The man will always be a 7 time champion to me!
Wish nascar would acknowledge that more but we all know they're to scared to admit it cause it shows how flawed the chase format has always been.
And he would have that if not more if evernham would have stayed....and if the point system would have stayed like it was....but that's part of Nascars politics not wanted someone to break a record.

One of my favorite 500s ever and my most favorite out of all Jeff’s 500 wins!
Awesome, my favorite 500 win of his will always be 1999 but this of course is a damn good one too since he won it by straight up racing to the checkers. I hated that 1997 ended under yellow.

That was my first ever race I remembered watching I went crazy when Jeff won I was about 11 years old
I remember watching this 500 as a 9-year old. This was the only 500 win of his I got to see so it meant so much to me. I was jumping off the wall when it happened. Simply couldn't believe it. Hoping that I'll be able to experience it soon with either Elliott or Byron #di9 #24ever

Yeah I was very young for the glory days of Gordon's career, which makes me sad. I wish I was able to witness them. I started following Jeff in 2001, so I at least got to witness one title. I wish I got to see those days when Gordon was dominating. That must have been something. I know NASCAR doesn't see that kind of dominance too often anymore, but I'm hoping to experience success with what Chase and Willy have the potential to do. I'm so excited for those two

I have been trying to find video of his comeback win in Martinsville( Not sure?).. Where he was down 3 laps at 1 point in the race and came back to win.
