One problem with these AI gadgets that doesn't get talked about enough is the response lag. I'm guessing the pin is using the cloud to do all the heavy lifting, and it's far too slow. For these little gadgets to work, there needs to be huge strides in local AI and on-device AI that only needs to cloud compute when a request is far outside their operational range.
It seems like it needs to just be an Ai translator that can connect to your phone. Cameras are on phones, as is music, which is also on smart watches, and why do you need it to recognise things in the camera? Your phone can do that too. What the world needs really is a highly responsive ‘Universal Translator’ from Star Trek. And make it smaller, like half or quarter the size, which could be done if the camera and silly laser were removed. But mainly, who would waste $24 a month on this?
Why didn’t they just make an AI focused smartwatch that works standalone from a smartphone? They could project onto the wrist with more stability if they still want to push that gimmick
5:54 if you have bluetooth earbuds, you can connect them to your phone (instead of the pin), then tap them to talk to the AI Agent on your phone. You get 90% of these features and not spend an additional $700 and $300 a year subscription.... bonus it's your phone, not a separate phone number. They already made a bluetooth star trek badge that let you do all of this with your phone. Humane should have made this just work with your phone. It would cost way less and the battery would last way longer.
Useless, phones are way more helpful, this is a device & company that will disappear within 18 months unless they just release an app. Over engineering.
Unnecessary, accessibility apps and settings, like voice control and gesture, are widely supported on smartphones. People in these situations want to use the same websites and products as everyone else, no need to add a layer of pseudoinfotmative vomit from chatgpt. This would not help them.
its only a microphone conected wirelessly to the internet like our phones but its slow. add to that you have the device attached to your chest and it gets hot and needs frequent charging and replacement of them too and its very heavy. its a fab idea but its not there yet in anyway, i am being compleatly honest when i say if you gave me one for free i would not take it. i am so glad so many people are calling it out. if you gave someone an empty box of chocolates they would not be happy even if it was a gift.
If it were not so expensive, I probably would’ve given it a try. I would like as little friction in my life as possible. taking the phone out of my pocket to do things to schedule events, add reminders and so on is rather impeding the flow.
It would be useful if you hold out an item at a grocery store and ask it if you need this item and it’ll give you a response based on your list or if you had it before and liked it or your better half liked it. In addition it’ll save the image and reminds you later for whatever reasons.
Cool just put it in all in Apple Watch 10 or a totally new band for the watches that has this sit on the inside of the wrist so you can palm the projection like the video shows.
For the first time I see something that works with Italian language and not with others, amazing, that was hilarious. The overheating issue it must be fixed as soon as they can, if it gets hot with couple of questions it is not so useful. The answers are quite basic with not so much details, the idea in general is not bad at all, but for that price you can buy a good MP and do much more other things, including AI conversations. The mandatory subscription doesn't make it appealing as well.
It's a cool piece of tech that is clearly in the early beta or late alpha stage right now. I wonder if their investors pushed them to release it before it was ready?
I feel like you could see Google just make their own version of this with Gemini built in. But I really think no-one will be talking about this device 6 months from now.
A self contained phone that doesn't give you basic tools that you regularly use on your phone as demonstrated in other reviews. They took the idea of not using a screen a bit too far: it doesn't do alarms, reminders, etc. Is it an accessory or is it ACTUALLY a device?
They missed the mark. I see what they went for but it’s not fluid enough. It needs: hand tracking technology. Look at the meta question and Apple Vision Pro. This device would benefit with that tech so that it tracks your hand and the laser projector can lock on to your hand and keep the projector display motion tracked real time on your hand. So that you seamlessly hold your hand up at any position and it is displayed nicely. Better cameras. of course to read and see things better. Add a clip to the device. Connect to a smart phone: we all know this device works better as a phone accessory. (Doesn’t mean a bad thing, but this is more of a Apple Watch type of technology.) What I like: that this is a great fast way to access AI. I see how this is very useful. The craftsmanship and how solid it looks is great. However the overheating and the lack of refined/reliable AI makes this tech ahead of its time.
