tom playing ultravisitor from start to finish on the glade stage at glastonbury 2004 was the closest thing to a religeous experience i have ever had. keep being you man.
My good God! He’s an absolute genius. I had the wonderful pleasure of seeing him live in Columbus Ohio many years ago. Saved up my tips and made the drive. Bought “Ultravisitor” at the show.
This is great. As a fan of nearly 20 years this is the first time I've ever seen some of the nuts and bolts of his sound building. Just looking at the routing in his scripts is daunting stuff. It takes not only creativity but a lot of patience, logic and fearlessness. Everything seems to have a rock solid reason for being in a composition. To think he hears all of that info in his head before it gets put down. Really impressive.
also i think there is a huge amount of 'i wonder what THIS will sound like?' to this sort of production so it doesnt have to be all inside someone's head
even his stuff pre-reaktor is truly mind blowing. tracks like decathalon oxide & the exploding psychology were all done with off-the-shelf hardware...it's madness! his newer stuff, post-Hello Everything is all lovely, but the tracks he was making in that 5-year span of 1999-2004 are just unfathomable. completely unfiltered and undeniable genius, not just musically but technically in a league of their own, even still after 20 years!
His comment about how musics is anything you call music, but sometimes things not intended by music citing birdsongs interesting. Frank Zappa said that he defined art by the frame. You get a piece of reality on the wall, put a frame around it, and the stuff inside the frame is the art and the stuff outside the frame isnt. But! Birdsong! Listening to birds singing can be very relaxing. The birds seem to enjoy it. But they probably don't have a concept of "music", its just a thing they like to do and clearly enjoy hearing each other do (Well unless its a scary sort of bird singing I guess a wren might not enjoy an eagles screech).
trop bien une interview de aphex twin trouvé au hasard me mene vers celle de squarepush, les algo sont pas si pt sur yt. Merci Pour le partage Earth Stink
squarepusher still pushin 20 years later, sick genius one of a kind

Damn right ! He had a microphone hanging above the stage and warped the crowd noise back on us into the noise. It was amazing!
That last statement he made is why I'll forever love his music. He seriously is the true definition of music.
he'll be the one they're celebrating in 500 years. a genuine innovator.

@@torsion2 you gotta good point there. always fascinates me about how much comes out exactly as planned vs fortunate accidents.
@@curtisunit I'd wager much more comes by accident than one might think
I should rather say curiosity maybe as @chilledtorsion put it

I have been with Squarepusher from FEED ME WIERD THINGS! ♥
Actually a real life mad scientist with sound. So original and different. My ears love it.
He is WAY ahead of his time, genius truly.
Would like to see him collaborate or at least acknowledge/meet up with Trent Reznor someday perhaps.
25 years later still my god of production
see him every chance I get which I wish was much more. Covid fucked up one of the shows in Detroit I was super bummed. He is like no other.
Seriously…I was so close to seeing him live
Truly a genius, no other way to say it.
I love this guy so much. Real Person

I was at that WHP gig all those years ago, absolutely off my tits, enjoying every moment of Squarepusher's unbelievable performance. WOW!
Sqearepusher is from Essex Chelmsford where I live?!- holly Molly..
So is Guthrie Govan, one of the world's best guitarists, he and Squarepusher played together briefly at school!
@@doubledecker1094 thanks for pointing. I had no idea..
He's a fucking genius, plain and simply.
Unknown to the rest of the pompous music industry, Tom is one of the best bass players in the country, if not the world.

If Music is still Distribution level, still Movement power have like a Bruce Brothers. Live is realtime personal Energy.
Thank you Squarepusher, for being an inspiration to so many, then inspiring someone like me. Thank you. 😁
inspiring is an understatement
I wish I could get my hands on that Reaktor patch.
MacKenzie Theory - similar outlook - mindblowing, courageous.
As a electronic music I very much appreciate this 💜❤️💜 !
Thank you for the upload !!

C'est quoi ce set up, trois S-3000 xl et un S-6000 ?
does he REALLY have a dr-55 sitting in his garden covered with dirt and leaves?
What does the hifi system consist of? Any ideas?
Squarepusher, Aphex Twin and Buckethead on the same stage...can you imagine that? :D
Bruh
he seems like a much nicer guy than richard.
A collab with Frank Zappa would of been awesome.
This guy makes me feel so dumb!
Rik Mayall @ 0.43
@rachelarOh yeah, I saw that, just for that split second.
Squarepusher kinda looks like a thin Rich Evans
Oh fuuuuuuu
What is this about programming a drum machine?
He was referring to PD (Pure Data), Max MSP and Reaktor. :)
