I just started playing last month, it has been my most played multiplayer shooter ever since, still diggin it in 2013! Would love a sequel bring on Homefront 2!!
@xmrassasin If you buy the game used then you don't get that little pass code. That pass code lets you go to the max. If you dont have it your capped at 5.
@okitroid Thats why I am really excited for RAGE and hopefully Crysis 2's campaign will be as long as the first which was around 10 hours. Couldn't agree with you more about developers sinking all their time in multiplayer and basically throw a single player campaign out the window.
I have to admit that the Singleplayer wasn't as good as I thought (that doesn't mean it's not good at all) but the multiplayer is pretty amazing. Btw: the developer (KAOS Studios) also created Battlefield 2 and 2142. I play on PC so I can't talk for the console versions but I recommend everyone who doesn't want to play CoD or BF3 with those kiddies and hackers anymore, buy this game and let the multiplayer get strong again. It's worth the (little) money!
@TheTemplar117 Um, is it sort of blurry, as if it was scaled or something? If so, you should try to make your TV play in native resolution. Cheers! =DDD
I did I got it with the THQ bundle and before buying it have never heard of Homefront but now its currently one of my top 10 favorite games on my account and I have over a 100 steam games. I will definately preorder Homefront 2 when it comes out this year....if they don't push the release date back like with most games these days.
Finally a theme that actually depicts the horrors of war. I genuinely felt sad when the little kid's parents were killed and the last words of the mother that preceded it.
What I don't understand is why the developers didn't include support for multiplayer with bots. The multiplayer mode looks so fun, to bad the servers are gone..
The Game Collector i remember playing the beta and regret everytime i think that i didnt buy this game when it came out. i had a blast playing the multiplayer, more so than any bf or cod at that time...
even though it was short i enjoyed the story of homefront better than any fps in recent memory, it was actually emotionally engaging rather than just a bunch of overly butch dudes blowing shit up, i hope whoever picks the sequel up keeps an engaging story
I swear that when I watched that scene at 2:20, I could hear the emperor's voice in my head, saying; "Give in to your anger." And not only that, but I could feel my hand tensing up on the controller. Speaking of that scene, why are there people leaving heartless comments about it?! That scene is supposed to trigger an emotional response!
@deluke3 crysis 2..what the reviewer doesnt say is the crazy amount of server issues this game has.. check the homefront forums to further show my point
the plot of this game is actually believable (unlike some other fps campaigns out there) seeing as fuel sources are becomming more scarce (you can tell by price rises)
@Btroopz they are 1 continues on and you still play as the main character and one takes place in hawaii were you play a SAS officer and there is a sequel thats suppose to be in london or it maybe DLC but you wont be sad anymore :D
So i justn got this game for xmas and i still havent opened it deciding wheter to return it and get somethin else like MW3 or battlefield 3 or jus keep it, wat shud i do?
And also, I notice tons of similarities between Homefront and Call of Duty. First of all, in multiplayer your feats are shown in green text above the crosshairs, the radar is in the same place and has the same look, and the sprint animations look suspiciously similar. This almost looks like a mod.
@PeterEhik You can't compare pain, everyone has a different experience and threshold. It depends on who you are and your situation. You can't judge others for being "weak".
@fol900 It's supposed to make you feel that way. I thought that was an excellent addition to help immerse the player emotionally. I started feeling sad when I saw that part too.
I bought this game a few days ago. I'm a COD guy and I love this game. But single player is too short so if you're thinking about buying this game just for SP, be prepared to waste 40 something dollars for just about 5 hrs of gameplay. I tried the MP and it is fun to play but there are a lot of glitches. I can only see a few servers available though and last night, there was only 1 server available and I couldn't even spawn. What's the deal? Am I doing something wrong?
Gamespot always does better reviews then IGN, nice job. Homefront is decent for a first release / new IP, it does well. The movement is like Call of duty, the gameplay is different enough to keep you attached for awhile. It only gets better from here.
@wolf35553 No, it has the best backstory. I absolutely fell in love with the story. I thought that it would be awesome to play in this world that the developers had created. I followed the story when they posted the timeline on the website and was really looking forward to it. But the thing was was that the game just lacked the same realistic humanizing aspect that the original story did. You needed to know the story to like the game, and even then it was hard.
i havent bought this game yet, but the campaign looks extremely believable. honestly if i played the game then i'd actually pay attention to cutscenes and scenery, unlike games like call of duty with predictable cliffhangers and twists that make no sense. this game's campaign id actually consider as a well crafted narrative.
I played this infront of my parents ((my dad wanted to see how good the story is)), hit them hard at the beginning, especially with the child scene. My mom stopped watching after having enough of the depressing scene, and my dad and I took turns playing through. He loved the game, I love the game, and if I don't feel like playing Black Ops with my friends, I just hop on this game's multiplayer.
Now THIS was a well done review. I am a little disappointed they only gave it a 7 out of 10, but unlike the drudge that is IGN's review, it makes a 7 sound good, since it is, instead of like shit.
@melvinman11 I love black ops, but at this point, you're far late so just get KZ3 and homefront. If you can only get one do heads or tails with a quarter lol because they're both really good.
The first mission on homefront was disturbing but after that, I felt Homefront failed to keep with that dark setting. And instead 1 person has to kill all enemies when his teamates just swear at the koreans. I bought this game, and did not know it was preowned, so I had to buy a battle code for £7, which now looking back was a waste. I like this game, but the ending, which was meant to be dramatic, felt dry, and unrealistic. What are your opinions of Homefront?
@preethamable it's about 5-8 hours.............it worth renting.........the experience in this game was never seen in another game.....this was the first game that made me feel bad when i see someone dies.......it portrays war in a new and original way !!! if u can't rent it......Then BUY IT !!!
After finishing the review for the game, I honestly expected the final verdict to be like an 8.5, but I went to gamespot's site and it only got a 7! I'm starting to get the feeling that gamespot is just starting to copy IGN's score, because this isn't the first time it happens! IGN always posts a review, and the next day gamespot posts there with either the same or similar review even though real people know it deserves more!
I never said mw3 is a revolutionary game, but it does what the series is known for and it does it well. Both homefront and mw3 are average shooters but id rather play a cod game than a cod clone anyday.
@UH60Austin that depends what you like, Crysis 2 is something like Halo and maybe Killzone, Homefront is like the reproduction of Battlefield and CoD on steroids, but there are things on homefront that Crysis doesn't have, same thing reversed. In my opinion I recommend getting Homefront first and later getting Crysis 2, you will be entertained until the Crysis release date with Homefront, you will be getting your money's worth with Homefront and don't worry, Crysis 2 will be worth the wait :)
Note to developers: Turn ON v-synch, dammit! If the game doesn't have it by default, at least give players the option for the player to turn it on, even at the expense of a few frame drops. It REALLY takes me out of the game when I'm staring at the screen and all of a sudden, it splits in two.
picked this up yesterday for 8 bucks[used] @ Gamestop, along with "Bulletstorm"[also 8 bucks] and have to say it is a VERY strong title all the way around, while it may not be a "COD" or "BF" killer,it most definitely is much more emotional & will tug @ your heart strings, and really makes you want to kick ass and get revenge, also it is awesome to finally see a title that does not glorify War,but shows you just how utterly disgusting & inhuman War truly is,very solid game @ a gr8 price~
to be a amazing game this needs a longer story, better graphics, slightly better gameplay. The idea for the story makes me really want to get this game, but all the negative aspects are making it really hard to justify parting with 50 bucks. I'll probably wait till it drops in price.
'You get your money's worth' if you play MP which I don't so I'll do the same thing I do with all FPS' and rent them. Side Note - MW2 was 5 hours long and I don't remember everyone mentioning it at the time but well it was a few years ago :D
I like gamespots reviews very in depth and straight to the point and the don't put a label on it with a number basically its like here is the game either you like it or you dont this is what we thought about it so yeah........
i like the look of this game but ill prob only play it for the beta, and do any of u guys know is bulletstorm any good. i hear the campaign is good but that is all u can really do.
2:20 both parents get killed.
Thus that kid grew up and became BATMAN!
Spider-Man
That moment where both the parents were shot sent chills down my spine.
Man, that scene had me jaw dropped feeling bad for the kid
This was supposed to be Red Dawn.
picked it up for little over $4 used today on Xbox 360. kind old but the guy at game-stop said way better then the new one and plays great
@Guernicaman I barely notice screen tearing from having v sync off and no it doesn't save a few frames. It saves a lot of frames. Get used to it.
I just started playing last month, it has been my most played multiplayer shooter ever since, still diggin it in 2013! Would love a sequel bring on Homefront 2!!
This was so worth the 3 dollars I spent. Too bad multiplayer is shut down. I want to try it.
WE STILL HAVE GUYS THAT PLAY GAMER TAG IS NYBADBOY ON XBOX
@MrWatchmen759 i think you mean "number of sales" and as far as I know the studio was not shut down
@xmrassasin If you buy the game used then you don't get that little pass code. That pass code lets you go to the max. If you dont have it your capped at 5.

no offline multiplayer?
@mintyvision clearly you haven't played brink.
This was a great game - too short though.
@SkullxKing brink is looking really innovative but being so different is risky, which is why homefront decided to be safe.
does anyone play this on ps3 multiplayer anymore,i was thinkin bout buyin it
The servers are closed since 2012
@ShadoShokk I'm pretty sure there was much discussion on putting it there... it was to show the curroption of what was going on.
even though it was short i enjoyed the story of homefront better than any fps in recent memory, it was actually emotionally engaging rather than just a bunch of overly butch dudes blowing shit up, i hope whoever picks the sequel up keeps an engaging story

when you're aiming down the sight. is the bullet-spread tight like in CoD or do you actually need to burst-fire like in BC2?
@deluke3 crysis 2..what the reviewer doesnt say is the crazy amount of server issues this game has.. check the homefront forums to further show my point
the plot of this game is actually believable (unlike some other fps campaigns out there)
seeing as fuel sources are becomming more scarce (you can tell by price rises)
Is this game worth buying for 10£? The ultimate edition?
Or should I go with Killzone 3 instead?
@Btroopz they are 1 continues on and you still play as the main character and one takes place in hawaii were you play a SAS officer and there is a sequel thats suppose to be in london or it maybe DLC but you wont be sad anymore :D
so how decent is this game for only singleplayer, any modes other than campaign? replay value?
Drones, like Frontlines Fuel of War. The greatest FPS ever conceived. This game is almost like a sequel.
i almost freaking teared up when i heard that boy cry when his parents got shot
Help me.Please!!Should i buy this game, black ops or killzone 3?i only have enough money for 1,maybe 2....
Does this game still have active multiplayer on PS3
?
So i justn got this game for xmas and i still havent opened it deciding wheter to return it and get somethin else like MW3 or battlefield 3 or jus keep it, wat shud i do?
And also, I notice tons of similarities between Homefront and Call of Duty. First of all, in multiplayer your feats are shown in green text above the crosshairs, the radar is in the same place and has the same look, and the sprint animations look suspiciously similar. This almost looks like a mod.
@TheTemplar117 Did you have a HD TV or HDMI cable?
The question that has been hauntinge is should i buy homrfront or crysis 2? Please help im buying it on friday need to decide
@PeterEhik
You can't compare pain, everyone has a different experience and threshold. It depends on who you are and your situation. You can't judge others for being "weak".
guys how long is the singleplayer in this game? is it longer than medal of honor and black ops?is it worth buying?
@fol900 It's supposed to make you feel that way. I thought that was an excellent addition to help immerse the player emotionally. I started feeling sad when I saw that part too.
@BacteriumsBud I checked my tv and it says HDTV and it says HDMI, my tv is a Sylvania dolby digital tv. Is there a setting I'm supposed to change?
should i get this or fear 3 ? and how many maps in homefront
I bought this game a few days ago. I'm a COD guy and I love this game. But single player is too short so if you're thinking about buying this game just for SP, be prepared to waste 40 something dollars for just about 5 hrs of gameplay.

which would u advice,
Homefront or Crysis 2

did you get it? i'm about to buy it, but if the MP is dead then it's not worth paying 20 for 5 hours of gameplay
If I bought this game for pc. will I find Many servers "MORE THAN 200server " on the multiplayer?
Thank you, please reply!
Can someone please tell me what the song is at the very start? Thanks
Should I get this or Crysis 2? Please respond!
@Estillz96 well what would you reccomend?
what should i get brink or homefront
@colafass
It was very, very sick. I had no idea they could show that.
@96komodo wat r u gettin HF 4
cool! should i get this or killzone 3
Homefront is one of the best Multiplayers on OnLive... even though I do wish for BF3 or Halo 4 to come to OnLive :/
@wolf35553 No, it has the best backstory. I absolutely fell in love with the story. I thought that it would be awesome to play in this world that the developers had created. @nickgandy3 they tried to give it the same feel. and its the same dev
what was the name of the song playin at the start of the review.
Darude Sandstorm
Now THIS was a well done review. I am a little disappointed they only gave it a 7 out of 10, but unlike the drudge that is IGN's review, it makes a 7 sound good, since it is, instead of like shit.
You do know I meant OnLive and that's why I called it "OnLive" not Xbox Live.
Home-Front look like awesome video-game and also sad to hear the campaign is only 5 hours long
@kcunit333 but gamespot and ign both gave this game the same score!
@melvinman11 I love black ops, but at this point, you're far late so just get KZ3 and homefront. If you can only get one do heads or tails with a quarter lol because they're both really good.

I like this game, but the ending, which was meant to be dramatic, felt dry, and unrealistic. What are your opinions of Homefront?
@chazmoh Yeah it is, but I think it really shows the brutality and horror of the game and the setting its in, correct me if im wrong.
@preethamable it's about 5-8 hours.............it worth renting.........the experience in this game was never seen in another game.....this was the first game that made me feel bad when i see someone dies.......it portrays war in a new and original way !!! if u can't rent it......Then BUY IT !!!
@st82nd well no my voice isnt squeky any more i was able to grow my balls back and now i sound normal again
This game is great, contrary to many people's beliefs and opinions about this game. I love the game and I will continue to defend and support it.
Good review. I beat the game in slightly under 4 hours, and couldn't even connect to an Xbox Live game. Glad I rented it.
@nfdids
what realy they didnt get shut down can you please explane to me how you know that am realy hopeing for a new homefront
@WallyWadeMovies
buy second hand for 30$ - play - sell for 30$.
Money cost: zero dollars.
i wonder if theres one for mac
how many games have you played where 'hide in the mass grave' is an objective
I think so, the campaign is good (short though) and the multiplayer is well worth it in my eyes.
@ShadoShokk what's the problem with that movies showcase these type of things all the time...batman, many disaster movies etc.
After finishing the review for the game, I honestly expected the final verdict to be like an 8.5, but I went to gamespot's site and it only got a 7! @GameAtHeart Thank you very much!!
I never said mw3 is a revolutionary game, but it does what the series is known for and it does it well.
Both homefront and mw3 are average shooters but id rather play a cod game than a cod clone anyday.
I found the campaign short (yet fun), and the multilayer did not offer much more the COD4. The concept is amazing if your into politics and stuff
@UH60Austin that depends what you like, Crysis 2 is something like Halo and maybe Killzone, Homefront is like the reproduction of Battlefield and CoD on steroids, but there are things on homefront that Crysis doesn't have, same thing reversed. Damn..I didn't know MP was shut down,,, I use to like to jump on now & again ..
Why are people saying that kid is going to be batman. I don't get it, am I missing a really obvious point?
picked this up yesterday for 8 bucks[used] @ Gamestop, along with "Bulletstorm"[also 8 bucks] and have to say it is a VERY strong title all the way around, while it may not be a "COD" or "BF" killer,it most definitely is much more emotional & will tug @ your heart strings, and really makes you want to kick ass and get revenge, also it is awesome to finally see a title that does not glorify War,but shows you just how utterly disgusting & inhuman War truly is,very solid game @ a gr8 price~

"In the spirit of Half Life..." I already like these reviewers.
'You get your money's worth' if you play MP which I don't so I'll do the same thing I do with all FPS' and rent them. Side Note - MW2 was 5 hours long and I don't remember everyone mentioning it at the time but well it was a few years ago :D

@MrQi19 that was a mistake that I already checked
great review! actually thinking of picking it up now!
I don't know what's worse. Seeing the kids parents get killed in front of him. Or the destroyed white castle.
I hate it when gamespot doesn't show the rating at the end of the vid.
can u do offline matches?
i cried, my FREAKING HEART OUT when i saw that kids parents get shot!....MY, FREAKING, HEART, OUT!!!
anyone else not able to find a match in multiplayer?
@convictiongamer You are thinking of Batman.
i like the look of this game but ill prob only play it for the beta, and do any of u guys know is bulletstorm any good. i hear the campaign is good but that is all u can really do.
should i get this game?
