Seems like an easy enough mod. You can see light through the ear cup, all you would have to do is block the vent hole, perforate the chamber between the fans and the earcups and remove the filters for extra airflow. Filter not needed cause ears don't breathe.
For a product that seems to have a ton of work and effort put into it, this is the exact definition of “we were so focused on if we can do this and forgot to ask if we should do this”
The crazy part is that some of their prototypes look a whole lot less "dyson", but could easily find a market in the cosplay and "cyber punk" crowd. The sleek, Dyson-brand design aesthetic kinda ruins this concept by itself in an odd way.
@1Max-Man They could have hired Tom Hardy for a commercial. Adding modes like Transformer voices would be a neat. BTW my favorite voiceover so far in movies would be agent smith, its the real reason I watched those matrix movies. Also V for vendetta. These strange voice acts are what make big Hollywood movies memorable after all those years.
Nah, Mike is fixated on it from medical virus prevention only. This product is really for environmental pollutants, like high aqi from dust, which affects hundreds of millions of people around the world. If anything this just highlights the bias of westerners, who can't consider a world outside their own and it's possible needs. Habibi, come to Dubai in the Summer and tell me you don't want something that cools your face while blocking sand dust.
I can guarantee you that they have MANY consultants, and they did multiple rounds of testing and focus groups. The problem is not whether or not companies receive the information it is whether or not they deign to accept it. And sadly the people responsible for green lighting ideas live in a bubble of wealth which no amount of information can penetrate. More than likely, this thing is just to get people talking about the brand to hopefully boost sales of their other products.
I thoug it was something to smell different odors to have full vr immersion and such. I'd add that I'd like to be able to taste a movie as much as smell it. Perhaps food could be subtitute to smell and we'd be able to taste things like it's suppose to be smelling.
This is quintessential MKBHD. This is everything the channel stands for. Unbiased review of interesting curios. No matter how good or ridiculous...you will always get the good, bad and the ugly part of the product with extrordinary production value. Take a bow!
@tiachante I did read it, I know what he said. I’m just wondering why he said “Hats off to him for putting in so much work into his vids” when he said his videos were a mini documentary. How about you read before criticizing someone.
It always amazes me seeing just how hard it can be to manufacture a product even when you know tons of people will buy it, and yet weird niche stuff gets made all the time like it’s no big deal.
A niche product assumes there's a very specific group of people that need it. I think Dyson was just drunk at some party and bet he could do it. I mean the guy is really smart and this product doesn't make a lot of sense. Maybe he's doing it for the same reason of Elon Musk with his flamethrower and other weird products.
This was 100% an engineering challenge for minimising the vacuum and filters, experimenting with speaker drivers, and afterwards they thought “sod it, let’s give it a go on the store”.
@killemusen It’s what we call a “new product category” in the industry it can take ten years but by that time the product is refined and in use by many people
What I love is that Dyson job was served MKBHD just advertised their vacuum cleaner, blade less fan and hair dryer all in one video multiple times and mentioned how much he likes them.
@lajeandom my thoughts exactly. I have no doubt in my mind that the dyson car is just a showpiece so a real car manufacturer will ask to collaborate. then you get free product sales of the motors you already make without the hassle of selling and distributing a car
@addium3151 Dubious. Technically a speaker has a moving membrane, but when thinking of engineering, no one really thinks of speakers as a moving part because they are exceptions in terms of the 2 relevant things. 1. power consumption, and 2. failure rate
@addium3151 not at all in the same way. Starting up a fan uses a lot of energy, and I assume these are constantly having to push the motors to keep the fans going.
Did not expect to learn about Brownian motion of covid particles and loss leader marketing strategy in a tech video. This was hilariously entertaining and informative. I do like the idea of joystick controls on the ear cup.
I used to work in Dyson, and before I left the company I was working on this product. What I can say is, it is the first and very weird collaboration between the UK Dyson Engineering team, Malaysia Dyson Engineering team and China team. We all worked really hard on this product and it really has tonnes of features, but like what this video is suggesting, it creates more problems than it solves
@TELEVISIBLE what a myopic view on the whole Research and Development process - although this product should probably have been killed before deciding to go to market
I suppose the Malaysia and China customer base would have a need for this product. Id rather wear this thing than breath their air, regardless of possible medical side effects.
If this product is indicative of the companies future, then I predict your future kids won't know anything about the company as it won't be in existence.
What he meant by Dyson sphere is different guys. That’s a fictional concept where they cover the full sun with solar panels to get the maximum energy from it.
Dyson should make this into a motorbike helmet, like the fresh air could also be used for the fact that sometimes the visor gets foggy and also you could just straight up have the headphones to communicate better since your ears are in a housing not a confined space of cussioning.
Well as an Update. I did pitch the idea to the german Rep. of Dyson. I have received no reply as expected. If i do see a motorbiking helmet by Dyson i will be truly disappointed.
Fun fact: James Dyson tried over 5000 different prototypes of a bagless vacuum cleaner before getting a manufacturer on board - and that manufacturer only sold in Japan. Dyson used that money to launch his own business. The rest is history. So, of all inventors, Mr. Dyson seems to be familiar with hit and misses a lot. All that said, I just hope there aren't 5000 prototypes of these headphones LOL
Yep, Dyson tried to copy an industrial bagless cyclone vacuum he once saw in a sawmill. It's impressive that be built 5127 prototypes in five years... In any case, I guess his patented idea is just to use cyclonic separation in a (domestic) appliance. And to provide at least one "industrial strength" feature (apart from the pink color), he added an "industrial strength" price (equivalent to 10,000€ in 2023 money,).
I would say, he is not a really good inventor if it really did take him 5,000 prototypes to make, for all intents and purposes, a pretty straightforward product. I think a lot of DYSON'S products remind me of BOSE. Lots of marketing hype and premium prices.
This was a very fun video to watch. Also I really appreciate you called an expert to explain the product from medical point of view. Great video as always.
From an engineering perspective, it's pretty amazing to create a motorised air-purifier system that fits on your head, even if it is completely unnecessary.
it's just 2 tiny fans and 2 layer of filters with some vents running aroung on your ears. I honestly dont see anything impressive. The idea though, is wild.
No lie, this would've been the most popular products in the late 90s and early 00s internet cafes. The smoke in there, wow, I'll never forget how the AC/smoke smelled like.
Thinking like this is how they dropped the ball with this one. Only someone at Dyson thought this would be a good idea for this current time frame as well.
They also did a washing machine, well in the UK at least. Instead of one drum rotating, it was split in half which went in opposite directions. In principal, it would wash much better but in practice, components failed constantly and it chewed clothes. Definitely a miss!
I knew a couple of people who had them and they absolutely loved it and dreaded the day when it would have to be replaced. Expensive buggers, though....
They were hideous colours too, and Dyson swiftly killed them off. I don’t predict the headphones lasting very long either, and I’m surprised the lighting range has lasted as long as it has either…
And he reinvented the wheelbarrow in the 70s. That was expensive and a load of balls, well one actually, successful though, but not with builders, as far as I know.
I used to work at Dyson and honestly all of us in the non engineering departments thought it was a joke, yet another random thing the engineers work on that gets canned after years of development and £££££ - but here we are!
Thanks for taking one for the team. When you did the porta-potty test, my respect for you sky rocketed. I do like the joystick idea for music control though.
Honestly Marques this is the most complete review you have ever done or damn near it. From start to finish every thing was well said and the writing for theses headphones was excellent. You covered all of the tech as normal but when it came to reviewing the health benefits for a pair of headphones you covered what you could explain and then you brought your friend that specializes in the medical field to further analyze and breakdown that criteria for the potential customers while being honest,unbiased with personality. I love it 🙌
Crying from happiness, you mean? This video is one of the best marketing ads for Dyson. Before talking about the headphones, he also mentioned how amazing Dyson is, and how their vacuum cleaners, and bladeless fans, and hair dryers are amazing. As the video said, this is a perfect "lossless leader".
I do hope that one good thing comes out of this - other headphone manufacturers should implement the joystick for control and the live readout of noise.
You know a reviewer is a professional when he roasts the product he reviews but is also impressed by many things about it, like the packaging and the app monitoring the audio levels. Non-biased, truly good reviewer. Was so fun to watch!
you know the reviewer isn't professional when he doesn't even tries to inform himself about air filtration (positive pressure etc.) or tries the most obvious use like for pollen allergies. Even the doctor (?) doesn't get it right.. you need no seal, if you already push clean air inside the mask.
@ismaelyu5 I'm sure none of them, including you, have tested the product. I presume you just came from JRE's video on it, since you mentioned positive pressure. He stated in the video that it was a *light* breeze, which is fair, there would definitely be positive pressure, but what happens when you inhale sharply? I'd assume there would be a negative pressure differential that would most likely exceed it. Idk man, product is wild, and there are a lot of factors that could totally skew this any way you theorize about it
@AshrZ Your absolutely right on all points. JRE did an analysis and breakdown of the build but no test. Marq did more of a fast "is this thing for me" test. I'm missing a test with a person who actually needs it. In the end, the product is more of a "is it possible" then a "this is the best solution" engineering study.
If I saw someone wearing those headphones, I would chuckle. On top of that, if they told me what they were, I would laugh. On TOP of that, if they told me it was $1000 dollars, I would roll on the floor laughing my butt off. Well played Dyson.
Slaves had to cover their mouths with masks in times past. I'm sure the people at the WEF who said, "You'll own nothing and be happy" wouldn't dare try to bring slavery back in an evolved form.
Dude, no you wouldn’t lol. I don’t think ppl are buying this to be practical or anything else besides gimmick & saving it bc it will be worth something in the future just because it’s unique tech by a reputable company. It’s a cool piece of hardware/art & it looks very anime inspired which is also cool. Just because YOU don’t understand something doesn’t make it wrong. You sound like ur fun to be around at parties.
The tech is interesting and is probably ahead of its time, but i think this would be a great idea if they are able to integrate it right into motorbike helmets. If the filtration could be built into the helmets, you would have a much larger target audience.
Integrating air filtration into motorbike helmets without creating a perfect seal would prove flawed. If the filtration system cannot prevent pollutants from entering the helmet it will not provide the intended benefits in terms of improving air quality for the rider.
This actually could be really effective as a loss leader strategy, because now if they released $400-500 headphones with these features minus the respirator, and put their engineering talent towards high quality audio, I’d be interested to check them out, whereas before, I wouldn’t even consider looking at them.
In terms of opinion of "stuff will still getting in " at 10:36, as a ventilation engineer, I don't quite agree as air pressure from the mouth device will pressure out most of external "bad air" and the noses can still breath normally to exhaust CO2. So technically, no bad air will getting in unless you are at an extreme dusty environment then a level of dust mask will be require in this case
Bro, the way you explain background of the company first to enable your viewers to get all the context is just SMART & OUTSTANDING. Thanks for putting in this much effort.
I think the great design skipped the headphones, they look cheap and tacky, not a $1000 pair of headphones, like something off of Temu. I’m amazed they made it to market. I can see people in Asia liking them as they wore face masks habitually a long time before the rest of the world…
Dyson is an expert at constantly trying to figurately reinvent the wheel.....for a premium price. At least you can go around looking like the newest up and coming EDM DJ. BTW, their Dyson 360 Eye/Huerist robot vacuums were also a definite miss.
I think the active filtering idea is good but they should have gone with a dedicated mask instead of mixing it with headphones. Something that actually quells bad smells with a proper seal would be neat.
@jordanrodrigues1279 tells of that "expert" Marques has brought, right? The one telling us that blowing purified air in your face is something unheard of, and not some industry best practice.
Fun fact: I have an email reply from Dyson when I suggested adding a dust filter to their fans shortly after their first release, they said they are not into air filters. Oh how times have changed.
Ergonomic portable electromechanical respirators have been on the market for 10 years now. I have a ClanSpace HALO for work and it does everything this thing was supposed to do, uses HEPA filters and is medical grade. It also costs upwards to 2k tho. Dyson merely plagiarized them, while removing the most important features to bring down the price.
As a person who sleeps with a CPAP machine, if I were commuting by train for several hours a day, I would want a version of this product that would create a seal, warm the air, and have a moisture reservoir to ensure my nose doesn't dry out. Basically a product that's a portable CPAP machine with noise-cancelling headphones, would be perfect for sleeping on a long-distance train/bus/coach/plane.
Well i've got great news for you, there's a whole lot of travel CPAP machines available under 1100€ (price of this product) and guess waht, you just need to put headphones on and voilà le tour est joué.
I;ve got sleep apnoea & a cpap machine, the whole point of that is it provides high air pressure that keeps your throat open whilst asleep, while you're awake you don't have apnoeas so pointless wearing a cpap mask. Even if you wear these headphones whilst sleeping (which given their huge size and weight, seems an impossibility), there's nowhere near enough pressure nor sealing to keep your airways open. Given the rigouress testing any medical device has to undergo, I reckon Dyson himself would advise you not to even consider doing that.
Glad we were able to team up on this one 😂 Well done sir!
ok
W Mike
Oh, hey, you're that guy from the RUclipss (who I don't follow because a little too zany but have learned several things from here and there) 👍
Nice theory about masks, unfortunately in real RCTs even in trained individuals they offer no significant protection against viruses.
im very much looking for your perspective on a product like this from a vacuums cleaner company, this seems silly.
If Dyson wants a challenge, they should create a silent leaf blower.
@nolga3569 auto pile feature
best product to be made.
Windless fan next
excellent idea. or a leaf VACUUM (which mulches them up and deposits them into a bag)!
Not hard to make.
'no one cared about who i was until i put on the mask'
"Hello, Marques. I want to play a game..."
🤣😂🤣😂
@evanflow7 which one? Lethal Company?
🤣
It's like the mr potato head "Optimus prime" item!
Props to the person/team in Dyson that was able to present and convince the company board to make this product. The real MVP.
Well it was a nepo baby product. The son off Dyson made these
@rns01111 Wow Jake Dyson is also responsible for the Csys lamp series. The guy has an amazingly poor track record.
😂😂😂😂
This is what happens when you got no talent but got a rich daddy. :)
agreed. the only person employable; the sales guy for this

"BEHIND YOU STANDS THE SYMBOL OF OPPRESSION..."
"GOTHOM TAKE CONTROL OF YOUR CITY"
cringe
@ahabduennschitz7670 your reply is cringe…
maybe it would have been a better product if it had included a voice changer system: sound like 'Darth Vader'/'Bane'/'Peewee Herman' etc.
@idonthaveagoddamnname2623 Ironically... So is yours.
@J.Dodgson.Unethical and yours in turn
If the fans cooled my ears, I'd be enticed.
Wait till you find out about air and wind
@TimmyK916 I think he means while wearing the headphones because they cover your ears and honestly make your ears warm after a while
Seems like an easy enough mod. You can see light through the ear cup, all you would have to do is block the vent hole, perforate the chamber between the fans and the earcups and remove the filters for extra airflow. Filter not needed cause ears don't breathe.
Keep that idea to yourself, you could easily become a billionaire
@marianovidalmelendez1215 I just patented this!
I have grudging respect for the person who decided to take noise cancelling headphones and attach tiny white noise machines to them
I've got minor tinnitus, and that actually sounds pretty sick
Beep bop... I'm the Philosophy Bot. Here, have a quote:
"Whosoever is delighted in solitude is either a wild beast or a god"
~ Aristotle
The zone does have a positive effect on my tinnitus even when I'm not playing any audio through the headphones.
Bose QC earbuds play white noise in noise canceling mode
15:57 Looks like Clippy
Looks like a torture device from the movie Saw
Reverse beartrap yeah?
Saw 2077
For a product that seems to have a ton of work and effort put into it, this is the exact definition of “we were so focused on if we can do this and forgot to ask if we should do this”
Honestly I see that with most of Dyson products since the stick vacs
The crazy part is that some of their prototypes look a whole lot less "dyson", but could easily find a market in the cosplay and "cyber punk" crowd.
The sleek, Dyson-brand design aesthetic kinda ruins this concept by itself in an odd way.
Why Dyson. Why.
I feel like that is the whole mantra of Dyson
@illusivedestroyer909 Okay Jurassic Park
If they put a "Bane" mode in it, I would buy it
Fr gimme a voice filter and I’m sold
Imagine they add a built in voice filter so you can sound like Bane or Vader or Optimus Prime…
@notBrennan19 I guess one can try to 3d print it, I mean the front mouth cover and then cut out straps from an old bag or backpack.
@1Max-Man Vader might not work, vader might work only with a full mask. Personally, I liked Bane more. Was hooked when I first saw it.
Dyson had a highly skilled tech team that needed something to do.
Fr😂
Literally
They were cashing in on covid.
Book: bullshit jobs
They are trying to normalize this bs for their NWO fascsm
Me regularly: “that’s dumb”
Me during allergy season: “hmm….. well”
Lol
So ready for a Dyson-Escobar collab right now.
ball gag microphone!11!!!11!
E
Headphones that deliver... "products" directly to your nose?
The real collab Dyson needs is with Pornhub
hi
Applause for you having the courage to not only wear these in public, but to test them in a Porta-potty.
He was gonna say that He walked into a public Porta Jhon to see if he can....smell something 💩 LOL
I starting crying!😭😭😭
That segment with Mike really goes to show why big companies need consultants in multiple fields
And why politicians have no right to dictate any medical procedures
Doctors aren't qualified to talk about masks sadly. Look into Industrial Hygienists then see what the real info on N95s etc is...
@Datadog-1 yeah you nailed it on the head
just wait till something comes out that attaches to your shirt and uses AI
still can't believe this product is real
Nice
Good
Nice
Hii
👍👍👍👍👍
My boy turned a product review into a business lesson😂 well played
And a med consult in between
Why would Dyson make this?
Because in one video they got MKBHD to endorse their Vacuum, their hair dryer, and their fan.
That’s why
Exactly my thoughts 😂
see when you put it that way....
Fr lowkey now i wanna but the fan and the vacuum lol
convoluted, but probably correct
And they charged him 1000 to do so
18:00 and the loss leader idea worked wonders. 10 Million views and now I know the Dyson company lol
Vision Pro with these PLEASE. full immersion 😂😂
Yes, cyberpunk af
I thoug it was something to smell different odors to have full vr immersion and such. I'd add that I'd like to be able to taste a movie as much as smell it. Perhaps food could be subtitute to smell and we'd be able to taste things like it's suppose to be smelling.
Haha, what a ridiculous look!
@lavague1186 what about a bathroom scene?
All I can see in my head is Daft Punk
I am all about you reviewing dumb things! The dumber the item the more professional the review. So much fun.
You stepping out of that bathroom was probably the first time I've laughed out loud at a tech review.
I was laughing too😂
Sheesh. Even with your spoiler, that scene still funny 🤣🤣🤣
I lost it laughing so hard 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 what we put MKBHD through. That should be on a t-shirt
Awkward
Yeah I second hand smelled that video at that moment
Notice how this video didn't bankrupt the Dyson company
Dyson literally today announced 1000 jobs being axed in the UK.
@ZestyLimeStudios Huge companies always do layoffs.
@commonsense3921 Esp. once they move all their manufacturing to the far east, yeah.
I feel a whole series of medical tech being reviewed by Marques and Mike debunking them. I would love that!
For real, both of them are the highest standard RUclipsr in their field
I was like YEAH! Then I went it his page and I heard Hassan Minhaj in my ear whispering “D.Ooooooo. D.Oooo”
@MKBHD consider this
Omg yes please!!
Looks like a hip idea from Mr. Dyson Jr.
Calling Dyson a "weird" company as opposed to unconventional, bold, or daring, was hilarious
By definition, "unconventional, bold, or daring" is called "weird"
I ain't got no respect for Dyson. They make overpriced products, and Mr Dyson himself is a Brexit scam artist.
@GrimstrokeMainr Also a patent troll.
@GrimstrokeMainr Supporting Brexit has nothing to do with this whatsoever
@billylardner 1000 bucks you’d make it a huge deal if he was a communist.
I feel like Dyson is missing out on how well this would work in a motorcycle helmet.
no
wouldn't that be super nice to have while in a tunnel?
I'm sorry but I personally love the factory smell that a Shoei helmet has, don't take that away from me
Assuming you want to die on your bike.
Don't forget that these are earphones! I'm sure anyone on the road would appreciate someone who's not even hearing anything around him while driving!
Jet Set Radio lookin ah headphones
You deserve 100/100 for the effort of testing this one in public places. Hilarious 😂😂😂😂😂
I was thinking the same thing!
There’s a reason Marques stays a legend on YT lol. Dude is always dedicated!
I left a like just for that reason
@ZelphTheWebmancer 🙂
it was one of the bravest things i've ever seen.
This is quintessential MKBHD. This is everything the channel stands for. Unbiased review of interesting curios. No matter how good or ridiculous...you will always get the good, bad and the ugly part of the product with extrordinary production value.
Take a bow!
Bopt commen. He is a product reviewer!!!
nice commentary Mr. Hrishikesh Rao, cheers
This wasn'tjust a video, this was a mini documentary. Hats off to him for putting in so much work into his vids.
You just said it’s a mini documentary, but then you said “vids”.
@Max Pro his videos feel like mini documentaries ig
@maxpro751 he also said it wasn’t JUST a video. Read before you critique
@tiachante I did read it, I know what he said. I’m just wondering why he said “Hats off to him for putting in so much work into his vids” when he said his videos were a mini documentary. How about you read before criticizing someone.
@lonleybeer That’s not what the person said though.
It's cool that Dyson is trying out lots of things. More companies should do it.
It always amazes me seeing just how hard it can be to manufacture a product even when you know tons of people will buy it, and yet weird niche stuff gets made all the time like it’s no big deal.
I think build at scale is the challenge
It's because Dyson is a billion dollar company so they have enough funds to try niche things
Dyson is just a wack company lmao
@sabersz Ya Dyson does some odd things at times
A niche product assumes there's a very specific group of people that need it. I think Dyson was just drunk at some party and bet he could do it. I mean the guy is really smart and this product doesn't make a lot of sense. Maybe he's doing it for the same reason of Elon Musk with his flamethrower and other weird products.
He's not the tester we deserve, he's the tester we need.
We deserve Marques, He's the best.
You implying we deserve the best? Lol
@Washingtonium We don't?
You got the batman quote backwards
@aaden1785 I do understand it. it's just the people are overusing it on everything.
Marques is the kind of YT reviewer that actually calls in an actual doctor to check out a product. A+ man xD
I think its gonna become like pawn stars where they call different experts every time as MKBHD ventures into different fields….
@tanishqvashistha2410 that'd be awesome actually! 😂👍
The kind of RUclipsr that sell Walmart alike shoes for 3/4 times overpriced?
@fantasytky28 lol wutt? 👀
The "Die Son!" 800!...with ANC! 😂
This was 100% an engineering challenge for minimising the vacuum and filters, experimenting with speaker drivers, and afterwards they thought “sod it, let’s give it a go on the store”.
Wrong
@libertysoundAU how do you know?
It still is a bit goofy 😂
@killemusen It’s what we call a “new product category” in the industry it can take ten years but by that time the product is refined and in use by many people
@libertysoundAUI'm sorry but there is no way this is going to be a new wildly used product category.
What I love is that Dyson job was served MKBHD just advertised their vacuum cleaner, blade less fan and hair dryer all in one video multiple times and mentioned how much he likes them.
IKR hes got me considering a dyson vaccum (im 17 and still live with my dad)
I inherited a Dyson Vacuum from my daughters late mother in law and I'm so impressed with it, the hype is real.
right, they make these weird products to attract influencers, websites and youtubers to talk about it so free marketing
@lajeandom my thoughts exactly. I have no doubt in my mind that the dyson car is just a showpiece so a real car manufacturer will ask to collaborate. then you get free product sales of the motors you already make without the hassle of selling and distributing a car
reminds me of some of the avatar cosmetics in WH40K Darktide
I can totally seeing something like this coming out for VR headsets in the future for smelling scents in VR
I'm pretty sure that technology will never exist. Scent isn't just created out of nothing. Sorry.
i think ive seen protoypes of that already. bassically they mix chemicals to create the smell
@rafi21 sounds dangerous
@aw-ng4rm Beware the spooky "chemicals" 👻
gross
The fact that the battery goes from 50 hours to 2 the moment you turn the filter on is craaaazy ☠️
Moving parts
Law of conservation of energy
@392redienhcs headphones also have moving parts
@addium3151 Dubious. Technically a speaker has a moving membrane, but when thinking of engineering, no one really thinks of speakers as a moving part because they are exceptions in terms of the 2 relevant things. 1. power consumption, and 2. failure rate
@addium3151 not at all in the same way. Starting up a fan uses a lot of energy, and I assume these are constantly having to push the motors to keep the fans going.
Props to you for actually reviewing it. The fact that you uploaded the video means the mask didn't suffocate you at least 😂😂😂
Agreed
It looks like BDSM gear 😂
@sharedknowledge6640 this was a mockup
Bro looked so unhappy from the moment he opened the box
Was not expecting a Doctor Mike colab, but I’m all for it.
Lmao, I still can't believe this product is real.
niye be gülüm?
I had to check if it was April. What a waste of money and time.
@Hayripotur its just too dumb
es real mi hermano
Hi walter white
Did not expect to learn about Brownian motion of covid particles and loss leader marketing strategy in a tech video. This was hilariously entertaining and informative. I do like the idea of joystick controls on the ear cup.
I honestly respect them for coming out with something insane like this
That V-Sauce music. Nice! 😂 17:30
I don’t agree. And I’ve seen plenty of reviews praising it.
So you guys waste all resources on something totally useless !
@TELEVISIBLE well James is rich, and we were still getting paid.
@TELEVISIBLE what a myopic view on the whole Research and Development process - although this product should probably have been killed before deciding to go to market
I suppose the Malaysia and China customer base would have a need for this product. Id rather wear this thing than breath their air, regardless of possible medical side effects.
One day I’ll have to tell my kids “i was around when dyson used to sell vacuums only….” 😂
Ha.
"...all this moments will be lost, like tears in the rain"
@PobortzaPl After viewing this video: "“I've seen things you people wouldn't believe."
If this product is indicative of the companies future, then I predict your future kids won't know anything about the company as it won't be in existence.
@mountainmover777 Alright, I'll screenshot this and the url and hold ya to it.
Gives me flashbacks for the original Saw movie
If they want to impress me, they should make a Dyson sphere.
They have a Dyson ball vacuum but no Dyson sphere
Can you imagine the price of that, not just the cost of manufacture but the markup Dyson will put on it
What he meant by Dyson sphere is different guys. That’s a fictional concept where they cover the full sun with solar panels to get the maximum energy from it.
@deshwanhorne76No no I knew that but thanks
@deshwanhorne76we know
10:49 “the battery life goes from 50 hours to two hours” that is without a doubt one of the funniest lines on this channel
Love to see Dr.Mike appear in the tech world out of nowhere. 💪
random but a collab I 100% support
He's sooooo enchanting
the AP he's rocking looks lovely too
Not.
@sivab4536 literally first thing i noticed haha. Wanna see Mike do a podcast with some of the watch RUclipsrs. 👀
This could keep certain people from talking during the movies. 😂
Dyson should make this into a motorbike helmet, like the fresh air could also be used for the fact that sometimes the visor gets foggy and also you could just straight up have the headphones to communicate better since your ears are in a housing not a confined space of cussioning.
thats… not a bad idea actually
Brilliant 👌🏾
delete and go pitch
This is unironically a great idea, they are truly stupid if they dont figure this out
Well as an Update.
@mikesmithz yea, their headphones are * chefs kiss* 🤌
Does Dyson win records for how fast their vacuum cleaners break?
Dude created on average 2.8 prototypes PER DAY for 5 years
This was a very fun video to watch. Also I really appreciate you called an expert to explain the product from medical point of view. Great video as always.
It looks like the reverse bear trap from saw
From an engineering perspective, it's pretty amazing to create a motorised air-purifier system that fits on your head, even if it is completely unnecessary.
They are super common in the wood and metalworking world. They just don’t attach to your headphones.
@user-sk4nt5bm5rexactly
@emilmierza741 compared to these, those ones that sit on your back are big and chunky
it's just 2 tiny fans and 2 layer of filters with some vents running aroung on your ears. I honestly dont see anything impressive. The idea though, is wild.
Lmfaoo fair enough 😅
No lie, this would've been the most popular products in the late 90s and early 00s internet cafes. The smoke in there, wow, I'll never forget how the AC/smoke smelled like.
tbh it also would have fit super well as a fashion statement, hah. Just needs more hot pink and blue and yellow accents for the real 90s vibe
The earcushions would smell like smoke forever though 😂
It's still like that in some countries! "Not giving waitstaff lung cancer" has been slow to catch on here in Japan for example.
It doesn't stop gasses or smell tho
Thinking like this is how they dropped the ball with this one. Only someone at Dyson thought this would be a good idea for this current time frame as well.
I'd buy them if they had noise cancelation for private talking.
Why the hell would you even need that
@kuroshite Fr
@kuroshite Unlike us indians, ppl generally value privacy.
@kuroshite So that he can have a.... private talk...
Cone of Silence Mode
Today announced they discontinued this product.
They also did a washing machine, well in the UK at least. Instead of one drum rotating, it was split in half which went in opposite directions. In principal, it would wash much better but in practice, components failed constantly and it chewed clothes. Definitely a miss!
I hope the washig machine had at least a nice carrying bag and extra two colored coiled cables and filtered the air while washing.
17:22 V SAUCE here.... 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I used to work at Dyson and honestly all of us in the non engineering departments thought it was a joke, yet another random thing the engineers work on that gets canned after years of development and £££££ - but here we are!
The engineers probably thought it was a joke too but hey they're getting paid what do they care
ok
What other things got shelved?
it's all horsesh** and Dyson is a mega c&&t
Dyson is a joke. It's just a marketing and very expensive price which makes people think it's the best. It's not. 😂
Like how he answered the covid question without answering the covid questions. 😂
Thanks for taking one for the team. When you did the porta-potty test, my respect for you sky rocketed. I do like the joystick idea for music control though.
it's thankfully, slowly becoming the standard
@GloomGaiGar He really did didn't he.
@GloomGaiGar good to hear
I love it 🙌
If I was a Dyson Marketing Employee, I would be crying right now. This is content-cop levels of dissection and destruction 🔥
The employees from designer to marketer knew, but they aren't paid to stop the boss's annual pet project.
If I was a Dyson marketing employee, I would be crying right now. From joy. Because this is so much free advertisement
That was their intentions all along...
Now I just need the eventual Dankpods video ripping on these.
For a grand my head better be vibrating like a car with misaligned wheels.
I do hope that one good thing comes out of this - other headphone manufacturers should implement the joystick for control and the live readout of noise.
Don't you know the live readout already because toure experiencing it lol
The Marshall Major IV has a joystick. Got it a couple weeks ago and so far, I’m super happy with it! Also way cheaper than the Dyson one lol
You know a reviewer is a professional when he roasts the product he reviews but is also impressed by many things about it, like the packaging and the app monitoring the audio levels.
Non-biased, truly good reviewer. Was so fun to watch!
Yeah that's a pretty common statement.
@orphanoforbit7588 yep. I just really enjoyed it.
you know the reviewer isn't professional when he doesn't even tries to inform himself about air filtration (positive pressure etc.) or tries the most obvious use like for pollen allergies.
This was surprisingly entertaining for such an odd product :D Thank you for taking it upon yourself to get one and inform us.
ok
its like a chastity belt, but for your face.
This is an old video by now, but I had to come back and rewatch cause this is hilarious
9:47 is me when my social battery runs out and I gotta take a breather to recuperate.
I wasn't expecting a Dr. Mike collab and am happy to see it.
Very cool to have a science lesson in the video!
The Marques shots "in the field" were absolutely hilarious. And the Dr. Mike insight was really fascinating. Great review!
Daft Bane there, walking around discovering your precious armories and making the latest song of the summer.
This comment is so well structured 🤭😂
You are so fun and smart
And also round, apparently
Have fun getting chapped lips all the time
huh?@GuntWastelander
@GuntWastelander?
Integrating air filtration into motorbike helmets without creating a perfect seal would prove flawed. If the filtration system cannot prevent pollutants from entering the helmet it will not provide the intended benefits in terms of improving air quality for the rider.
A noise cancelling headphone while driving a motorbike????
This actually could be really effective as a loss leader strategy, because now if they released $400-500 headphones with these features minus the respirator, and put their engineering talent towards high quality audio, I’d be interested to check them out, whereas before, I wouldn’t even consider looking at them.
Yeah loss leader strategy is fascinating
In terms of opinion of "stuff will still getting in " at 10:36, as a ventilation engineer, I don't quite agree as air pressure from the mouth device will pressure out most of external "bad air" and the noses can still breath normally to exhaust CO2. So technically, no bad air will getting in unless you are at an extreme dusty environment then a level of dust mask will be require in this case
Bro, the way you explain background of the company first to enable your viewers to get all the context is just SMART & OUTSTANDING. Thanks for putting in this much effort.
zip up his pants when you’re done
ikr
Came back to say now that we have the smoke from the wild fires, maybe Dyson wasn’t pranking us but rather seeing the future 😂
Bet they’re sold put now too lol
As soon as this video started I was thinking... This would be great for New Yorkers right now lmao
Still likely not as good as an n95 but I could be wrong
The Verge tested it and it doesn't work for the wildfire smoke
A 2$ N95 mask is better in every way and most importantly, you don't look ridiculous with one on.
0:25 "I was born in the darkness..."
Can’t believe dyson made a reverse beartrap
Dyson are just the Apple of motors & filtration. Great engineering, great design and people that are prepared to pay through the nose for it.
I think the great design skipped the headphones, they look cheap and tacky, not a $1000 pair of headphones, like something off of Temu. I’m amazed they made it to market. I can see people in Asia liking them as they wore face masks habitually a long time before the rest of the world…
16:00 - That looks like a super creepy smile!
I learned so much from this episode about like nine topics, not just the headphones. This was an incredible review.
They made an official reverse bear trap?
Dyson is an expert at constantly trying to figurately reinvent the wheel.....for a premium price. At least you can go around looking like the newest up and coming EDM DJ. BTW, their Dyson 360 Eye/Huerist robot vacuums were also a definite miss.
Thank you so much for bringing that doctor onto the video. The way he hammered it home is excellent. Absolute genius.
While casually rocking a $50k Royal Oak
@bogradthat's what i'm saying
@bograd a royal oak chronograph, absolute beast
I like when you offer your thoughts on the technology way beyond specs and performance. Great video.
Bro walks around like an MHA Character
Honestly I would not have watched anyone else review this. You just nailed it. :)
samedt. so dyson got mkbhd and mkbhd got us 🤣
I think the active filtering idea is good but they should have gone with a dedicated mask instead of mixing it with headphones. Something that actually quells bad smells with a proper seal would be neat.
And if they went for a cyberpunk look it probably would have sold well too
Ah, the dystopian (dys-on? 🤨) future is nearing upon us. I love it
But that exists, it's called a powered air purifying respirator. You can get a reasonable full face one for about a thousand bucks.
the razer mask was almost like that... the idea for it was at least better than whatever dyson tried to do
@jordanrodrigues1279 tells of that "expert" Marques has brought, right? The one telling us that blowing purified air in your face is something unheard of, and not some industry best practice.
Fun fact: I have an email reply from Dyson when I suggested adding a dust filter to their fans shortly after their first release, they said they are not into air filters. Oh how times have changed.
Can u sue... they always steal ideas
ok
@TW6Naija no. he didn’t invent and patent filters
This has potential if they fix the mouth piece
As a person who sleeps with a CPAP machine, if I were commuting by train for several hours a day, I would want a version of this product that would create a seal, warm the air, and have a moisture reservoir to ensure my nose doesn't dry out. Basically a product that's a portable CPAP machine with noise-cancelling headphones, would be perfect for sleeping on a long-distance train/bus/coach/plane.
It would be amazing - even better if they could get rid of the Darth Vader sounds a bit 😂
Well i've got great news for you, there's a whole lot of travel CPAP machines available under 1100€ (price of this product) and guess waht, you just need to put headphones on and voilà le tour est joué.
@Elleffethe Darth Vader sounds are probably going to be a selling point for some buyers😂
Given the rigouress testing any medical device has to undergo, I reckon Dyson himself would advise you not to even consider doing that.
ok
