Playing the Shadow gens portion of the game made me feel like I was playing SA2 again. 20 YEARS and FINALLY I have a Sonic game I want to replay over and over again
Ikr? The boost now becomes something you could use to move faster while still maintaining full control like in the Adventure games. This is what makes it better than SA2 in my opinion
Seaside Hill is REALLY underrated here. The depth of the 3D level design and all the branching paths is just phenomenal, possible even the best 3D Sonic has ever been on that regard. And it even splits into sections for Ocean Palace references as well. Sublime stage, it will absolutely grow on you the more thoroughly you play it and I think it 100% deserves to be on par with Sky Sanctuary, top three slam dunk. (I haven't played the Shadow Gens levels, yet.)
Agreed 100%. Seaside Hill is a Prime Example how a 3D Sonic Level should be made. Not only has multiple branching paths but each and everyone of them has a CONTEXT within the estructure. They are not just floating platforms or rails, but part of the scenery. You could jump off the main path and venture running on water, take a detour through a cliff before the vehicle section, or even platform on top of the back of Giant Turtles. Level Design like this haven't been done ever since Generations.
@@Fabricio37500Idk about SA2 fans but unleashed fans are the fallout new vegas fans of sonic. They have to mention how they think unleashed is #1 EVERY TIME. I think every shadow generations level over shadows all of the sonic levels. Don't get me wrong. The sonic game was great and even challenging in a good way for some stages, but some of the outdated mechanics that didn't get fixed in the remaster didn't do the game justice. I'll admit the levels are great and cool and bring back so much great nostalgia like the sound track to the sonic unleash and heros level, but shadow generations as a whole is a far better game and plays way better.
I felt that way at first too, it especially sucks that sonic doesn’t have a double jump like shadow, but after replaying the full sonic generations side, I got past it and enjoyed the hell out of it
Weirdly I felt the other way around, i think sonics playstyle makes him feel more powerful and faster, the drifting and the fact he feels a little out of control really works in favour of the game in my opinion. Only issue with it is the levels matter more, for example I think planet wisp would be more fun as shadow, but rooftop run wouldn't be more fun as him. I dunno, I think both have their merits
Planet wisp really is a good point of comparison, despite all the shadow levels lasting the same you never feel like it's taking too long, you just flow with the level

There could be a whole a$$ game made just from that level alone, and I would be happy. Act 1 was kinda horrible though from what I remember
I actually despise the classic sonic levels the physics do not work well at all. Most sections of the levels are ridiculously slow and once you decide to spin dash you go at rocket speeds that are too fast to handle. Honestly ruined sky sanctuary for me.
I CANNOT STAND crisis city. Maybe i just suck at it, and it has no nostalgia to me, because I never played Sonic 06 for more than 30 minutes. (I bought it... Then went back and sold it back to the store within an hour lol). But that level feels super jank to me. Generations' City escape is really overrated, in my opinion. It has the lowest skill ceiling of any modern level in the game because of the snowboard as well as the giant quick-step section at the end. The 2D section is alright, but not enough to make the stage great.
yeah, it's so fucking overrated. there are so many better levels (it's not bad tho)
If i were to rank mine i would make it
16 PlantWisp Act 2
15 City Escape Act 2
14 Crisis City Act 2
13 Sunset Heights Act 1
12 Chemical Plant Act 2
11 Rooftop Run Act 2
10 Rail Canyon Act 1
9 Green Hill Act 2
8 Space Colony Ark Act 1
7 Radical Highway Act 1
6 Radical Highway Act 2
5 Sky Sanctuary Act 2
4 Speed Highway Act 2
3 Seaside Hill Act 2
2 Kingdom Valleg Act 1
1 Chaos Island Act 1
Sega absolutely cooked
Cool video
Why did you have to add sonic is useless on the thumbnail 😭😭
3:46 this are called Orca, also known as the killer whales.
just played rooftop run. First thing I thought to myself is that it can't get better than this in terms of the sonic portion of the game. Guess it seems I was right. There could be a whole a$$ game made just from that level alone, and I would be happy. Act 1 was kinda horrible though from what I remember
Planet wisp is great, especially act 1
I actually despise the classic sonic levels the physics do not work well at all. Most sections of the levels are ridiculously slow and once you decide to spin dash you go at rocket speeds that are too fast to handle. Honestly ruined sky sanctuary for me.
I CANNOT STAND crisis city. Maybe i just suck at it, and it has no nostalgia to me, because I never played Sonic 06 for more than 30 minutes. (I bought it... Then went back and sold it back to the store within an hour lol).
But that level feels super jank to me. I'm always shooting off into some bottomless pit, or not locking onto an enemy, or boosting in some way that just makes me drop off of a wall or something. Lol
I hate that stage. I'll try and get good, but it doesn't feel good to me even as I get better at the game. It took me a second to adjust to generations (I didn't play it back in the day, and my favorite 3D is SA2), but that stage just feels so bad to me lol
I think it looks cool though lol
Now do 2d
Sonic Generations useless? You're not a real gamer
Do a 2d video Jeremy
it the biggest selection of stages...except for sonic unleashed with 50+
Kingdom Valley #1 for me
PLANET WISP IS PAINN
Sky sanctuary glazer, that sht is easily the worst stage after planet wisp
Who else just skips to the end of any “Ranked” video to see the results?
Do 3ds and 2d
Yeah 2d
crisys city is the worst to me
feel like the worst level design of all of them
the game is overpriced. why should i pay for a 1/3 of game.
I agree with the original version. The shadow campaign makes it a complete game to me though and they’re selling it at a discount.
City escape in sa2 is so boring, it's not a good level
*useless*
to me, sunset heights is the worst level in sonic x shadow gens, cuz its the same short level from forces but the 2d section its replaced for a hallway.
???????? The stages are pretty damn different wdym? It definitely is a bit more on the straight forward side compared to the rest of shadows stages but I think saying it’s the same level is crazy
Terrible takes
