- Recently took a trip out to Zion National Park and did the Angels Landing Hike. They now have started a lottery system which there are three time slots for each day. They also have NPS personnel along the trail to check for permits. You can still access the trail all the way up to the chain section without a permit and I hear if you continue the trail past the chain section the views are just as good or better. We were lucky enough to get a permit by applying the day before the hike. We also lucked out because it had rained earlier that day and there was a few hour window of no rain in the forecast at our time slot. We got light drizzle but nothing significant. This was in the beginning of November so the crowds were down. I would recommend this hike to everyone, its a great experience. See first hand with this video what the chain section is like. Cheers
just did this last month and the coming down part was way scarier than going up for me. But i loved every second of it
Truly thankful my x & I hiked Angels Landing 30 yes ago! Way less people but still was the scariest hike EVER! Like many we paused at the 1st landing but sooo thankful we got to the top. Always the hike of my life!!!
I bet it was so quiet and peaceful without a bunch of people around. Still a good time but it was probably way different back then
Until my dying day, I have no desire to attempt this. I have a crazy fear of heights. But….I give you all the credit to be able to accomplish this. 👍🏻😃
The camera might make it look a little scarier than it actually is. Plus you have the chains the whole time. But glad you enjoyed the video !
Great pov footage, those grey skies above made the rock colors really POP 😊!
Yeah it was a very interesting day for sure. I love some moody weather. Nice hiking vids btw!
@@budchap thanks so much. Yeah never been to Angels Landing or that area. Would Lovvvvvve to go! Thanks for sharing
Of course! And it was my first time. I would say it’s worth a road trip if you have the time. Hoping to make it into Oregon within the year! Looks like that’s where you do a lot of exploring
@@budchap good info! 👍. PNW is here to explore for when you can! 🌲
@@budchap Planing on a trip in march. Long drive from Iowa but camping in truck shell so staying off ground tent camping. and shooting for 2 weeks out and back!
This is hard to even watch... there's no way I could make that height without having a heart attack!
Omg I’m having a heart attack just watching. Wish I wasn’t so afraid of heights, yet jumping from a plane was the easiest thing I’ve ever done..
If jumping from a plane was easy, you got this haha. I guess with skydiving things happen fast so not much time to panic
Wow thats nuts
Recommend to anyone!
Does anyone know when the chains were installed, who installed them, and what is the history of this hike before they were put in?
I feel like the most vulnerable / dangerous part of this hike is 3:30-5:00. Can somebody with experience confirm that? The infamous step up part at 4:30 is what I'm worried about most but don't know what the drop on the right looks like.
I would say your right about that part having the most exposure.. but as you can see, there is chains along the way.. I’m not a huge fan of heights but it was manageable. In my eyes it’s worth the risk because it’s such a beautiful and unique hike
I wonder who we're the brave souls who installed those chains with nothing to hold onto while up there....
it's wider than a sidewalk
Knocked it out three years ago and I can tell you it truly is America's ultimate test hike! Fourteen deaths since 2010.
