FILM DESCRIPTION:
Devastated by the loss of their unborn baby, Kate (Vera Farmiga) and John (Peter Sarsgaard) decide to adopt a child. At the orphanage, both feel drawn to a little girl (Isabelle Fuhrman) named Esther, and soon the couple take their new daughter home. But when a dangerous series of events unfolds, Kate begins to suspect that there is something evil lurking behind the child's angelic exterior.

For an actress at that age, she had probably the best acting skills I've seen. She had that Russian accent throughout the movie, her whole demeanor, her transition from a curious and reserved girl to a psychopath. And that plot twist was just so well done.

Yeah it totally got me off guard and it was brilliant. Still the scene when she seduce the husband is weird because even though in the movie she is an adult: 1. at the time of the scene we don't know that and 2. the actress was 10.

The fact that she refused to go to the dentist and has to wear false teeth to pose as a child is messed up.
WHY would she deliberately let her teeth get that rotten?! Even a disguise wouldn't had fooled anybody with her bad breath! Her breath is no doubt gotta be awful and her old teeth should had fall out by now and she'd just cover that up with a fake story about a condition.
Don't why she'd LET her teeth get that disgusting to begin with. It's a miracle they haven't completely fallen out by now!

I had a friend with the same condition. Sometimes even showing her ID wasn't enough to get into a club!

@@jonathaningram8157 Conversation-wise Tommy was just like any adult. After awhile her preadolescent voice & appearance is totally forgotten. And it helps she's not the homicidal type like in this movie.

Once a woman said *_WTF?!_* when seeing Tommy & her daquiri, piercing stares from us shut her up. She's always around friends & aquaintences, sometimes people from work when she goes to bars, festivals & stuff. So other than an occasional yokel who can't understand that puberty never paid Ms. Quinn a visit, it's really nothing.

One thing that scratches my head is that here everyone thinks Esther is a little kid but In orphan first kill she literally drives a car and someone stops her and then she gets put for adoption like a child and we know kids don’t drive.

I know that Kate and John, their 12 year old son Daniel, and their 5 year old deaf daughter Max didn't realize that something was wrong with Esther since they adopted her as a sister.
Why didn't the doctor contact the police?? Calling the mom didn't make much sense lol
Calling the police when they're in different countries and without knowing if the family will be in the house when the police comes? You dumb?
Police would take the word of a local woman more seriously than a medical professional from a distant country.
A doctor in Estonia or Romania cannot contact a local precinct because a 911 call to a specific locale's Police dept. does not work from overseas (And this was a 2009 film... u can't blame the internet or cell phones in an 80's movie when they didn't exist🤣 )
Also, the doctor does not have their address or information on the family that is needed to make an emergency if he actually did contact that specific police dept.
All the doctor had was an e-mail from the mom and a contact #... He had no idea where the family lived or how to contact them otherwise.
he was from an overseas country and likely couldn't contact the police, and either way I think the US didn't have a record of Leena, they had record of Esther
