My mother would act coy when my father would pat her behind - horrified me at that time...My partner/husband of 26 years does similar things with me, and he does so in front of my mother! Respectful affection goes a long way in life, and teaches children that parents are people who fell in love, and "enjoyed" the process. Best
Amber's reaction was so sweet when she realized with the song really meant! Now it finally dawned on her that her dad saw her mom has the sexiest woman on the whole planet! He was singing his little Heeeey baaaaby song to her and making sure she knew how attractive he felt she was. That's so important for a woman to feel that, especially after having children. I'm sure that Amber knows this since she's a mother. I hope she doesn't feel embarrassed now that she's aware of what it means. She should feel happy and lucky and her parents was ACTUALLY SINGING PRAISES about their attraction to each other! When you think about it, that is pretty cool! XO 😃😏❤️🎵😎🤘

Don't forget "Sweet Love"! That is so soulful and almost has a gospel flava ha LOVE the Commodores, they were a HUGE part of my growing up in South Central L.A. Music was some if not 90% of all my fondest memories of my childhood.🥰💖🙌🏻🙏🏽
Play this song anywhere, and every girl in the place will get up and dance. "Easy Like Sunday Morning" is another great Commodores song. Lionel Richie had quite a solo career in the 80s too.
The commodores were on fire! Loved dancing to this when it came on in the club. They still played it even years after it was released! About 15 years ago a friend got a new phone & asked what my ringtone did I want for when I called. Without thinking I said Brick house. We still laugh at it today.

@@maryreilly5092 Yep, and that's why there's the brief pause between the words "brick" and "house". Obviously they were giving the listener a space in which to mentally insert the "sh#t". ;)
You’ve just got to love the Commodores and Brick House. Can’t believe Jay never heard of the Commodores, but that means he’ll enjoy diving deep into their catalog. The Commodores were led by Lionel Richie. I think Sweet Love and Still are two you absolutely need to check out!

This song was indeed The Commodores FUNKIEST tune, ever! And lovers of THICKNESS can, did, have & always will RELATE! Yes, I know you guys are young, but ya HAD to know this one... it's an American Funk Classic!
The Commodores is one of the best of the seventies R&B/funk bands! They had so many hits like Easy, Zoom, Still, Three Time A Lady, Sweet Love, etc! Lionel Richie sang lead on most of their hits in the seventies then he went on to a successful solo career in the eighties! This song was led by another band member, Walter Orange, and it was a huge hit in the late seventies! How can they just sit there? This song pulls me out of my chair, even today. The original saying was "built like a brick sh*t house". Loved me some Soul Train.
Not all of their music, but this song is Funk. I think you should give Funkadelic or Parliament, both led by George Clinton, a listen. Great music there!
I saw an interview with the guy who "wrote" this song. They needed 1 more song for an album and he only had 1 night to come up with it. He said he fell asleep on the couch with the notepad on his lap. When he woke up, the words for Brick House were on the pad. While he was sleeping, his wife wrote it. This band was so good. Contemporaries with Earth,Wind, and Fire, and other great great groups. Positive message in their songs, super organized, fantastic tours, classic songs. But groups like this were also expensive from a producer point of view and producers found that it was cheaper to put a Rapper and a DJ on stage with a small light show, plus easier to tour. So all of the groups like this went away in favor of hiphop within a very few years. Glad to see you are looking back to appreciate some of these earlier bands and their amazing work.
I saw Lionel in Little Rock, years ago. His plane was late and most of the crowd had gone home, but stayed and played for the handful of us left. It was like our own little concert. He was awesome!!

Awesome reaction! I grew up hearing 'she's built like a brick s&*t house'... the wooden ones tended to collapse or fall apart (exactly what happened to uncle Walt's, while he was in it) with use, but the brick ones were well built, sturdy, stood the test of time and looked nice.
I love listening to you guys! I am probably the same age as your parents, Amber! They taught you all the music I listened to and still love! I am 64. Lynn, Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada Love your channel!
Kool & The Gang is the bomb. I’ve seen them a couple times at corporate events. Everyone loves them so they get invited back a lot. So many great songs.
The Commodores used to be the opening act for the Jackson 5, Lionel Richie sang lead on most of their hits, then he left and had an even better solo career , he co-wrote “We are the World” with Michael Jackson. He also is the only artist in history to have a song go number 1 nine years in a row!
I was in the 9th grade when this song came out. I remember driving to school and The Commodores would be playing loud and clear on the radio. My foot would be tapping and I would be singing along. Damn those were the days.
Love the Commodores! I grew up in the 70’s, they were one of many of my favorite bands. I saw them live about 3 years ago. They could still get their groove on! Lol
Slick Rick: He came up with Doug E. Fresh before going solo, so I would say it’s imperative to check out at least La Di Da Di by Doug E Fresh & Slick Rick, and The Show by them is also excellent. Slick Rick was the 3rd artist signed to Def Jam Records, after the Beastie Boys and LL Cool J. Solo songs I’d recommend are Children’s Story, The Ruler’s Back, and Mona Lisa. Kool & The Gang: The main thing to know about them is their career basically has two different eras. Early on, from 1969-1978, they were largely an instrumental funk band. They had a few songs that members of the band would sing on, but they had no dedicated lead singer. Great songs from this era include Soul Vibrations, Dujii, Summer Madness, Funky Stuff, Jungle Boogie, and Hollywood Swinging, By 1978 their popularity had waned, so they changed things up, added a dedicated lead singer, and changed their sound to a more commercial pop sound and their popularity exploded. Songs from that era to check are Ladies Night, Get Down On It, Cherish, and Fresh. Everybody’s gonna recommend Celebration, but I’d be amazed if both of you haven’t already heard it, it’s been played at practically every sporting event the last 40 years when the home team wins.
Lionel Richie wrote this song and mostly all of the Commodores hits. They actually released Lionel from the group because they knew he became too big for them, even though he didn't want to leave the group. Their biggest hit without Lionel is Night Shift a tribute to Jackie Wilson and Marvin Gaye.
@Wilt Chamberlain is the GOAT Lionel was becoming too big for the Commodores and although successful, they were becoming jealous of Lionel getting all of the credit.
I remember dancing to this song at a club in Dallas in 1977. My senior year in high school. Seems like only 40ish years ago. YIKES! Love you guys' reactions. Keep 'em coming!
I love this guys voice. I love this beat. I love the brass. This came out when I was mid-elementary. I had a 45. I used to dance to this, alone in my bedroom...night after night!
Love this song! The Commodores met when they were students at Tuskegee Institute in Tuskegee, Alabama.. Being from Alabama myself, I felt a sense of pride in them. AMBER AMBER AMBER!! The sax player is Lionel Richie, who went on to have a great solo career. I love his voice.. One of my favorite songs is "Hello". He also did a duet with Diana Ross, called "Endless Love".
Amber and Jay, From what I've been able to find, The Commodores were considered a rhythm and blues/funk group that began in 1967.Lionel Ritchie (seen here playing the sax) was one of the founding members. He played saxophone, keyboards, and sang lead vocals (though not on this song, the lead was their drummer, Walter Orange ).They had so many great songs over the years. Sail On, Easy, Nightshift, and Lady (You Bring Me Up) are some of my favorites.
My friends and I used to sneak into bars when we where like 17, since legal drinking age was 18 in NJ. This song didn't play without our little behinds getting up to dance. Thanks for the awesome memory.
By the way saw this group 3 times, at the Omni in Atlanta… My part-time job! What a performance I mean what a theatrical amazement. The music and theatrics couldn’t beat it
@@joyhruska9377 same!!! The Omni so long ago with the Ice Skating Arena and Burt Reynolds place. I saw quite a few concerts there too but I was a pre-teen when it became CNN center
GENRE = FUNK The Commodores were the second band to become my favorite. (I first fell in love with Simon & Garfunkel!) I saw the Commodores on the Midnight Special and they did "Sail On" and "Still." They. Looked. AWESOME. I became a fan on the spot. Lionel Richie would go on to be one of the biggest solo artists of the '80s. He wasn't my _favorite_ (I was into Eurythmics by then) but I sure bought a bunch of his solo albums. He was fantastic, but a lot more of a smooth singer of romantic songs with a few bangin' dance songs thrown in.
They used to play this for me every time I went in my favorite pool hall, since I was 6'2 and 250lbs they felt I was built like one. TY for the reaction, as always it was a pleasure.
I remember when this came out. Somebody called me a Brickhouse and I had not heard the song. It didn't sound like a compliment. But boy, when I heard the song! I was in high school. The Commodores are one of my favorite R&B groups!
Aww Amber’s reaction when she realized the true meaning was hilarious. Her childhood memories keep being changed with each song she revisits.

def do more of the Commodores though they were one of my fav Funk Soul Bands, sorts gutted at the time when Lionel Ritchie left to pursue a solo career, these dudes just oozed COOL back then.
The sax player definitely looks like Lionel, I was just going to look that up...
That’s him alright.
Lionel was always in the band
Sax and vocals
Lol. This is my daughter's ringtone on my phone.
Commodores are considered R&B/Soul and Funk.
"Just to be close to you" is one Amber's gonna love.
This another of my favorite dancing songs. I'm 69 and can still shake a leg. I love we to sing and dance.
I just saw thus video fur the first time today , such an excellent performance.
The way I described it is so loose and yet so tight!
Hell yeah! Lionel Ritchie playing sax! He wrote so many of their songs - went on to have an amazing solo career.
Most people have never heard the whole phrase.😂
Poor Uncle Walt 🤣🤣
I was about to post that younger listeners didn't know the entire expression.
Let It Whip by The Dazz Band is another JAM!
Also "Swoop" by The Dazz Band
Always love the groups with the Brass sections.
I love listening to you guys! I am probably the same age as your parents, Amber! They taught you all the music I listened to and still love! I am 64. Lynn, Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada Love your channel!
Amber, Kool and the Gang is a good idea. 👍
Celebration is a good one to start with.
I'd suggest, Ladies Night.
KOOL AND THE GANG. OH YEA!!!
"Get Down On It" is a great dance song.
Kool & The Gang is the bomb. I’ve seen them a couple times at corporate events. Everyone loves them so they get invited back a lot. So many great songs.
One of my all-time favorite songs 🥰☮️✌️
Saw them in Daytona beach, fla in 1977! Excellent group! You cant sit still to this funky beat!
Hands down BEST song to skate to and get your boogie on! ❤
The Commodores used to be the opening act for the Jackson 5, Lionel Richie sang lead on most of their hits, then he left and had an even better solo career , he co-wrote “We are the World” with Michael Jackson. He also is the only artist in history to have a song go number 1 nine years in a row!
Played at every event!, Yup we’ve all danced to it at some time or another!! Thx guys! SMILE😀😀
Lol
Loved The Commodores and Earth, Wind and Fire and Ohio Players back in the day!!
Hey check out Sly, and The Family Stone: Family Affair, and Everyday People. Please
Let's not forget "If You Want Me to Stay" 😉
Good call 😉
And Dance to the music
Lionel Richie wrote this song and mostly all of the Commodores hits. They actually released Lionel from the group because they knew he became too big for them, even though he didn't want to leave the group. Their biggest hit without Lionel is Night Shift a tribute to Jackie Wilson and Marvin Gaye.
@Wilt Chamberlain is the GOAT Lionel was becoming too big for the Commodores and although successful, they were becoming jealous of Lionel getting all of the credit.
A fun loving dance tune that everybody loved !
"Easy" was my fav from back in the day, but we did a lot of dancing to all of the Commodores music.
Lionel Ritchie and the Commodores are amazing. As a band, and then his solo career they’re 🔥
Fun song! Everyone hits the dance floor!!!!
My favorite Commodores song is ‘Three Times A Lady’. It’s a TOTALLY different vibe.
R&B, and funk!
Love this song, the Commodores were a sample of the 70’s and 80’s....The 60’s,70’s and early 80’s to me was by far is the best music era
😁🙌🏼💯 YES IT WAS!!!
Ya but this was the 70s 1976
Lionel Richies’ “Penny Lover” is lovely..he is such a great song writer
Of course he wrote Lady for Kenny Rogers…so many more. Love the fam! ❤️🔥❤️🔥
Another great song from my childhood . This was the kind of great music I would listen to in summertime. Love this stuff.
36-24-36 ow, what a winning hand!! Lionel on the sax!!
you need to hear "Sail On" "Night Shift"and "Easy"
Amber and Jay, From what I've been able to find, The Commodores were considered a rhythm and blues/funk group that began in 1967.Lionel Ritchie (seen here playing the sax) was one of the founding members. He played saxophone, keyboards, and sang lead vocals (though not on this song, the lead was their drummer, Walter Orange ).They had so many great songs over the years. Sail On, Easy, Nightshift, and Lady (You Bring Me Up) are some of my favorites.
I haven't heard this song in years. I forgot how fun it was.
Oh, the dance we did to this song! Lol! AMBER! Do The Commodores..."Easy".
The music and theatrics couldn’t beat it
I saw a bunch of concerts in the 80's at the Omni but I missed the Commodores.
@@joyhruska9377 same!!! The Omni so long ago with the Ice Skating Arena and Burt Reynolds place. I saw quite a few concerts there too but I was a pre-teen when it became CNN center
Ohhh The Omni!!! What a blast from the past!! I have many fond childhood/adulthood memories of things I saw there. Missed these guys tho.
@@ms.dirtybird7779 i saw Journey, Elton John, Prince,
the list goes on, so many good acts at the Omni!
Another group close to this sound and time would be Heatwave. "Boogie Nights"
GENRE = FUNK
The Commodores were the second band to become my favorite.
There is so much funk, Rick James is rolling in his cocaine filled grave.
