Uhh, yeah... they do. Even some cartoons and anime are filmed on 35MM and such. There's a reason why Transformers: The Movie and Akira got 4K releases because they're important movies in animation.
Sure, some can be on Blu-ray, but sometimes there's some that deserve the 4K treatment.
Sounds like your argument is one of mere principle instead of whether there's any technical difference, hence I doubt this take is changing anyone's mind without more info.
I feel the 4k treatment could help the color and sound quality. And they can go back and clear out the dirt and give it a more clear look.

@@tylerwagner1978 the restoration side of it would be worthwhile for sure...
But I am genuinely curious how they handle its HDR. There's a chance that it was originally created with a brightness range and narrow color palette specifically suited for SDR on purpose - it may or may not've been made any differently than the show, idk. My guess is that it'll maintain the same hues just more saturated, but I can see how a Southpark film purist wouldn't want that modified from its more tv roots.
Bring on the 4k for sure, I'm just curious. Spongebob feels like it'll be a more night-and-day difference than SP.
Yes. It was shot on 35mm. 35mm film resolves at 4-6K.

The 4K disc does have the sing along version. Just turn on the subtitles.
The previous Blu-ray does NOT have the sing-along version.
I projected this at a theater when it played, there were parts I’d always look down into the theater when it was crowded to see the audience reactions.
Southpark is still comedy gold!
I've got this pre-ordered. Can't wait to see the upgrade from my old DVD that I haven't watched in over 10 years!
My favorite song is Mountain Town, it's a cool introduction to the boys and their mothers
As a Canadian, my favourite so g is Blame Canada for sure. We used to sing it at my school as the time. Probably landed people in the principals office as much as telling people to suck it haha

For years, I didn't realize what they meant by "Bigger, Longer, and Uncut". Then one day it hit me and I laughed for a good bit. Movie still holds up great, as do most of the early seasons. I stopped liking it when they introduced PC Principal.
Also currently Randy hogs the show and in 2018 he forced his entire family to move to a weed farm called Tegridy Farms
I'm on the fence about this. I have it on dvd, and honestly I haven't watched it in probably 20 years. It's probably due a re-watch, but I wonder if I bother upgrading to the 4k, am I going to watch it once and then it'll sit on the shelf again for another 20 years?
I watched this with three mates at the cinema and when they started singing and realized it was a musical, “I was like WTF dude, this sucks” a la Cartman, I loved the movie!

I got all the South Park vhs. Minus the movie and the Halloween specials. And I got a promo for the Christmas tape.
I was so certain we would get a Steelbook for the 20th Anniversary back in 2019. So happy to see South Park finally transitioning to the 4k format. I live for the 90s/early 00s 👊
Hearing you mention the music video wasn't included on the US dvd blew my mind. Being in the UK, our dvd release had it, I used to watch that after the movie loads back in the day.
Looking forward to picking this up. I thought I owned the Blu-ray, but I can't find it. I think I must have just watched it on streaming.
They're releasing this movie back in theaters this month, where I live on the 23rd and 26th. I'm planning on going, definitely worth checking out.
The best was when they went to the Grammy's for the song Blame Canada in dresses and tripping on shrooms. They were trolling all the up tight celebrities the entire time until they came down off the shrooms

Ken, you appreciate the finer things in packaging and I just received both South Park & Team America from the US and the foil slips are so much nicer than the boring bland UK ones, plus a nice thin jewel case as UK's are thicker for the security tag -- foil slip & thin case, f**k yeah! 😆

Cartmans mom us my fav musical number from thus movie, but I love all the songs like blame Canada, uncle fuckr, your goingbto hell, etc, and hascthe most iconic scene if all if south park as well (suck my balls mr.garassen)
Oh yes, this is definitely worth picking up. Back when this show was much more crass and simple, still a good show but back then it was a lot less political.

I have loved south park my whole life. I had like the first 12 or so seasons on DVD growing up. Watched every episode up to that point. Watched this movie hundreds of times. Same with team America a shit ton. I love stone and Parker so this is a pre order for me. I better get my CARDBOARD! Same thing if I choose to get team anerica now
Opted to get Team America over this one solely based on the scale of improvement. That being said I’ll probably snag this as soon as it goes on sale 🤷♂️
Huge fan of South Park. I love Juvenile humor so this movie is one of my favorites of all time. The first time I saw it was on DVD and fell in love with it. Also real late in the evening they always aired it on Comedy Central. Unfortunately I missed it on the big screen because I was underage at the time. Actually when I was staying at my Grandmas we went to see Disneys Tarzan and South Park was playing 2 auditoriums down and me and my little cousin snuck in for about a minute and she never found out. Favorite song from the movie is “Kyle’s Mom is a big fat B***h because Cartman is my favorite out of the boys. This is easily a day one for me and I do have the Pre order in.

I'm that strange animal that enjoys the first twenty seasons of South Park...but the movie never did anything for me. I don't like the music and I find the whole movie to be overwhelming.... I picked up Team America: World Police, though!
I also liked the show better than the movie.
Even saying that, I did like the movie. The Sadam Hussein parts were my favorite part.
Should it be on 4k? - YES! Everything that is shot at 4k resolution should be released in 4k.
BUT- It's Paramount. So the 4k will suck balls. Paramount is the worst. Garbage QC.

I was 19 when this came out, and I saw it in theaters. "Uncle Fucker" is the runner-up for me but "Kyle's Mom's A Bitch" is my favorite song mostly because I hate Sheila Broflosky so goddamn much. I'll be picking this up for sure.
