Of all the games I have played, Light Platinum has the most gift pokemon(10 to 15). My team was: Charizard, Electivire, Swampert, Espeon, Tyranitar, Hydreigon Stats: Charizard 534, Electivire 540, Swampert 535, Espeon 525, Tyranitar 600, Hydreigon 600 All pokemon having awesome stats, 2 of them being Pseudo-Legendary! (and yes, all the above pokemon are gift pokemons!!) And about your question, there aren't really a lot of gift pokemon in Emerald, I think less than 6 so it will be a kind of disadvantage TBH
