    Hi Ash, love all the videos you do as they are so informative and practical. I flew my MA2 the other morning for the first time, and put my 128Gb sandisk sd card in, which worked perfectly. I notice that in the DJI fly app in albums there are photos and videos stored, is that the cache ie part of the 8gb onboard storage and how do I move them to my laptop? thanks :)

    Very Good Ash. Years ago I bought 2 x 128GB cards for my Typhoon H. It kept saving crap or failed to save. Not all the time just as & when it felt like it. After researching I realised the U1 cards I had bought were just too slow so I just use them for old back up stuff and now only use smaller U3 cards but they're 64GB and I never get anywhere near filling them. I agree that 32 GB is probably plenty for average use. I'm now on Mavic Mini & Mavic Air 2 and they're fine on them too. Thanks. Jim

    I bought 2 SanDisk Extreme micro SD cards XC V30 U3 A2 to put in my new DJI FPV and Goggles V2. The video that is recorded on the Googles is always fluid although in low resolution but the video that is recorded on the drone at 4K 60 fps is always with several breaks, it seems that sometimes freezes or that you miss frames. If I change the cards between Goggle and Drone the problem remains.
    If it was a camera problem, surely the video would not look good on Goggles. Could it be that these cards do not have the performance necessary to record the 4k 60 fps of the drone?
    Thank you in advance for your help!

    May sound stupid but can you connect the drone directly to pc and still be able to use the memory card as a drive still?
    Just bought my first drone, its not arrived yet but i know to well the universal design of memory card slot springs aren't the most well robust. I'd personally prefer ro use one big card and carry the risk of loosing all my data than having to manage multiple cards and keep them maintained (formating). Also don't wabt to eject and install sd cards more than is necessary as these drones ain't cheap.

  • @Aerosnapper

    Ash - great help, as usual. I make a point of formatting in the drone. I’m sure a format is a format, but just in case, any ‘features’ the manufacturer applies are taken into account.

    Ash, good advice that will save many people in the future. One thing I do is format a new card in the device it will be used in to make sure the card is what the device will be expecting. I do this even if the new card is the same format the device specifies. While purchasing cards recently I came across SanDisk 32 & 64 GB Express Pro cards, class 10 but the u-rating on the image was a 1. At this point I question the validity of the card and move on. It was a few dollars cheaper but not worth it if I'm not sure of the authenticity.

    great video, the only point I would raise is you keep recommending and showing an SD card, and not a micro SD card. People will be confused! I always download my footage as soon as I get home, and back it up multiple times as well. Being a digital shooter, I have got into a good routine.

    I believe SD cards are one of those purchases best made at a traditional brick and mortar shop over an online seller such as Amazon. Too many fakes in circulation on there and you might even end up getting some off-brand stuff that doesn't look like the image of the product in the listing. Whereas in a physical store I can see for myself what the product is actually like.
    With that said, I currently use a 64 GB SanDisk Ultra MicroSD card in my Mavic Mini. I've noticed that when recording video on it that my Mavic Mini sometimes lags before returning to a live feed again. Would switching to a SanDisk Extreme Pro series card solve this problem or is the problem related to something else? Thanks for your opinion on SD cards for drones. I'll keep your recommendations in mind the next time I shop around for a new MicroSD card.

    • @rosaryvsbanpaia
      @rosaryvsbanpaia 3 года назад

      The ultra is 1080p compatible only you can record any vid resolution that you want but when you play back you are going to encounter the issue you just mention.
      Extreme or extreme pro is still the best.

    😮 I don't know that I'd like changing my SD card with each battery change.
    I did lose a 256g card in a drone that went down, so I won't likely make that mistake again.
    Though on average, I use 100g per shoot.
    One 128g Sandisk extreme pro has served me well. I always carry an extra 128 and a 64, just in case I fly for more than 2 hours. I shoot 80% in 5.4k 10 bit. That's a memory glutton.
    And yes, your joke was shared so matter of fact, my face was indeed momentarily corrupted.

  • @SunriseWaterMedia
    @SunriseWaterMedia 3 года назад

    Great info, Ash. I noticed my SD card has a 60 mb/s write speed. It's advertised as 4k capable, but I'm thinking I need 100 mb/s for best results.

    • @Droning-ON
      @Droning-ON  3 года назад +1

      No that's more than adequate, note the section about speed and performance, megabytes and megabits are very different. To write 120megabits video to a card, it's only writing at 15 megabytes per second!

      Yes you absolutely can but we'd recommend not using such large cards, there are many reasons but mainly because if you lose your drone in a flyaway or similar, then you also lose an expensive card. Also if that cars gets corrupted, you lose everything on it, so using smaller cards splits up your points of failure.

    Another informative video but where you buy is as important as what you buy ,I purchased a 16Gb Sandisk micro SD from a dealer on Ebay sure it looked just like a Sandisk but I was soon getting data loss problems so I contacted SanDisk and sent them a closeup photo they confirmed it to be fake one of the things was how the ink on the screen printing was done it just was not as sharp and clean as the real thing .So buy from a reputable dealer and be careful with Amazon as there are as many fakes as there are genuine. PS I reported the Ebay dealer to Sandisk.
