His character on this show was comedic genius, my favorite scene was when he took his van and cut it up to make a castle in Elaine's apartment. That gesture blew her mind!!.
One of the best ,and there were several ,Jim went Elaine on a date to an art showing ,they needed an entertainer, Jim played the piano, chop sticks ,and then Mozart ,he stopped ,oh I must have had lessons !
@@robertrowe2451 The Harvard episode when he first bit into the brownie and the expression on his face. I'll never forget it. It's right up there with, as God as my witness I thought Turkey's could fly. Both great shows.
As much as I love Doc Brown with all my 80's heart it's a shame he isn't remembered more for this. I laughed harder at this than anything from the last decade or two.
Somehow Chris Lloyd has been denied his place among the great comedic actors. And, if you're wondering what he's like; I've met and spoke with him a couple of times, ...terrific, unassuming guy.
Can't get over how good the physical comedy was back then! Lloyd, hanks, Ritter and devito were a few of the best! The stooges and buster Keaton pioneered the way for these great actors!
Christopher Lloyd can play any role, from Reverend Jim to President of the United States. He's more suited to the Jim thing though. Once asked, have you ever done acid? Reply: not that I remember ...
Don't forget All in the Family. Archie, Edith the Dingbat, Michael the Meathead and Gloria. And look at the Spinoff shows that resulted. The Jeffersons, Maude..... Archie and Ignatowski had incredible facial expressions !!!
“Somebody better fix this door” sketch in the log cabin was priceless. The writers on Taxi are the best, complimented by superb performances by the cast most notably by Lloyd and De Vito.
Holy crap I'm dying here! Such great memories and amazing comic timing!!! Who'd a thunk it... A few years later and Jim's taking us back and forth in time!!! :-) #BTTF #EmmettBrown
Jim getting off from the floor of the cabin was priceless and also when he said grace before they ate Ernie the turkey. Love the last scene in this complication.
@@janeewalker indeed it is. I wish this video contained more from that episode. Hulu doesn't have that particular episode in their menu. They're missing three of the best episodes. Taxi was an excellent show and it was suddenly canceled without warning. There will never be another sitcom like it.
Omitted was my favourite clip of Jim answering the question of the population of Brazil. When congratulations were offered he replied “wow was I right “
Something tells me Kramer from Seinfeld got some of his traits from Jim. I mean look at him tryin to close the cabin door. Kramer stole those acts from him.
Michael Richards---in all fairness to him----was doing a lot of wild physical/almost Jim-like behavior on that 70's nighttime show, FRIDAYS, which may have proceeded TAXI. (FRIDAYS may be forgotten by now. Or not? It was kind of a west coast version of SNL and came on for a year or so not too long after SNL had become such a big thing. At least as memory serves. Guess I should just look it up. ;-7
“Tony’s Sister and Jim” was a great episode! Taxi’s run was filled with ups and downs as I felt that it was either great or mediocre at best. Season 1 and Season 5 were thin as the writers were finding their way early and barely hanging on at the end but the middle 3 seasons were wonderful. You could say the same for the acting. There was some brilliance with DeVito, Kaufman, and Lloyd and average from the rest. Much of the crew moved on to give us Cheers which I believe was a bit more consistent in the first 5 or so seasons as they improved overall in writing, acting, and production. Christopher Lloyd, George Wendt, Rhea Perlman, and Ted Danson all performed (at different levels) on both shows. The days of this style of situational comedy are over but we can still watch these timeless classics.
His reverend Jim scene...Omgoodness. luv him. My favourite character, even though eve1 was really really good.💜👍 However his part in One flew over the cuckoo's nest, AWESOME.
I`ll always remember the episode where, for some reason, there was a piano in the depot. Jim sat down and played a classical piece like a maestro! When he finishes, stunned, Alex says: "Jim...!... I never knew you played the piano!!!" to which Jim replies: "Neither did I!"... looking completely bewildered. Absolutely brilliant acting and delivery, complimenting the superb script writing.
A friend of mine was at a wedding and the bride's family was related to the Lloyd's. They were all entertainers and performed at the reception. Christopher Lloyd did the piano sketch.
I remember an episode where Elaine was having a private party (or was invited to one) and the only one available to go with her was Jim. She was apprehensive, but he showed up clean shaven and in a tux. There was a piano there and he sat down and played it like a master. He exclaimed, "I guess I must have taken lessons!"
1 character that absolutely attracted me to the very well written show was Jim...Christopher Lloyd's added comedic added to a very talented cast and just blew the doors off!😅
The funny thing is Jim was actually a genius with an extremely wealthy family. And he had one small nibble of a pot brownie and that was his downfall. :)
Love Christopher Lloyd as Iggy (and as Doc Brown). Classic funny stuff 😂. Hard to believe he actually played a Klionge (however you spell it) in Star Trek III: The Search For Spock. He's chillingly great at playing a villain, but it's the lovable rolls he'll always be remembered for.
I cant believe these clips didn't include when Jim was an uptight academic guy and his girlfriend convinced him to try a weed brownie and his face suddenly turned to that clueless expression he has.
Why didn't you include the driver's test scene... "What does yellow light mean.... Slow down.... Whaaat...doooes....yellloooow.....liiiight.....meeeean ?"
My favorite scene of all time. This was a Part 2 compilation so I’m willing to bet the earlier scenes were on his Part 1 compilation from Season 2-early season 3ish..these are from Season 3-4 if memory serves. A couple of years back I posted the “Jim gets his license” scene on social media and a cousin of mine remembered me watching it and rolling around on the living room floor as if I just discovered what funny really was. I was 17 or 18 and this was in 1987. What an impact that scene made!
Serjio get me the police! (Jim explains him what happens when you eat the Cookies) Serjio: the police are on the phone Lui: Tell them to mind their own business!

Absolutely.
Christopher lloyd is by far the most under rated timer of all time!!!

Love this show. Jim is the greatest! He's lovable as well as hilarious!
Adding Jim to the cast was brilliant. The best episode ever was Jim at Harvard.

@@voiceofraisin241 Never heard that. I wouldn't be surprised. He's one of the greats.
And Jim taking driver's license test dude!!! 😆😆
I love how Jim listens to the sound of the cookie crumbling in his fingers as part of his way of identifying the cocaine in the cookie.
One of the great characters from TV of any era. Played brilliantly by Christopher. The sketch from when he took his drivers license exam is a classic.

Christopher Lloyd, Andy Kaufman and Danny DeVito the three headed comedic monster of the series.

Jim's French was really well done. I was pleasantly surprised, he had the accent close enough also.
“Somebody better fix this door” sketch in the log cabin was priceless.

..."Southern Peru"..."Before the Rains".....
Great scene.
From 1978-1982 we laughed, it took some time to realize the comic geniuis that Taxi was.
How could you lose? Get all those guys and gal in one room? Where's that script? You know what this is worth? Bumpkiss!
The bit where Jim takes Elaine to the symphony ("A yoda doll for a beautiful lady!") should have been included. THAT was funny.
Peru,- southern Peru, 74' - before the rain,..... best gag on that show. That and Jim in college before the.......
And when he played the piano at the elegant party.
Doc before Doc.. Christopher Lloyd is an amazing actor, still kicking and was amazing in the new rick and morty ad

The door scene a classic, to see some good slapstick comedy best of taxi.
He was underappreciated for his physical comedy. He was up there with John Ritter and the others.

Taxi was so well written and such a great cast, but more then that it was the whole vibe of the 70s.
