The sponsor bit is so great!
Oh let’s go it’s another risk free with a 30-day money back guarantee 1 cent a month guarantee!
I get an error: 404 We couldn’t find that page.
I have had NordVPN for around a year and it's filled with bugs. i don't recommend it
That has to be one of the best ads I've ever watched
😃
Then you have never seen an Internet Historian ad.
More production value than the actual vid. Props to 2buck20
The stuck train wagons work in my head canon - it's a railway town, a new development wanted to reflect this and bought some old good cars to place on its land, despite trains never actually going there in reality.
Sure, it's a bit corny and false, but that's what people visiting the town associate with it, so the hotel hopes to lure them in by pandering to their expectations.
Maybe the story could be that the rail line to the island New Dollarton sits on once ended somewhere in that village as it was the hill that was first settled in the region. There could be some remnants of an old station on the coast near the town.
What's next, Pain, Suffering and Cities Skylines 2 2: Electric Boogaloo
couple of ideas:
- the train line at 14:08 got abandoned due to a massive derailment of a train containing hazardous materials, you could do that by putting some train props near the rail tracks. The train on the top of the plateau could become a custom park, as a memorial.
- the slope at 14:22 is insane.
anyway, have a great one 2.20
Just leave volumetric clouds on and disable volumetric clouds cast shadows on the advanced settings tab, should get the effect you want
Drew Dollars is back :) im sure your sponsors appreciate and enjoy the effect you put in
My god mate. Obviously I love seeing you build, but this episode felt so painful to see and hear you struggle... Jeez man, I feel sorry for you. Hopefully the devs are gonna up the functions of the game soon. Keep it up friend!
New Development name: Calamity Heights. Coz you know... It was.
21:30 it actually functions as a hotel, cause it sells Lodging. Also, Plop the growables mod should have "make historical" feature, as well as disabeling zone check. that NASTY bug could've been avoided lol
24 lane super highway pretty please.
24 lane rail line*
@@aturchomicz821 HELL YEAH
12 is good enough lol
You could turn the train cars into a home and just cover it with trees and add some stains and props
This is the first time I've ever sat through a full video sponsor ad. Not only was this the best nord VPN ad I've ever seen hands down the best RUclips sponsor bit. Love it 😂x
That ad skit was amazing lmao
you need to optimize your public transit routes to get people off taxis into the busses or whatnot
Doesn’t transit mean nothing in this game though
@yaboiandrew2058 This game is such an insult to the Simulation-Strategy genre holy--
a staircase going down from the top of the hill in the new neighbourhood to the waterfront would look really nice and be very functional! like the one going from the colt tower to the embarcadero in san francisco!
What I learnt from the Cities:Skylines franchise:
SAVE REGULARLY!!!
I suggedt you make that forest to a reserve forest left to become the citi's lungs.
Since New Dimesburg has a lot of trains in it's history, I imagine those carriages as an outdoor part of a train museum. Also, I feel like that forest near the "New Development" needs a sawmill. Not a big one, but a decent one.
21:14 The commercial building sells lodging so I guess it even functions as a hotel.
I think you should build a little railway station. Maybe somewhere next to the new development and next to the bridges? That would look cool Plus you said that you could expand Sterling street that road would make a perfect access to the station.
You should make a third little hamlet called Sallyton! Maybe it was made as a little fishing village on the coast, but now makes money from tourists renting getaway houses!
How about Springside, and have it be a beach town
Fear and loathing in New Dimesburg… it’s painful to watch the struggle, but I can tell the bones of a great game/engine are there. Unrelated, but those grain hopper railcars stuck on top of the hill scream “brewery” to me. If you put a silo up there, that building could definitely be some kind of craft brewery.
You have the most organic, interesting builds on youtube. Just figure out your issues with the game to make sure you don't give up on the build 😆
Personally, I like the current size of the island you're building on. Please keep it as is.
For detailing that sunken expressway, you could look at the JFX in Baltimore - sunken expressway with an Amtrak line running parallel right atop a river
Well, there was hope for Oceania for about 2 episodes…. Too bad
I know it was a massive struggle for you, but I really appreciate your efforts. Thanks!
I really hope a Cities Skyines II version of Marble Mountain, will probably make it more beautiful, I winder why you stopped making MM videos also.
MM became too big/laggy to be able to do really anything, he also hit a prop limit or something i think.
@@androgynousblob4835 The save file was corrupted
I think a good name for that neighborhood is balkenaken. balk stands for pole in dutch because its on a elevation and balkenaken is a name of a city in belguim named Bastenaken in dutch but bastogne in English and its in the Ardennes.
Glad to see the new episode!!! TO do with your new highway/freeway you wanna put through your city it might be a good idea to go underneath the city instead to allow for less disruption to current infrastructure and allow to on and off ramps to be integrated without too much disruption
Great build, also even more impressive how you stayed persistent even throughout the glitches and bugs!
For district names: One thing I’ve done is I had a district named Bridgeview due to a major elevated highway running throughout it. My advice is to take a striking unique feature (the elevation above the city, wealthy neighborhoods, etc) and name the development off of that. Hopefully tie it to the currency trend youve created.
This is by far the best episode I have seen from you. And an absolutely fantastic add.
For the stuck train pieces, have you tried the debug menu? If memory serves, you should be able to use under the simulation tab something called “toggle object manipulation” or something similar. If you won’t be able to delete it through there, you should be able to at least move it. I use that to move broken vehicles causing traffic jams. I drag the broken car elsewhere and it recalculates the pathing and usually fixes it. Worst case scenario it is out of the way.
Glad to see back at it despite the major issues. Terrific work!!!
Look where taxis are going, that's a good indicator for where people want to go but there is no public transport available ;) You can add bus lines there instead.
A lot of old train lines were repurposed in the US as walking trails, so you could add a train line under the trains itself to support the trains for realism, while creating a pedestrian walking path down the hill, it will add walkability and realism.
That bus station you created is super slick!
I had a big problem with my city because I placed so much stuff with the plop the growables without care that 20% of the pop became homeless.
I resolved it by removing outside connections and exclusively placing homes.
The query for find home became so huge with 20k homeless cims that the game started to slow down A LOT.
i’m so eager to see the city expand and become what you’re envisioning. like i keep imagining how crazy the city is gonna be a year from now. with all the issues you’re having with the game, i would of quit for sure. so thanks for pulling through! 10/10 on the thumbnail too lol
Thanks for persevering, great video. Actually loved the ad, lol
Have to admit, that segue was pretty damn good.
The new development could have been an old fort turned armory/ammo plant that shut down. Train cars were leftovers that brought in solid propellants and the commercial building was the HQ building. Put some old tunnel entrences both for rail and pedestrians around the hillsides to denote both the entryway for the rail and maybe fallout shelters or underground storage/escape tunnels.
You’re the reason I started playing the first Cities Skyline, keep up the great work 🙏🏻
That second bridge would make sense for that old train line in the new development, being they closed it and then had it converted
the rail carriges could be weird airbnbs
Just caught up with your content. I have to say, you and Infrastructurist are the only 2 content creators who seem to understand how this game should be approached. Well done sir 🥇
Teardrop valley. The road laid out looks like a teardrop and because how the episode was 😂
The city only needs brick row houses
Starting to take shape, love it!
this game needs a hill building asset pack, where the contours dont change and textures on the bottom are designed to be able to look proper no matter which sides showing
That train car could be a kitsch tourist attraction, like those AirBnBs "unique stays" - _"stay in an old train car for the night!"_ type thing. It doesn't even need to have context then; it's just a hotel manager who saw a business opportunity, found some old train cars on Craigslist, and decided to capitalise on tourists looking for something fun to post on their Instagram. Just like in the real world!
That’s exactly what I was thinking!
Genuinely can't wait for the next episode! This was a funny one too, brightened my week!
I hope they paid you well, cuz that ad was insanely well done LOL
A sponsored ad that I actually don't want to skip past! I actually want to watch it again! 😂
Shoehorn lake next to river would be fire and a challenge to build around.
Could be where a really old dock was when the river flowed there but it got cut off or something
I think you need to start using the autosave feature more if possible. Let it autosave every 5 minutes or so, at least you avoid losing too much progress in case the game crashes like this.
Instead of incorporating the train into a hotel instead make the area a train themed park, they usually have a few full sized wagons and then some tiny rideable trains or model train sets in buildings, along with the rest of the stuff parks usually have
Oh how I long for new Sunset City 🌅
Really funny add. Loved it!!
I feel your Pain 😞. Your Add thou, Very Good loved that bit ..
at first i thought the 16 lane highway was too much but by the end of the episode it looked perfect!
Plop the growables mod has a "lock building level" feature, it acts as a historical building button when you click on a building.
Can’t wait to see the highways come in!
I know this is taking a lot of inspiration from Jersey City and Hoboken. And I'd say that rail line you have currently paralleling the cliffside would be better as a tram line. It's actually what it currently functions as in real life. It helps get folks north and south of the Hoboken area into Manhattan across the water at the Hoboken train station. As they transfer to the PATH either to lower Manhattan or midtown.
40:08
Hm, so maybe a sporadic European-style bus network?
Like, one connecting central station to the industry park up north through the city center, one connecting central station with the east, one with the west, an east-west connection through the city center and an express bus line that runs from outside the map to a park and ride situation.
Oh, and a connecting line for people who work at the taxis but don't have a car of their own to get to work.
...or, make a tram network.
38:50 How about Dime point?
Always love your vids! Btw you can unlock a historicalize button with mods and maybe turn on auto saves ;) cause I autosave every 5min(bit overkill ik)just to be sure and its just a short lag and your work is saved. Also there is a mod to Change between variations of assets without placing the ones you dont like, I sadly dont know the names rn but just search for the most recent code-mods and you will probably find them
I really like the wavy part of the road over the rail
No need to imagine mate, the building sells food and lodging, therefore it IS a hotel.
That was one heck of a segue
37:30 is realistic america. you really captured it!
13:22 Yes! Dont make it abandoned i recon that it will be good looking if you connect it to penny vill😊( or penny will😅)
"People still move in regardless of how it looks or how it's serviced"
Ironically - I want there to be a mode for that. I want to treat CS1 and CS2 as sandboxes. For me, the simulation is just flavor. I just like watching it. I don't care about the gameplay element. What I want to do, is build.
For the traffic light at 33:06, there is a mod called "Traffic Light Enhancement" that lets you modify the traffic light settings. There is also the "Traffic" mod (similar to TM:PE's lane connector tool) where you can use that to modify turn lanes and that type of stuff.
I think the solution to that interchange at 33:15 is to prevent the cross traffic.
It reminds me a bit of that intersection at Broadway on the USYD corner. Cars attempting to cross from the Princes Highway straight into Bay St constantly mess with the traffic flow there... not to mention the multiple near misses I witnessed when i used to work there, both pedestrian and vehicle alike.
Some of the "unused" railway lines could be also turned to (instead of only pedestrians) bus only roads, tram lines, and some over-parts of a subway network (sharing/linking with trains and trams even ?). For your public transportations.
33:22 You should remove the little one ^^
Wow! Another great $2.20 video!
Maybe in a future episode you could try to make some dedicated historic neighborhoods in your city
King Street reminds me of the don valley parkway in Toronto
you could build a national park, kind of like kings park in WA. Have botanical gardens, parks, cafes, a lake??
get that bag two dollars twenty yeah
The constant crashing with the mods is one of the main reasons I haven't revisited this game. I never remembered the mods in the first game giving me this much trouble.
You made a nord vpn ad almost bearable. They normally make me want to jump off a cliff. Congratulations on this major achievement! We shall be watching your career with great interest!
I like the rail cars there, sometimes people just end up with stuff they need a place for. Maybe the owner of the hotel just ended up getting those rail cars from friends or family and didn't want to get rid of them, or bought them at an auction of some sort and thought they would make for an interesting monument at their business. It is unfortunate that they're hoppers and not passenger cars, else you could have turned them into a café of some sort.
I’ve got lumbago tho
Unc?
Grocer Heights was far away from the stink of manure and slaughterhouses. There used to be a short electric freight interurban that delivered produce and meat up the steep grade. Eventually, they were replaced by trucks. The locally owned hotel commemorates that historic past replaced by big box food retailers.
my game crashed few days back after building for 4,5 hours - didn't realise auto save was turned off and first thing i did afterwars was turning it back on, would recommend doing that to everybody
Love this city. But it could use some detailing and a reworked downtown in New Dimesburg, Feel like it's a little flat and barren with all those parking lot's at the back of Downtown. I already know you will be doing this at some time, but it could add so much to the city...
Bus station needs a big roof. It's begging for it
New Development could be something like Pennyton or Nickleville or Dimemond Lake or Quarterly Estates.
I sugest the following names for the new development: Prawn Heights, Buck-han Heights
My biggest issue with CS2 and the one I notice the most the most is how hotel rooms don't seem to show up correctly on the statistics tab (even if the production chart shows a production surplus)
You never know when this series would end. CS2 is still broken af
Fear and Loathing in Cities Skyline II - I felt the pain mate. Prost from Konstanz.
best ad reads around
Maybe a related bug, but I'm finding in my cities that periodically a few random zoned buildings will lose pedestrian or vehicle connectivity for no apparent reason. It can be easily fixed by just using move it on the buildings, but it's getting really annoying seeing them pop up constantly.
"one more lane will fix it"
I feel your pain! But love the incorporation of the zombie rail waggons... I think I must have ended up nuking mine!
hi, can you tell me if the map you upload in thunderstroe can i found it on PDX MODS? thx
