I love their tunes and personalities pretty much equally. Always appreciated how they've managed to find their own unique niches and sound in a common scene.
Apparentely his raw, amateurish mixing style is too much for current industry 'standards' (overcompression, heavy reeverbs, obsession over crispiness with highpass filters). Unfortunately not many labels, even underground ones aim at solid composition (maybe except indie game developer).
One of the most inspired and creative talents in electronic music today. No one sounds like him, and he sounds like no one else. I had the pleasure of meeting Andy briefly after attending one of his gigs. Really down to earth and genuinely nice guy. Big inspiration! Thank you for posting this video.
17th November 1997 was the date of his first show at the 333. The Railway Raver also played and got signed to Replex Records. Cassette Boy played one of their first ever gigs that night too. A real moment of history.

We were honoured with the presence of the full Rephlex roster, including Grant, Cylob, Aphex Twin: who danced during my set for reportedly the first time ever (everyone was doing the Conga at one point too) and Ed Dmx who instantly signed me to his label "BREAKIN RECORDS" and thus the Ceephax story was begun!! I drunk lots of Stella and talked rubbish on the mic and everything ended up totally distorted which still happens nearly 20 years later. Needless to say it was a legendary night for all that came. Dunno why people think he's like that tho. i heard him say in an interview that some times just just goes with what ever sound. and is more about composition and harmony.
Awesome! I'm so jealous of his gear. He's exactly right about having fun with music. So many artists are serious, about their image... it's music, have fun with it.
I once saw cheephax in Antwerp, de location had tree houses, and i think he wear a wookie or monkey suit! One of the best epic party's i remember!! all starts alligned that evening. Nice location, good vibes, funny costumes!
I get the feeling that Andy's the more relaxed one between him and his brother ;D. I do appreciate Tom's music greatly, though, ever since I first heard it in the mid 90:ies. His sometimes serious attitude pays great dividends, though - the results speak for themselves. Both brothers have a lovely way to go about music and creativity.
something about the day in the life of producers and musicians always relaxes me ,especially when theyre not pompous and egotistical jerks but everyday people blessed with a unique talent that brings all ethnicity together
All of these Electric Independence episodes were hugely influential for me as a producer - if anyone has all the episodes , please post them ! Some are still available , but episodes about “Emeralds”, “Black Meteoric Star”, and “Peaking Lights” don’t seem to be available anywhere .
And you are very welcome to do it ) Thing is I uploaded this video on youtube a long time ago - just because I had it on my PC and I could not find it online. I'd be happy to edit description if someone could provide some info on the subject.
"Have some fun. It's fine, don't worry about it." Something that pretty much every creative person needs to be reminded of every once in awhile.
I totally agree. It's all about the love of doing it, Nothing else really matters :D
Words to live by.
Totally

Andy's sense of humour really colours his music. Love his work. His brother is much more serious but equally just as good.
+toffee20
IMHO Andy is better. Squarepusher has some ok tunes but that's it.
I love their tunes and personalities pretty much equally. Always appreciated how they've managed to find their own unique niches and sound in a common scene.
are you nuts, Squarepusher has done some INSANE music and is a world class bass player.
Im sure they would both rather not be compared to eachother, their music is completely different
Oh The Jenkins family
I cannot believe this guy is not more famous. a humble music genius writing history.
Well, his brother is Squarepusher...

Talentless TikTok laptop producers get all the attention. We live in a very superficial world these days.
“Have some fun. It’s fine. Don’t get too stressed”. God do we need more guys like him.
got to love the room filled with what is now tens of thousands of quid worth of equipment with a mattress on the floor in the corner ....

4:07 - love that picture. Tom in the background as hypeman for one of his brother's most important gigs. An amazing sight.

@Tommy Bee imagine thinking Tom Jenkinson is talentless...

@@00_v1 Making Aphex dance for the first time. That's enough to become a legend oneself.
I miss this style of music journalism.
8:24 - For some reason as soon as he said this I pictured his brother.

I love his approach to his music.

I would love to see him talk about his brother & vice-versa or to actually see them together in the same interview.
Or just a Squarepusher/Ceephax collab
Pure beltonium
Of course this guy is related to Squarepusher....
Is squarepusher the older brother?
@@awesomekid8922 yep!
I remember his acid karaoke set at Butlins. Best karaoke experience in the world.

Seems like a nice guy. EDIT: I can't help but smile at that music video at the end.
This is something I cannot describe. I really love it.

Excellent piece thanks for sharing
Not that I want to be a hater, we need more legit music like you in 2019.
I thought I was the only one to describe the 303 as liquid sounding when the resonance is turned up...
Ha! I had on of those Roland jackets in blue, tried to find some the other week.
6:50 he removed the tune knob! This man is a genius. Will do that to mine too
