As soon as I click on your video, I give it a thumbs up without even watching it. I love your info bro. Thanks, and I don't even own a drone, but when I eventually do, I'll be ready.
Hi Billy Thank you very much for all excellent education videos you made , I always give you a thumbs before I watch it, I do not have a drone yet , I will order Mavic 2 soon, which micro sd card you recommend ? I like to get 128 gb
I have trouble reading my SD card directly from Mavic after updating to the new W10, have any drivers for it? can read the SD card directly on the computer
We have the DJI Mavic 2 Zoom & use an iMAC desktop and iPAD. Will the DJI recommended Sandisk 32G or 64G Extreme Pro V30 with UHS-1 Speed Grade 3 download for our MAC? THANK YOU, we really learn a lot from you!
Lexar Professional 1000x UHS-II/U3 - 64GB - 150MB/s read, 45MB/s write Mavic specs in the owner's manual said max MicroSD of capacity 64GB, so I bought a couple with the intention of switching them if space ran low during a shoot. For write speed, 4k x 30fps should be around 8MB/s, maxing to 12MB/s if there is a lot of fast motion; plus there's always a bit of overhead, so I was looking for 15MB/s minimum for my Mavic. Amazon had a good price on the Lexar, so I bought 'em.
Great video, seeing this makes me feel better about the current disks I'm using. I use sandisk extreme 3 with 32gb. I bought a Groupon for several of these about a year ago. I use them on my P3 pro, P4, P4P+ and Mavic. So far no problems with any of them. You did a good job explaining these damm cards to us, with the U3 coming out I wasn't sure if it was faster or slower.
just got my drone it is a skyrider 6 blade i havent been able to get the camera to work --the inst book said nothing about a sd card do all drone have them if so what size do i need now --geeezz
Hey there, i have problem copying files from micro sd (panasonic16Gb class3) which came with my mavic pro.it keeps erroring while copying onto my pc or laptop and says it needs to be formatted!any advice?tnx
I’m going to try the card you recommended for your Phantom 4pro on my spark: I probably won’t get that many gigs but would like to have some extra storage, this should work right; or am I wrong?
I saw a rating for sandisk cards and it said uhs 3 is what should be used when shooting 4K and that uhs 1 is not recommended an I have seen this and how it can glitch out. (I am using the sandisk extreme 32gb and uhs 3. I use two because my old drone did not support 64gb)
I just bought a Phantom 4. my video feed to my iPad is sketchy. the screen greens out or I have trouble seeing through the camera of where the Drone is looking. I have the antenna paddles facing the Drome at all times. But the video quality is intermittent. The Drone is not very far away always within say 800 feet. any suggestions on improving feed quality?
Great video, Thanks! I've been using the DJI stock 16 GB card in my Mavic, but have been wanting to upgrade. This video definitely cleared up some questions I had, particularly concerning speed. Thanks Again, keep up the great vids!
hi! I have the Phantom 3 SE and I use my GoPro micro SD card which is the SanDisk Extreme Pro 3 V30 XCI. now I have had no problems recording 4k with my GoPro, but when I film 4k with my Phantom it says my SD card is invalid and it will freeze, so I have to land the drone to take the SD out and put it in again. I have lowered the resolution to 1080p at 48 fps and it still shows that invalid SD card error. I had to lower even more to 1080p 29fps or something like that. It finally works but it should be able to work at 4k, why is this happening?
Would the one with the number three increase my transfer speed to my computer let's say a 64 gig or would you recommend 128? Also I'm trialing resolve do I need to have a fast computer to run that what do you believe should be my minimum specs? I'm running PC and I don't want to spend the money for premiere Pro.
AWESOME VID. i am using the 128gb sandisk. I can and do shoot video on it daily. My problem is, when I shoot stills/photographs, THEY ARE NOT ON THE DISK. I remove card from my phantom 4 advanced, insert it into my Crystalsky monitor to view my photos and there are no photos. I am pressing the button, I can hear the camera, but when I review the sandisk there are simply no phots taken. Is there something am doing wrong. Can you do a video on how to take photos/stills and then how to download them. Thanks
Is there a setting in the app that tells the drone to save all recordings and phots on the SD Card? I every time I record a video and take a photo on the drone it saves it to me phone. Is there a setting in the app that I can set to save all the photos and videos to the SD Card?
Billy, what about phantom 3 professional. Do you know if a 64gb can work properly? UHS 3 is a standard card that I will use and of course it' s a Sandisk Extreme PRO 32gb and for sure it's an overkill! Can I expand to 64gigs?
very very usefull video !!! im using a samsung 32gb evo plus U1 it comed with the drone had no problems until yesterday when i had a message SLOW WRITE SPEED (i was recording 1080p x 30fps) ive looked up the spec and that card is a write 20mbs witch is a abot the minimum of DJI 12mbs i just want to know what mite cause this to happen .. now im recording 1080p x 24 fps with no problem ... may try going back to 1080p 30fps
We purchased a Scandisk Ultra SD Card 128 GB V10 for our Skyviper Journey Drone, but the drone is not recognizing the SD Card on the Skyviper Viewer 2.0 app settings. Is there something I'm doing wrong?
I'm using Lexar 64 GB cards (UHS-1, Class 10). Always stuck to Lexar on my DSLRs, GoPro's and drones, and never had a bad experience with them. Btw, the amount of video you get on a card might vary from device to device, depending on how much compression is done on the video file and which codec is used.
Billy im using a Samsung 256 EVO+ Micro SD U3 XC1 with my pantom4 pro. It seems ok and the footage plays well on the PC. But the Phantom controller keeps saying recommend formatting sd card! Apart from that everything is working well! I'm using a 256 micro sd as I can't be bothered changing sd cards all the time lol.
I just got my E58 Drone today. I'm gonna need a Micro SD card. Doing a little research prior to my purchase, I found that these cards come in SDHC and SDXC. Now I'm all confused. I dont want to buy a card that isnt compatible. What do you suggest?
I have a Sony 16 MB HC 1 I have a beginner question for ya: I always film 1080p 24-60 fps. Whenever I upload my footage to my comp, there is always 2 uploads for each shot. One of them turns out great and the other is corrupted (choppy and fades in and out). Why is this and what can I do to just get the single working shot to save storage? Thanks bro.
I'm using SanDisk Extreme Plus 64, for all three of my GoPro Hero3+ camera's. Even though, I'm still using the Lexor 16 MG card, I plan to use the SanDisk Extreme Plus 64 on my Mavic too. Note, when the GoPro Hero3+ Black was released in 2013, GoPro then sold on their website and recommended the SanDisk Ultra 32, later in the year, when SanDisk released the Extreme, the company switched its recommendation from the Ultra to the Extreme. So both the Ultra and Extreme should suffice as storage cards for 1080 and 4K.
Read issues with Ultra cards. Handed my SanDisk Ultra 32GB C10/U1 cards down to my GoPro Hero 3 Black. P4 & Mavic Pro, bought (7) 32GB & (1) 64GB SanDisk Extreme Plus U3/V30 cards, bought 2 of the 16 GB 633x Lexar card/USB card reader combo packs on amazon just for the USB readers, 1 for each drone bag, and use the Lexar 16GB 633x cards (4 total) that came with each drone if I am just going up in the air for a quick aerial shot.
SanDisk 64GB Extreme PRO. Love it. I wanna see best ways to get the best image transmission signals on P4P. Sometimes mine will cut out around 900-1000 meters.
Hmmm i use a scandisk Ultra 64G V10, its has 10 in a circle not a U, i never shoot in 4k it stops the zoom function on the Mavic Pro from operating, and i have no devices that display in 4K hahaha, i believe everything i see is in 1080p
Hey Billy, I'm using the one that came in my mavic. Quick question I have a lexar 300x 32g that I use in my go pro hero 5. Would this work in my mavic?
Hi Billy, I have a unrelated question regarding the dji osmo +. I know it uses a 1/2.3 cmos sensor but I was wondering if you had any info or heard any rumours about a successor that would use the 1" cmos sensor that the phantom 4 pro uses? Any feedback would be appreciated
Using the card included with the drone is perfect! You can always just get that same speed in a larger size if you find yourself running out of room on the card.
Hey Billy. I have one question. Does a Apacer 32 GB work fine with the Phantom 3 Standard? Just to know, it is a class 10 and UHS 1 SD card. I like your videos and keep making good ones. Also I subscribed. Thanks for the video. It was helpful.
Is it OK to send you screenshots of my computer hardware? I can't Get a straight answer on if my computer is slow to run the black magic resolve as my editing software?
Another great vid, Billy. Extremely informative. I'm also using a SanDisk Xtreme class 3 64 GB card on my Mavic Pro. Question or two for you. After you fill up your card with as much data as it can handle, do you get another card and start using the new card and archive the one you were using? I was thinking about doing that as I haven't filled up my first card yet. I have a 4 TB backup drive that I copy everything too when I'm done shooting or filming for the day. So all the raw data goes there and I just edit of the 4 TB drive. But I don't remove the data from the card itself. I just let it keep going. What do you think is a best practice?
I was thinking of just formatting it as well. But I just wasn't sure what to do. Maybe that is the best thing. After all, I am copying all the data to my backup drive. So what would the point be of saving it on the SD card....LOL!!!
Billy what it be OK if I email you a couple of screenshots to see if my computer can handle Re Solve and also if it can handle a number three microSD card. For some reason I think my hardware and software might be too slow to run black magic.
Hi Billy, I also have the extreme Sandisk 64, I noticed that my MAVIC stopped recording while I thought I had recorded a long flight, I was under the impression that I had run out of space, when I look at the card on my computer I realized that I still had more then half of the space still available, I wonder why that happened and has this happened to you before? It has happened to me a few times now. Thanks for the sweet vid kid.
+Osvaldo Cintron Thanks Osvaldo! Your Mavic may have stopped recording because the card is too slow. Happened to me and once I upgraded it never happened again.
My Mavic also had card trouble with the included card. Gave a SD ERR message and all camera settings went N/A. Prior to the message had a flight like Osvaldo, video was missing. Picked up a Sandisk 16G u3 and so far all is well. Thanks for your videos.
I am currently diagnosing a similar issue. SanDisk Extreme 64Gb U3 V30 card is in use. Used to record in 1080p and never had an issue. Now as I am on vacation in Barbados I wanted to shoot at 4K. Twice while shooting now I have had the first clip of the flight record properly and at the exact moment when the clip 1 closes and clip 2 begins recording the camera seemed to go wonky and it looked on screen as though the gimbal flipped sideways and video ceased recording. Upon review on my computer later I see that the clip 2 did not exist... Frustrating while at a location I will never return to. The saved clips are all just under 4Gb and look perfectly normal. This is a suggested card but I have seen reports indicating that the cards may fail to operate properly and I think that is where I am. I have formatted my card both in my pc and my Mavic Pro with the same results. I will likely be unable to replace the card until I return home but may reduce resolution to 2.7k as a test for my last day here.
Hi Billy loving your videos and you are one of my go to places for Mavic Pro. However when I watch your videos it looks framed as if you are standing in a doorway! It feels to me like you have just opened the front door to me ;-) Just an observation LOL
What all kinda trouble can a person expect from the real cheap cards ? Through the years I have several makes and models of cards and they all seem to work well
Billy, u remember yesterday I was mentioning how the Mavic was having some "stuttering issues" with video recording? I am using the Lexar 128gb UHS-II U3 in the Mavic, and Lexar 64gb UHS-II U3 in the phantom. U think those cards could be creating recording glitches?
Billy Kyle but I'm wondering are they too fast? Does DJI even say their aircrafts support UHS-II? I haven't been filming since then due to the weather, but I'll let u know.
Hi Billy, good video for people knowing nothing about the SD cards, please note that it's a VERY good investement going for MLC cards, despite that theories say that SLC are better, my experience is quite the opposite. BTW. using Verbatim PRO+ microSDHC UHS-3 Class10 64 GB cards here, so far working perfectly, and not too expensive, about $1/GB.
I’m having a hard time with formatting the micro card with my drone. The drone is not recognizing my sd and consequently not letting me take pictures nor videos. Any thoughts on what it could be happening?
Hey how r u today i have an issue. I bought a 32g sandisk ultra plus micro sd HC1 V10. Its not working on my dji spark , saying sd card error please change it and on the dji app its showing the sd card icon( not valid) i dont know what to do or if i can get it to work and how. Any suggestions?? I can really use the help

As soon as I click on your video, I give it a thumbs up without even watching it. I love your info bro. Thanks, and I don't even own a drone, but when I eventually do, I'll be ready.
Always great info on your videos for new pilots like me...no BS just the facts, thank you for sharing your knowledge
Enjoy your tutorials Billy. Saves a ton of time wondering what's best when operating my drone. Great job buddy! Keep them coming.
+J Dubya Thank you! Glad to help!
I really appreciate your tips as I’m new to drones
Great clear and concise information. I can see you did your homework.
Nice work as usual Billy. I use your videos daily...some of the most timely and informative content available. Thanks for all your efforts.
+Chris Buckman Of course! Thanks for stopping by Chris

Seems lie DJI switched from including a Panasonic card to Lexar, they must be good. Thanks for the input Craig!
Hi, Which card is optimal to buy for SPARK, I would take 16Gb but dont know which type. Could you suggest please.
i just put in a 32gb sandisck what are you think is good?
Great video, seeing this makes me feel better about the current disks I'm using. I use sandisk extreme 3 with 32gb. I bought a Groupon for several of these about a year ago. Thanks Doug! U3 cards are fast enough for about any camera out right now.... Unless you're shooting with a Red lol.
What is the better card scan disk extreme pro or Plus for a 4K drone

I bought SanDisk extreme plus 64gb after watching this your video so can I shoot video in Mavic pro or phantom 4 with this card ?
1080P @ 48 FPS takes less space than 30 FPS? Can someone confirm or is it a mistake?
i just received my new Typhoon Q500 4K camera drone , Which SD card would you recommend ? 128mb class 10

My phantom4 is not video transmite and linking button is red and green blinking

I have a phantom 3se drone. What card can I use that's best and fast?
Awesoome! Thank you for sharing
I am using the SanDisk 64 3 Pixtor, from Best Buy. This was cheeper then the Extreme.
Whats your take on this Mini SD ?

i use the chepaer card.. samsung evo plus U3 64gb write 60mbps... gets around an hour and half of 4k vids..
My mavic mini came with a free 64gb UHS-1 card. Would that work in 2.7k?
The Sandisk Extreme Pro is the best card to use for the P4 Pro. It's faster than the Plus (which works good for the Mavic and P4 Standard).
AWESOME VID. i am using the 128gb sandisk. I can and do shoot video on it daily. My problem is, when I shoot stills/photographs, THEY ARE NOT ON THE DISK. may try going back to 1080p 30fps
We purchased a Scandisk Ultra SD Card 128 GB V10 for our Skyviper Journey Drone, but the drone is not recognizing the SD Card on the Skyviper Viewer 2.0 app settings. Is there something I'm doing wrong?
Just received my holy stone 720E drone, but not sure what sc card I would need.
Im about yo go to the store but not surr what to buy for my mavic pro platinum.
Billy one more thing. I think you have the best instructional videos on the Internet that's why you're my go to person.
SanDisk extreme plus class 3 64gb seems to work well with my Mavic pro.......
I'm using Lexar 64 GB cards (UHS-1, Class 10).

+J Determann Good idea!
I just got my E58 Drone today. I'm gonna need a Micro SD card. Doing a little research prior to my purchase, I found that these cards come in SDHC and SDXC. Now I'm all confused. I dont want to buy a card that isnt compatible. What do you suggest?

+Will Lee Awesome Will! Thanks for the clarification.
Billy how about a link to the one you own
Great video I use Lexar 633 64GB X 5 cards for my HTC phone, GoPro Back Edition and Now my Mavic Pro. Fantastic cards Never let me down.
+JustOneForAll Have to check out Lexar, a lot of people seem to recommend them.
Good job Billy
Billy I'm sorry one more thing. If I don't have a superfast computer does the speed of my micro SD card matter?
Great information
Good info Thank You
i cant remove my sd card and im using a samusng 64gb microsd card
SanDisk 64GB Extreme PRO. Love it. I wanna see best ways to get the best image transmission signals on P4P. Sometimes mine will cut out around 900-1000 meters.
Hey Tyler, here is a video I made on image transmission settings if you would like to check it out: ruclips.net/video/wdhkNbIx6c8/видео.html
Hmmm i use a scandisk Ultra 64G V10, its has 10 in a circle not a U, i never shoot in 4k it stops the zoom function on the Mavic Pro from operating, and i have no devices that display in 4K hahaha, i believe everything i see is in 1080p
Lexar 633x 64GB XC1. Had no troubles at all.
I currently use in my P3 4K, Lexar Professional 32 GB 1000x microSDHC UHS-II card with no problems. Very fast download to computer.
Sandisk extreme 64gb works perfect in my Mavic with 4K
Hey Billy, I'm using the one that came in my mavic. Quick question I have a lexar 300x 32g that I use in my go pro hero 5. Would this work in my mavic?
Should work fine. What is the UHS rating on it?
Hi billy, the video was really useful, Would like to know if sometime the sd has given you an error message when trying to record with the drone
+T-Drone 1 I have gotten errors, but doing a simple format should resolve any issues unless your SD card is truly broken.
Have heard noting regarding a new Osmo, sorry Nickolai!
I'm using Sony 128 gb sdxc1 70mb/s. great video
Can anyone help me buying a suitable SD Card for DJI Mini 2. Thanks
I have a Phantom 4, which card do you recommend me? For now I am using the one included with the drone, SanDisk Extreme 16GB UHS 3
Using the card included with the drone is perfect! You can always just get that same speed in a larger size if you find yourself running out of room on the card.
I use the same card for my Mavic, Sandisk extreme 64gb u3
+Micah Vislisel Awesome! It's such a beast
red or bule
I use a Lead 128Gb card U3 without a problem.
You would recommend using the 64gb sandisk Sd card or 32gb for Dji mavic pro?
+T-Drone 1 64 usually does me good.
No questions, I use Sandisk Extreme U3 32Gb. Great video.
Thanks Ricardo!
New sub great content it's alot of help keep it up
Thanks for stopping by! Always glad to help
Billy what does the v60 and v90 do and why are they different from the U3? I lost my SD card this weekend. Thanks.
+Z 2 These are brand new, used for high resolutions above 8K, although there are barely any cameras that can shoot in this resolution.
Hey Billy. I have one question. Does a Apacer 32 GB work fine with the Phantom 3 Standard? Just to know, it is a class 10 and UHS 1 SD card. I like your videos and keep making good ones. Also I subscribed. Thanks for the video. It was helpful.
Thanks for subscribing! As for that card, it should work fine because you aren't shooting in 4K.
Is it OK to send you screenshots of my computer hardware? I can't Get a straight answer on if my computer is slow to run the black magic resolve as my editing software?
Sure. bkyle015@gmail.com
Do you have to format the sdcard before using it in the drone?
Yes

So all the raw data goes there and I just edit of the 4 TB drive. But I don't remove the data from the card itself. I just let it keep going. What do you think is a best practice?
+Ian Andrews Hey Ian, thanks for the comment! I usually transfer my files to my archive drive and then format my SD once I put it back into the drone.
I was thinking of just formatting it as well. But I just wasn't sure what to do. Maybe that is the best thing. After all, I am copying all the data to my backup drive. So what would the point be of saving it on the SD card....LOL!!!
Always good to have a few backup drives, I am currently looking into RAID storage lol

Billy what it be OK if I email you a couple of screenshots to see if my computer can handle Re
Solve and also if it can handle a number three microSD card. For some reason I think my hardware and software might be too slow to run black magic.
+Z 2 Transfer speed of the card does is not limited by your computers hardware. It will transfer at the speeds listed regardless of your specs.
It feels to me like you have just opened the front door to me ;-)
Just an observation LOL
Lol good observation, I am just sitting at my desk. Looking for a new place to make my videos.
What all kinda trouble can a person expect from the real cheap cards ? Through the years I have several makes and models of cards and they all seem to work well
Depends on what you’re shooting
Billy, u remember yesterday I was mentioning how the Mavic was having some "stuttering issues" with video recording? I am using the Lexar 128gb UHS-II U3 in the Mavic, and Lexar 64gb UHS-II U3 in the phantom. U think those cards could be creating recording glitches?
Those cards seem fast enough to be writing footage. Have you seen the problem happen again?
Billy Kyle but I'm wondering are they too fast? Does DJI even say their aircrafts support UHS-II? I haven't been filming since then due to the weather, but I'll let u know.
Good vid mate, would have been perfect when I was doing my research!
+Deep Dey Thanks man! Which card did you end up going with?
Billy Kyle 64gb Sandisk Extreme bro, it's doing me well.
+Deep Dey Awesome. Glad you made a good choice
Hi Billy, good video for people knowing nothing about the SD cards, please note that it's a VERY good investement going for MLC cards, despite that theories say that SLC are better, my experience is quite the opposite.
BTW. using Verbatim PRO+ microSDHC UHS-3 Class10 64 GB cards here, so far working perfectly, and not too expensive, about $1/GB.
been watching for a bit good info!
i have three the stock one, a 32gb scandisk extreme plus v30 uhs 3 and 64gb of the same specs of the 32gb
Sounds like you are never running out of storage lol
lol nonot anytime soon =) love the vids keep it up
+ryanamaggio187 Thanks! Will do :)
I’m having a hard time with formatting the micro card with my drone. The drone is not recognizing my sd and consequently not letting me take pictures nor videos. Any thoughts on what it could be happening?

I use 64gb UHS-3. And have a spare 32gb class10.
