Yeah except Nikon realized their mistake early on and now they're the 2nd mount to receive the legendary Tamron 35-150. Canon, on the other hand, expected people to simp for the R5 despite their terrible lens selection.
I love that this channel doesn’t seem brand biased in the sense that you would jump ship at the tiniest inconvenience like the announcement of Canon closing their mount to third party glass when they did. Most ppl can’t afford to up and switch systems. I invested in Canon and I don’t plan to switch to Sony. I was interested in checking out Fuji but with this sigma announcement I might finally buy the R50 as my B camera 😭. I was continuing to use my M50 with its great selection of lenses!! Just thanks again for being open and honest to all view points and for lack of better words, not snobbish 😅
I would love to have the 150-600mm or 60-600mm Sigma in a native RF mount. The EF version is probably the best sub $1000 wildlife/birding lens available.
Another reason is that many people sold their R cameras from Canon, and switched to brands who have more options in terms of glass. Looking forward to the 10-18mm and 18-50mm.
Canon needs midrange prime telephoto lenses urgently i was seriously considering moving to nikon for their PF options. and Now Sony has a Sigma 500 f5.6 as well. This should come to Canon ASAP
Make sense to start with APSC Most people own cheaper APSC Canon RF glass is expensive, even the lower end. To target amateurs to give tge a better priced option also make sense. RF APSC lacks good glass. Tamron and Sigma will pickup Canon's slack
Yeah and canon can only to so many new lenses every year , this way they can continue to push out the bread and butter rf lenses themself while they make their rfs users happy with third party makers pushing out rf-s lenses . They went from zero rf-s lenses to all the lenses I need when I buy one as a every day camera (my ff are just to big so I only use them for planned shoots )
The rumor I heard is that Canon is opening up for 3rd party lenses that don't directly compete with their own lenses. So a 24-70 f/2.8 is probably not on the table. But Canon's reluctance to invest in the R&D for those higher quality RF-s lenses checks out to let Sigma and Tamron fill that gap. Maybe we'll see Canon allow Sigma to fill the mid-range f/1.4 prime niche that is currently missing that used to be there for the EF mount. The 35mm and 50mm f/1.4 art would be a nice addition.
That’s great news. Currently I’m using EF-S lenses with a R7 camera and have to use a converter. So having a variety of native lenses as an option is great news. I have a Sigma 600mm lens that doesn’t autofocus which is a pain.
My first camera was a t3i 11 years ago, and I stuck with canon through the 5div, about 6 months ago I wanted to switch to mirroless, and Canon's lens prices and lack of 3rd party options worried me, so I switched to Fujifilm. I currently use an R7 with a Canon 17-55 2.8 with an adapter for R mount, what are the differences between sigma 18-50 2.8 these lenses? Is it worth the change? The weight difference is very noticeable, but is the quality worth it?
I shoot with an R5, with an R as a backup. I'll be wanting to buy another main camera towards the end of the year so the R5 will become my backup. If FF lenses from third parties become available for the RF mount then I'll be looking at the R5 MkII. If those lenses aren't available then I'll seriously be considering a switch to Sony. I love Canon cameras and have been a Canon shooter for decades, but the lens situation is just really annoying.
Question, not about lenses, but about circular polarizers. How often do you use them for photos? I like the feel of your shots on Instagram and in your vids. ... And I was thinking about buying a polarizer one for trips this summer. Thanks! Love your work!
I understand them coming out with the RF S first but I hope the lenses for full frame are not far behind. I have the Canon R6m2 with the Sigma 150-600 C (with adapter of course) and I like it, as I shoot wildlife mostly. But the adapter makes the buffer smaller and the iso is not as good as with a Canon RF lens, so I think my camera with a Sigma RF 150-600 will do even better. Hope they bring it out soon. But, like I said: very happy with the current combo.
Thanks. Very good points mentioned! I hope we will see very soon also third party lenses for Canon RF full frame bodies as well! Canon also needs to release more prime lenses for their RF mount!
Man...I've waited since buying an EOS R in 2021 for third-pary lenses. I saved enough money since and got the 15-35 2.8, and now Canon decides to allow third party 😂 still happy with my purchase, defintely an upgrade from the 50 1.8!
I'd like to see the whole Sigma i-series FF prime collection getting an RF mount, at least. And, of course, the top-end Art lenses are very much welcome too. I don't care about the APS-C at all. I think that it was a mistake to bring it to RF system in the first place. The EF-M was perfectly fine for those who needed it.

Or at least not as heavily, considering the entry level R8 & mid level R6II do 40fps and with Sony the only ones that do more than 15 are the high end bodies

Will be interested to hear your take on the S5IIX. The S5II has been my primary camera, but I also recently found a bargain on a used R5 and 100-500 lens for wildlife photography since Lumix and L-Mount still have nothing equivalent available. I find that JPEGs on the R5 are SO much better than those from the S5II (using custom Picture Styles via the Canon Picture Style Editor software vs. Lumix's Real Time LUTs). The Lumix RAW files are amazing for editing, but a lot of times for personal photography I don't want to spend all that time in post. But I digress... The lens selection for RF mount is... Oof. Like how is there STILL no mid-range 50mm weather-sealed prime??? It's mind-boggling that you can only get a $200 50mm F1.8 that's not worth a single penny more (no IS, no weather sealing, external focusing, no lens hood, unreliable autofocus, scritchy scratchy feel, etc.), or you have to spend literally over 10 times that much money to get a giant F1.2. The used ones aren't much cheaper either and I simply refuse. I think at least having the Sigma 85mm F1.4 and 50mm F1.2 Art lenses available for RF mount would be enough for me to switch over to Canon fully, even if there are others on my wishlist.
To stay with R5 and Canon RF and EF Canon/Sigma/Tamron lenses or move to a Sony A7 iv to start a E-mont lens collection? THAT is the question. I am not sure Canon is going to let go of the full frame RF mount anytime soon. They supposedly announced several RF f/1.4 primes that will cost 2K or more. Quality Tamron RF options and Sigma Art RF primes, zooms and Sport lenses can't arrive fast enough. Most of us in "the middle" don't want to sell a kidney to pay for RF lenses. Nice Amaran unboxing! How many times did you practice the octa setup before you got a good take? I love the channel!
I'm most likely going to make the switch to Sony..can't be waiting forever for Canon to stop playing games..plus the AF on Sony is just next level anyways
I wish Sigma would release RF lens similar to their EF 18-35 F1.8 art lens so that I can use it on my R7 without having to use an adapter like what I'm doing now with their EF-S lens
To be honest, Canon should make their lenses available on OTHER brands systems. The best things Canon has are their lenses, they have some unique ones no one else offers. They make the best glass you can get. So it makes sense why third party lenses comes to crop format Canon cameras first, because entry level Canon is just that and it makes it affordable for people getting into their cameras. But their best gear makes the most sense with Canon’s own lenses. The except would be some of the well-built high-end Sigma and Tamron zoom lenses would be great on full frame Canon cameras, if you didn’t want to splurge for the Canon lenses.
Sigma's 18-35 and 50-100 f1.8 in RF-S woild be killer. I have Canon's RF-S 10-18 f4.5-6.3, and it's fairly nice and small. But I wonder if its worth trading in for Sigma's with that constant f2.8. Plus, is Sigma gonna make an RF USB dock?
Questions about aps-c lenses. I have an R10. Will an APSc lense at 50mm give me true 50mm focal length on a crop sensor? I hope my question makes sense... still learning lol
At the moment I am looking for 24-70 f.28 with native RF mount and I would like to see something like 150-600 or event better 200-600 with not very dark aperture but more budget friendly than canon native lenses. Currently have only 50 mm 1.8 probably will stick to it until market will saturate with 3rd party lenses.
Im very new to this world of video, and photography. At least when it comes to real cameras. I understand if i would buy a ef lens, abd a adopter. If the lens is 16-35mm for a full frame. It would be like a 25-55mm on my R50. Would that be the same thing with these lens?
Hi Tony, how's it going? I love your videos, thank you so much for them. They have helped me a bunch when I first began my photography journey back in Feb this year. I am still learning all the terminologies and what SS/AP/ISO to use in different settings being , for instance, landscape or street photography or portrait photos, etc. I am currently using an old Canon 550 D with my new Sigma lens 24-70mm f2.8 and I love it. However, I am thinking of upgrading and ideally would like to better features like wifi and sensors as well a better feel of the camera. Can you recommend any for me that are Canon. Initially, I would like to do some videography in the late future when I am more comfortable with photography. Please and thank you. Essentially, my budget would be within the $700 (£650) range as I live in the UK.
I was really hoping to see the 18-35 f1.8 from sigma on RF mount. I was thinking about getting the EF 18-35 f1.8 and adapting it for my r7. Now I’m not sure if I’ll want the RF 18-50 f2.8 or the EF 18-35 f1.8.
Starting with APS-C lenses is also a good approach because you catch the people who are just starting out and if they decide to go full frame in the future, they will look back at the experience that they had with those lenses, and if it was a good experience, they would keep with the brand
I’m going to buy a smaller aps-c camera as an everyday camera next to my ff cameras. Plan was to buy from another brand cause canons lens line was non existent only …all of the sudden they have all the lenses I need and I dont have to buy from another brand. Nice canon
I shoot with my r7 witch took me along time to afford and even longer time to afford the 24-70mm 2.8l lens I have with it. With no other lenses I'm willing to buy in my budget the 24-70mm takes care of most my shooting needs. Iv been wanting a fast wider angle lens so that 11 20mm 2.8 is a God send for me. I'll be able to get a fast wide angle lense finally without having to sacrifice quailty canons budget 10 to 20mm I think it is is like 400hundref but it feels really cheap and it's variable aperture. These fast wide angle apsc lenses are amazing for me. I'm not planning on going up to full frame anytime soon the r7 is extremely capable it takes hits in autofocus with it jumping focus alot. But for the price and what you get I think it's the best bang for your buck. And lowlights capabilities are decent good enough. And for me to Juno to a camera that has the same amount of features for the price I'd need to go r5 or r6m2 and thats just to much money for me to drop right now especially since I shoot photography for fun not for money witch a large amount of ppl do
I’m in a predicament where I want to get rid of my r7 it’s great but I need a third party lens and canon although a good camera for beginners it is horrible in terms of $
Canon already makes the best lens, and it's also the best value lens, for Canon mirrorless cameras, with the RF 200-800, for the fantastic price of only $1900. What is Sigma going to do that is any better than that ??? ....I guess I should say > for my purposes :) Honestly, I kind of trip on all you typical wide shooting guys, that you can't find a good lens offering already ? Talk about splitting hairs. Try finding a good 1280mm combo. You have only 1 choice.
Thoughts? Feelings on third-party lenses? What lenses do you want to see first?
Sigma 30mm F1.4
Also a buget zoom lens

Sigma rf 60-600mm would be epic
finally, love to see the 28-70 C Lens from SIgma for travel.
just would love A 24-70 art full frame it would be nice !!
For example, my dream camera combo would be the Sony A7R V paired with the Canon RF 28-70mm f/2, and some of the other Canon RF lenses
I am waiting for the Sigma RF 135 Art f/1.8 and a Sigma RF 200 f/1.8 Art lens to com out.
I dont know how many people "first" camera was APSC mine was full frame the R6, so I wanted to see Full Frame Lenses Released Rather than apsc lenses
Questions about aps-c lenses. I have an R10. Will an APSc lense at 50mm give me true 50mm focal length on a crop sensor? I hope my question makes sense... still learning lol
No
Bought an r10 literally yesterday. Awesome news!
150-600mm would be a lens I would like to see for the rf mount from sigma
The Sigma 14mm f1.4 for the astro shooters out there!
I just want the 35-150mm 2-2.8 already
Blud has infinite boxes 😂
300k+ subs, you must be doing something right, but to me your pacing was a bit chaotic. Made me feel anxious
Jokes on you I already have third party RF glass, the one and only SAMYANG 85MM!!!!!
What about the R100? I have one
I’m assuming there will be limitations like with Sony on things like FPS for photos and maybe there are other things also…but you get a “deal”.
Starting with APS-C lenses is also a good approach because you catch the people who are just starting out and if they decide to go full frame in the future, they will look back at the experience that they had with those lenses, and if it was a good experience, they would keep with the brand
Sigma 85mm f1.4 art
And we still waiting 😮
Sigma and tamron gonna have so much of my money. 😂. I always waiting for rfs lens.
I’m going to buy a smaller aps-c camera as an everyday camera next to my ff cameras. Plan was to buy from another brand cause canons lens line was non existent only …all of the sudden they have all the lenses I need and I dont have to buy from another brand. Nice canon
Canon back into game🎉🔥
Sigma’s 105mm f/1.4 Art !!!!!!
well tamron already has a bunch of canon mount lenses which i own one...24-70 f2.8 ii
About Time!
The sigma 30mm 1.4 C is amazing so it'd be awesome is canon also got it
My Canon R100 wants a Sigma third party lens attached to it.
And for me to Juno to a camera that has the same amount of features for the price I'd need to go r5 or r6m2 and thats just to much money for me to drop right now especially since I shoot photography for fun not for money witch a large amount of ppl do
fullframe when
I’m in a predicament where I want to get rid of my r7 it’s great but I need a third party lens and canon although a good camera for beginners it is horrible in terms of $
RF 18-35 f1.8 and 50-100 f1.8
I predicted this would happen at some point in time in 2022. I was WAY off 😅
A few years late, but hey... it's finally happening! 😉
I just want a drop in filter but rf
Can I use these lenses on my R8 ?
Yes but they will put the camera into crop mode
@@ronjenkins4257 ok thanks. I think I will buy the R10 or R50 as a companion to my R8.
I too have an R8 and am thinking the same.
Either a 50 or 85 1.4 with IS!
Canon already makes the best lens, and it's also the best value lens, for Canon mirrorless cameras, with the RF 200-800, for the fantastic price of only $1900. What is Sigma going to do that is any better than that ??? ....I guess I should say > for my purposes :)
Honestly, I kind of trip on all you typical wide shooting guys, that you can't find a good lens offering already ? Talk about splitting hairs. Try finding a good 1280mm combo. You have only 1 choice.
35 mm 1.4
2024.08.09.... stilll no zooms... canon is a dreamer...
Full frame ??
Nope. Not yet
@@CAMphotography_ teasers!!!
I wish the 60-600
