This is a fine intro to this Band.
However, you are being given positively the WORSTE songs as examples of artists.
For instance, Neil Young has 100 albums. Try "Like a Hurricane". He also has a stage presence.
For the Rolling Stones, try "Brown Sugar". Their live videos are beyond belief.
For Jimi Hendrix "Purple Haze" or "All Along the Watchtower"(A Bob Dylan song)
The Average White Band are Scottish. This video is dross compared to the original album track.
Donald Fagen & Walter Becker are Steely Dan. Listen to ALL of "AJA".
The Chuck Berry video is from Belgian TV and not even with his band. Listen to the 1962 "You Never Can Tell" and THAT was at the end of his hit period.
Any Elvis track from the Sun Records sessions is 100% better than the live stuff from his declining years.

  • @buddystewart2020

Earth, Wind & Fire made a smooth transition into the disco era, adapting their R&B sound to the new groove. "Fantasy," written by group members Maurice and Verdine White along with the keyboard player/composer Eddie del Barrio, fit right in at Studio 54, but also had a deeper meaning, which was typical of Maurice White's productions: he would put a message on top of an infectious beat.
Talking about the message in this song, Maurice told Melody Maker: "The song 'Fantasy' is motivated about escapism in the sense of living on a world that is untrue, a world that is unjust, a world that is very selfish and envious, there is a place that everyone can escape to which is their own fantasy. I had to write the song in the sense of sharing this place with people. It's an escape mechanism."

Earth, Wind, and Fire (EWF)....the greatest band of all time. The late Maurice White is founder of the band who wrote most of their music & sang lead/background vocals. Phillip Bailey is the other lead singer with the falsetto. He's known for his high register....been known to hit notes as high as Mariah Carey. EWF was not a disco band. "Boogie Wonderland" was probably their only disco song & they only did that song due to pressure to do a disco song because it was in at the time. But EWF did mostly R&B, Funk, Great Ballads. Their heyday was the 70s & they were huge. The 1st concert I ever went to in 1975....."The Way of the World" tour. You guys need to check out some stuff from that album...."Reasons"...."Can't Hide Love"...."Shining Star"....the title track "That's the Way of the World". All of their albums are classics.

They were almost New Age in their prsentation with the outfits and the taking us TO THE SKIES. GREAT DESCRIPTION. No it is not. It may have been their biggest crossover ballad for pop music, but it definitely wasn't their best song. I suggest you listen to their entire catalog. Some of you only hear a couple of songs and deem it their best, because it's the only one you listen to repeatedly. 🤦🏽‍♀️

One of the best things about EWF is that they don't just repeat the same verses like most songs, they change the arrangements by singing higher and higher, or elaborating musically.

It's getting bumpy in here." lol I literally haven't heard this song since I was a kid and I'm 65 now but as soon as I heard the beginning, the song came back to life in my head. This song always takes me back to Fall 1996 when I was a junior in high school and our marching band did a EW&F competition show. This was one of the songs. But it wasn't until a couple years ago that I discovered the full version of it which contains my favorite part: As you glide in your stride with the wind as you fly away give a smile from your lips and say, "I am free. Yes, I'm free. Now, I'm on my way." It makes me think of when I came out and was ready to be myself openly.

Of course she listened to the song and became an instant fan even at a young age to a song that was 30+ years old! Nice reaction from you guys! I'm old enough to be your father, so I'm familiar with most of the songs your review. I'm surprised that you're not familiar with these performers but overwhelmed by your joy and excitement when you listen to them.
