Dry fly fishing on the River Derwent - Mayfly Season

  • A successful dry fly fishing trip to the River Derwent during the Mayfly season produced a wild rainbow trout and a few brown trout. All the fish were fooled using a size 12 Loop wing Danica emerged pattern.

    A fabulous river Ive never managed to cast a fly.( despite bidding hopefully for several years on the Wild Trout trust fundraiser.)
    Exciting to watch
    Here's to a rise to the dry in 2025..whereever..or the hope of it

    Fun bit is working out which of at least four River Derwents this is. Not that difficult, but for the wider audience I think it would be a courtesy to give some indication.

    Brilliant video Andrew as always was the rainbow a native fish I know theres a river up that way thst has wild breeding rainbows in it

    Ahh. Enjoyed that little vid mate, subbed. As a lad we called mayfly time duffers fortnight as it was supposed to be the time to get the known big boys out. Never worked for me but was always fun.
