Cameron preparing The Terminator for that Botox treatment.
At this point preordering a James Cameron 4K is equivalent to preordering a Battlefield or COD game.
Why don’t RUclipsrs ever mention ORIGINAL THEATRICAL AUDIO, a lot of movies on blu ray have a bastardized version of the theatrical sound design, Terminator deserves to have the theatrical mono mix, where the guns sound like big and loud, every release since dvd have had added NEW SOUND EFFECTS for the gun sounds( they sound like they have silencers) and among other things. If you watch Terminator with the mono sound I’m sure you’ll agree it’s the best for the film(it just feels more horror like).
That’s what I’m saying. Extend the score out to a granter audio configuration like 5.1, 7.1 or Atmos but keep the original SFX on how it’s presented theatrically and retained on home video releases to position them to where they need to be to make the experience more immersive.
Yeah, the gun shots sounds (especially the shotgun) absolutely awful! You wouldn’t replace Dirty Harry’s 44 mag sound, so why ruin The Terminator?
I agree. They should include the original mono track for the 4K release.
Why would he suddenly stop for this movie? He clearly loves this look and goes out of his way to make sure he makes it look modern and waxy
Knowing Cameron, he’s going to DNR it to death. He’s done for, as is Hollyweird. All these big shot movie directors think they can do whatever, a revisionist mentality.
Film has grain, deal with it.

Yup! I quit giving them money except for stuff I really enjoyed and want them to make more of like Star Wars Rogue One or Deadpool. Outside of that, if I really have to have it, I can torrent a Blu-ray rip from various places and burn my own disc. Blank BD-Rs cost about $0.25/disc they are incredibly cheap and the quality is much better than streaming it.
He's going to scrub the grain and it's going to look awful....then he will upscale it from HD to 4k with AI. It's going to happen. There's no point in hoping for anything else.

With Cameron being Cameron with how he treated his 2 catalogue films of the 3 4Ks put out (True Lies and Aliens), I can almost see this being the case with The Terminator for its 40th Anniversary. Instead of full-on restorations for those films, it’s almost as if the previous 2K scans or Blu-rays was utilized and just upscaled to 4K by giving it the Park Road’s Ai treatment and gave it a very limited nit boost by the “HDR” grading. If WB has their own hands on this restoration, it would be a stellar image with an optional Atmos track retaining the original SFX. If Cameron himself supervised/supervises it, absolutely not.
James wants to give us what was in his mind rather than what ended up on screen.
4k is tricky to get just right. People don’t realise that.
Yeah, could you tell them to put the original sound back in it as well because it was an 18 they’ve made it in 15 on DVD 15 on Blu-ray. The sound effect sound terrible. I want the sound effects of the shooting back as it was.

Dunno if you have heard, its coming but i think not from Warner Bros, prob not this year but early 2025 thats all i know, and what editions etc that too, so we will have to wait for the news to come out, plus Alien 3 and the sequel coming early/spring 2025 o n 4k.
It would be nice to hear from anyone that saw the 4K version in the theaters earlier this year.
The first film is better than the second by far. Let’s hope it gets the right transfer.

The Terminator was shot with a full frame 35mm camera instead of super 35 like most of JC's other films and the Zeiss lenses (including the Kubrick aka Super Speeds) that let in a ton of light so the grain should be better than his other films before he starts tinkering (though it was mostly a night shoot) - so maybe there is less to clean out and without a lot of daylight scenes, hopefully any DNR will still avoid looking waxy

MGM should not allow him to remaster it. It should be licensed out to Arrow Video or Kino Lorber to do it because at least they will do it up right.
I haven’t been charged for my pre-order of this yet so I have no problem having this on my pre-order list until it is released and I hope the cover is good & the 4K itself is a good transfer

To be honest I only care about Cameron because of Terminator and Pirahna 2. Alien is better than Aliens, Leviathan or even DeepStar Six is better than The Abyss. The only thing I remember about True Lies was JLC stripping and maybe Tom Arnold being Tom Arnold. Please Mr. Cameron do not f@ck this up😟. And yes, I pre ordered the damn steelbook and whatever else they want to sell me.

I’m looking forward to The Terminator on 4K Kenny it’s not my favorite but I do enjoy it and my favorite for me personally is Terminator 4 Salvation 2009 that’s one I grew up with watching and my first Terminator movie I watched too
Salvation is a beast of a film, truly underrated.
He will 100% f**k it up. This dude tries to get old movies to look like brand new movies despite the fact that they are 30 to 40 years old. I don't know he forgets this somehow to try to impress the 22 year old dopes.

James Cameron beats by his own drum and hopefully he continues doing it the same. If he does listen to the whiners who think they are entitled to the authenticity of a film that has a sandstorm of film grain, he should release 2 versions of the movie. Sandstorm edition and James Cameron director's edit.
I dont trust JC, will not pre-order until i know to what extent the DNR and scrub brush been applied. I had Abysse, True Lies, Alien, Once Upon Time West, really high on my pre order list and cancelled, no regrets. I'm not going paying top $$ dollar for AI DNR, wax n scrub....his seems out of control, Terminated.

The documentary explaining the lore and history of all the Bruce Lee exploitation films is worth it alone. Coupled with the fact some of these films were thought to be lost forever and theyve never looked better. Grab that set dude before its all gone, whether your into martial arts or not, as a collector its something you gotta have,thank me later!
No point in deluding yourself JC is going to scrub it that's just what he likes. He is an intelligent and successful man but this proves the old adage that there is no accounting for taste. I won't own any of those 4ks because they look weird and unnatural

He has THE most sophisticated electronics in the world,yet has to rely on AI bullshit.Forget that shit,use 4K Technology over AI crap.If it is not up to my expectations,I will return it,most likely to Amazon.I just hope that the ORIGINAL AUDIO Track is used,almost all the gunshot sounds sound like cap guns or pea shooters.And the beginning with the Terminator logo,sounding like metal on metal scraping.

Terminator 2 was the worst 4K disk that I have ever seen. I refuse to watch it again. I dig out my Terminator 2 blu-ray to watch over the 4K. That’s really sad.
No, I am not excited for Terminator on 4K, because it going to look like Aliens and True Lies is my best guess. I hate how Aliens and True Lies look on 4K. I am glad I got the Spanish version of True Lies on Blu-Ray. Aliens look so awful on 4K,too clean,oversharpen and you can see the props in some scenes and it took out of the movie.
The problem with the Spanish version is that is not a legal copy. It’s a bootleg from a “company” called Resen. What you have is an HDTV rip.

@@herdlever That 4K is an absolute disaster and the fact that a BD bootleg looks better it’s just embarrassing. That’s what I meant :) . I would never buy a bootleg from this “company” because they’re destroying distributors in Spain, but I understand that the True Lies situation has been a major issue for collectors that wasn’t solved with that horrendous UHD version.
Terminator is vastly superior than T2.
Not necessarily superior, but the 80s atmosphere and the small budget charm is a huge plus.

Why are you already bitching about the 4k releaes of the terminator. Bc it has not even been released yet and you should wait until it is released on 4k first. Bc bluray format have been on the market for10 years plus now. And we still don't have half of the catalog titles that are only available on DVD still.
