasnt present. Fighting for visitation, taking police with him to see his daughter, something. Again, I do not have all facts so can't judge the father...
@@jaeda88 the dad was in a custody battle. He reported the problem multiple times and even reported it to the daycare. Her mother eventually hid her from him.

Due to a reaction to medication, I got a bad case of pancreatitis and I know how painful that is. And that was only one of many things this poor little angel went through…. Just to put it into perspective, my almost two year old weighs 32lbs. This poor little 4 year old girl weighed 26lbs when she died. That's incredibly sad.
I know its shocking! My brothers wife just gave birth to a 10lb 12oz baby girl. My own son was 9lb 11 born...How on earth can an almost 5yr old be only 26lb? Its torture, I bet she didn't even cry because children living with abuse & fear dont , they suffer in silence rather than bring their tormentors attention to them. Yep. Think about it, 40 inches tall, just 8 inches short of 4 foot tall, and 26 lbs. I'm pretty sure most 1 year olds are 26 pounds.

I hear so much of restraining orders just being randomly handed out & I wonder don't they have to have evidence w a lot of corroborating incidences to get a restraining order?!?!?! I looked on Google & saw a pic of her in her casket & one w her dad kneeling by it. There was a veil over her & "My Angel" was on the veil. He also has some incredible pictures & drawings of her. Praying for some kind of peace for him & thankfully she is safe ingots arms & can never be hurt again

What a brilliant man, he has explained so eloquently in laymans terms the horrific details of poor little Aniya.
She was still beating the baby even on her death bed, according to the doctor. Some of her injuries were days old. This poor child had all kinds of things eating her up from the inside, yet she still gets beat?! Lord Jesus!
Social Services and everyone that denied any abuse should also be in jail!
I admire this doctor and also the investigator that didn't let her get away with anything.
I have seen many videos like this, where a medical examiner is giving a detailed description of the circumstances of a victim prior to their death. Dr. Felo is, without a doubt, the most articulate professional that I have ever seen, without being difficult for the layman to understand, and without being either too "wordy" or boring. He was such an incredible witness for this child. Though there is no way that this evil woman could even begin pay for her actions inflicted on this young child over the course of her short life, I am hopeful that Dr. Felo's account in this case will ensure that she gets the most solid measure of retribution for whatever pleasure and satisfaction she derived from her brutal actions, and that it is a very long and torturous ordeal befitting such an evil being. (If only those who love Aniyah could be allowed some time alone with "Ms. Day" to convey their thoughts and feelings about what she has done!)

This is why I am such an advocate for good fathers despite what the courts think mothers are not the best option for the children there are bad mothers when that baby first told then her mother was hurting her and that daycare provided them all the proof they should have removed her immediately and places her with her father this didnt have to happen

The Judge was so disturbed by the photos and what the doctor was saying to the point he could not look at the photos anymore. This was very horrific.
She got life without parole so she will die in prison and will have to live life in segregation.I havent heard of this case as I'm from UK I dont understand how the guy got 20 years with chance of parole
