When I was stationed with a guard company in Hawaii at a naval base long ago we used to do the Marine Combat Fitness test 3 mile run in utilitys, combat boots, light marching pack, cartridge belt with two filled canteens, and a M14. It wasn’t that difficult. It was all mind over matter.

@@sds6303 all of these tests have been changed in the last decade or w/e probably because the old tests are boring if nothing else. I think Nico should have had a separate course b/c I'm sure it was chewed up by the army guy. 800 meter is a difficult run and it's even more difficult if you don't pace it right. I wouldn't expect anyone not used to track and field being able to gauge it to maximize speed/energy on the first run.

Right now you make a point for sure. The army has gone woke. This is very sad. Sure hope this will change. Overall, the training for basic infantry, empathize physical strength and endurance. However, this is weakened as well. Advanced training is for the building of skills, advanced weapons, navigation, communication. Now, the special forces training ( Green Beret ), has a selection process that determines which candidate has the psychological make-up that suites the missions a green beret will perform. During this phase a psychologist will carefully observe each man and determine the ones that will be selected for acceptance into special forces training. In general having brains and bronze with great people skills and moral fiber, communication ability is a good sign a person might be selected.

A lot of comments about Army and Navy not wearing boots. Is there a branch policy not allowing wearing of boots and cams for fitness tests?
I spent a lot of time training and working with US Marines whilst I was in the Australian Defence Force and the marines would always run in boots, officially OHS/Military policy wouldn’t allow us to run in boots. We could wear the can’t see me jym jams but weren’t allowed to wear boots for runs, we tried to when we could. But our standard physical fitness test was PT gear. I always admired the USMC for doing fitness tests that required wearing boots as it was relevant to a combat fitness test.
Even when attempting SF selection those activities deemed to be a run were done in full cams, battle gear and rifle but still wearing runners. Only those activities that weren’t running activities we wore boots. Now that didn’t mean they didn’t say an activity was a timed 3.2km(2mile) event in boots and had us wearing boots but we chose to run they couldn’t force it.

For this specific fitness test, it is absolutely a requirement.

Wait wait wait wait a minute. I can excuse the not wearing full uniform and boots because they maybe didnt get told, but using two tiny kettlebells instead of the 2 Ammo cans that are supposed to be used? Cmon lol those were like at most 15 lbs, meaning they carrying 40 lbs than needed

Should be boots and utes and two 35 lb ammo cans for the MUF so would of probably knocked them both 20-30 points but overall great to see.

I’d be more interested to see it done in the proper uniform, I ran a 2:44 880 in boots and utes and it was hell, their scores are good but I’d be interested to see their scores with MARINE CORPS boots on
