These late-career wins were so damn special. I kinda had a feeling his career was winding down, and the competition was so tough that I really tried to soak them all in, and enjoy them as they came. I'm quite glad I was able to witness that 2012 Pocono win in person after a season of disappointment.
Thank you for the nostalgia! Been a Gordon fan from 2003-present. These are fantastic! i met him in 2016, and it was an experience i will never ever forget!
That 2009 All Star race always makes me sad. That car was sooooo dominant. Had Newman backed out a little off 4, they would have made it and I dont think Gordon would've lost. That car was insanely fast
2014 was such a great year for him. Those cars were the fastest cars there ever have been in nascar. Unlimited HP, and some high downforce. No surprise Jeff had success that year. However, that year could’ve been so much better. Could’ve easily been 8-10 wins. Both Texas races, Pocono 2, Watkins Glen, Martinsville 2, Phoenix 2, Chicagoland, both Richmond races, Charlotte 2, Sonoma, Homestead. Race winning speed in all of those races, in like 5 of these he had the dominant car, just some rough late restarts plagued him.
2010 Las Vegas was so painful, along with Martinsville and Phoenix, he had real speed that first part of the year, imagine if all those missed wins he would’ve won, we’re talking hypothetically I know, but that’s over 100 wins 😮😩😩
I legitimately wanted to vomit that day. Hard pill to swallow... and then after the race was just ugly. Blech. I can *kinda* laugh about it now though. haha
These end of careers wins we're always special to me, especially after how 08-10 went for him. Was grateful and thankful I actually got to see him win the 05 Aaron's 499 in person as a 7 year old kid.
I was at the 2014 sonoma race and it sucked seeing him fall just short but I'll never forget the 2014 brickyard weeks later will always be my 2nd favorite gordon win 2nd to 2015 lone win at Martinsville
He wasn't that bad of a crew chief, I will admit I do think he was a bit young when he took the job, I think he was still a bit star struck by Jeff and maybe deferred a lot to Gordon to make decisions instead of being the leader that Jeff needed to look to. Basically he let Jeff tell him what changes needed to be made to the car, even though many times the changes Jeff asked for ended up making the car worse. Letarte needed the confidence to stand up to Jeff more and not always agree with him.
That Indy restart was just a reminder to everyone of this man’s greatness
I was watching live having no idea how he got it to stick
Those remaining years of Jeff Gordon's career were truly filled with a lot of emotional wins 🥹

The Atlanta race was the greatest display of driving I've ever seen from both of them

2010 Vegas is in that category of heartbreakers. It was his race until they called him for 2 tires on the last stop. He dominated that one
@@cruisinwithcoreyLetarte strikes again
@grandprix2412 ya.... more heartbreaking moments lol that man should have over 100 wins in my opinion

I really liked the silver and black National Guard cars he had
I liked his Pepsi car he used to race at the Daytona summer July 4th weekend race! Miss these years of Nascar!
@@rebelsoul5980 I’m just loved the look and the sound of the early to mid 2000’s cars .

Aren’t you forgetting Texas also? Dominant car that day too…
@@immortal5812 ughh lol I did forget 😫😫😂
Chicago too. He was gonna win Martinsville easily until the caution came out
so many missed wins in this timeline. 2014 Texas Fall still stings the most

I hope you’re well man, we used to be in a group on FB.
I’ve watched this through twice, and smiled the whole time!

He should have 7 chips 😑
If we go by Winston Cup points, 04, 07, and 14 were all championship level years.
LeTarte should have been a tire carrier not a crew chief.
