When I was your age EWF was a big part of the soundtrack to my life. Yes we had it good! Very hard for me to listen to today’s music now that I don’t have any young people in the house. I always gravitate to MY music. It’s timeless.
Me too! I was raised in a multicultural family and this was a huge part of my life(47 now). Listening to this brings me to tears. Today everything’s so divisive. We’ve definitely regressed and it breaks my heart 🤦🏻♂️😢 "We all, will live love forever... as ONE"

They were very deep into the practice of cultic mysticism. This is why their albums display all of the tell tell signs based on the ancient egytian signs and logos.. Lyrics such as ( " the twelth of never " ) imples no ending to a single year because there are twelve months in a year. There are hidden messegas in many of their songs which all had such a mind blowing melody.. Another reason why everything they did sounded so masterfully perfect is because they were a group sold out to their craft. They would stay in the studio for long hours even all night long all the way to the next day working hard to get everything to sound right. They believed in perfection
Their goals were to 1) Be the best band in the world, and 2) Never make records in the studio that they couldn't do as good or BETTER in their lives shows without any cheating or lip-synching. That's why if you watch their live version of "Fantasy" from back in the day, it's even better than the studio recording.
In my opinion, the "All n All" album was when Earth, Wind & Fire reached their peak. Not that what came after wasn't outstanding, but here, everything they'd been building on in previous albums was refined to perfection.

EW&F were true artists as well as accomplished musicians. They had huge wide appeal with fans across all genres at the time. Their hits flooded the nation's radio stations for years during the 70's. Yeah, you said it. They are legends.
EFW was the band back in the days. Enjoyed all their albums. Their concert were also something to watch, the production of their concert were just as entertaining as their album. They knew how to put on a show. They had the Sister Sledge as their backup singers and they had dancers going all over the stage. Amazing shows!!
I was 15 when this lp was released. It was normal back then to hear great original music every week. Sampling killed the originality in music. Today's great singers would've been back ground singers backindaday.. LOL.. You should look for the live version of Fantasy 1978 if you want to see how great Philip Bailey was then. And how great The Elements were. 👍🏾
I was 16 and in LOVE with EWF!!! I rode a bus 3 hours to see them perform live at the Washington Amphitheater!!! They were unbelievable, spinning drums and all! The cloud of smoke from the audience got everybody HIGH!! You missed one of the greatest groups of our time... continue to enjoy!!!!
Multi-Grammy award-winning album...EVERYTHING you know and want from EWF is on this album!! Soft ballad, hard funk, PHENIX horns, melodies, instrumentals....THIS says it all. React to their award-winning instrumental "Runnin". IMO a top 3 EWF album of all-time.

This was not as big as some of their other songs back in the day. But it has always been my favorite EW&F song. It has aged gorgeously. But when I really wanna feel it, I go to “That’s The Way Of The World”
The thing is, I saw them the year this album came out and to this day, it was the best concert I’ve ever witnessed! That includes the Parliament/Funkadelic’s P-Funk Earth tour, with the Mothership landing!
This band was such an amazing band. They were musical geniuses. They wrote music they sang music with a mind blowing vocal range. They played instruments thru danced. They were SUPERSTARS! They had incredible stage presence. They were the definition of artists and entertainer's. Their music has stood the test of time. I only WISH I could have seen them live!
A great album . EWF ( Maurice White especially ) liked Brazilian music , and obviously R and B . Also they worked with the same engineers that worked with the group Chicago .
Earth, Wind, and Fire, and Chicago, were two of I think, the first bands to combine brass, along with the normal line up of instruments! That's why the sound is so unique! The both of them kill it, even up to today, and always play to sold out crowds!
I was in in junior high school when this came out, but, overall, I remember how crazy all the girls were over Philip Bailey's voice and Maurice White's genius.
What can you say about Earth Wind and Fire? The slickest, tightest, funkiest most well produced grooves one could ask for. And then there's PHILLIP BAILEY!! Soul Music perfection.
EW&F is great, but this one is my favorite, yet one of their most under rated songs. Seeing them in concert when they toured for this LP was more than one could hope for in a concert. Yes, an amazing LP and song! Bailey’s voice took it and the instruments..it’s the everything . I always felt this one was the perfect marriage of their rhythm, messaging and voices; on point taking me on that flight. And ‘12th of never’ is a very old expression that is. Time that never comes to pass, Johnny Mathis had a very popular song of that title.
Yeah, we did have it good AND now you do, too😉❤!!! I'm so glad you choose to experience them and appreciate what they had to offer musically!!! I really like your reactions to them - they are right on!!!
Just Jammin' I'm sure you've been told by now, but you should absolutely read or listen to Maurice White's autobiography 'My Life With Earth, Wind & Fire'. Everything that Earth Wind & Fire became was exactly how he described it to his boss (Ramsey Lewis) when he told him he was quitting his well paid job as his drummer to start his own band. You asked in a couple videos about what went into the production of the albums. Not only will you learn what technically went into the albums, but also what went into the band...the actual making of it & how it literally grew from a dream Maurice White had to the best band to make music.
Being that I am doing a memorial for my brother I grew up listening to these songs as well as the Commodores. I certainly will search for your other reaction to the Cs in just a bit, but I would love to see a reaction to the song ZOOM by them. I recently rediscovered that song after 40 years of not hearing it and it brought tears to my eyes. I am glad my brother listened to them and was certainly blessed with hearing all of those music changes!!! On this one you hear things on guitars and brass that are rare, like the guttural sounds and the short horn blasts, not to mention the violins. You need to react to the Blaxploitation cinema tracks. They will blow your mind!!!! Later.
Man, this song can bring tears to my eyes because of how beautiful it is. I've been listening to it for decades and I get the same feeling I did when I was a kid. I listened to this auditory perfection repeatedly until I knew every single sound and lyric. And then I listened to it some more. Lol
