My favorite button on my stream deck is the END button. At the end of my work day, I press this button and all work windows are closed and apps quit, clearing up space and resources for gaming time.
I pretty much use my stream deck for everything you mentioned but one thing I love using it for is mods! When I am playing on a custom server like FiveM, there are several slash commands that will do several things like call an NPC Tow Truck when my car breaks down, open the mod menu, etc. It starts to become difficult to keep track and remember each of the commands which has been a constant pain. The Stream Deck simplifies all of this by you creating custom buttons for each command and giving them a custom icon of your choosing. This makes entering commands not only super easy and fast, it also gives you a visual representation of all your commands; making it very easy to keep track of them all. So if your playing games with mods or just play games that have commands you frequently use (i.e. Lethal Company) then the Stream Deck is a fun and very useful device to have.
I use my stream deck XL for work. I send a lot of repetitive messages throughout the day, so I have common phrases saved. Press the button and it types the message, sends the message, and moves me on to the next waiting message needing a reply all with the push of 1 button!
I have a XL stream deck that I use for work and play. For work I've used super macro (bar raider) to disconnect and connect to our various VPNs and OKTA websites. (There are about 10). While gaming, I use a super macro toggle button for the RUN command in games..helpful when I have to run across a large map while gaming.
My main use cases: - Startup/shutdown my work, game and stream environments - Switch between virtual desktops - Switch between scenes in OBS - Lots of actions in Cubase - Cycle through my RGB scenes
I use mine with HWInfo and monitor system temps, usage, etc. and Spotify control, Playlist, etc. I use my Sound Blaster X4 to switch between speakers and headphones and for audio input from consoles
Using it to play PC games could be a very nice thing for lefties like me. My WSAD is the 'Arrow Keys' and then anything after that is whatever combination of 'Enter, Shift, Right Crtl', 'Insert, Home etc' cluster and the number pad that I can TRY to make as ergonomic as possible. Hint: It's rarely possible.
you know you can just buy numpads and macro pads that are much nicer than streamdeck for exactly what you are saying, many are wireless and they have programmable rgb and you can switch the keyboard switches and caps for many of them and they are like 3-4 times cheaper.
The Home Assistant plugin is a better option than the IFTTT, and cheaper if you can get your hands on a razpi or put it in a Docker container if you've got a NAS. I use the LED controls and the smart plugs for a 3D printer that can display power consumption, turn the printer off/on and send scripts to the OctoPrint controller. I also use the Pihole enable/disable plugin for getting to some of those legit things that Pihole blocks for whatever reason. Great video, would love to see a follow up!
Stream Deck is great for games with text-based commands. I have mine set up with 2 pages for Roleplay on GTA. One page with general actions, one page with emotes.
I'd love to see a similar video to this, but with the Go XLR. I've been tempted to get one even though I don't stream for some of those neat audio features.
I set it up to run these things: Programming: Run macros, build tasks, SSH login, VSCode commands such as snippets, bookmarks, debug, view logs Gaming: Run macros, issue communication/chat command, send pre-defined chat messages Smart Home: Control smart light bulb, run ITTT commands Music: control Spotify, quick play my favorite playlist Input/output: Control audio input/output, quick mute & preset volume settings Info Panel: Date/time for cities around the world, currency exchange rates, stock price, bitcoin price Screensaver/Gallery: have StreamDeck display my favorite picture
I think I would use all of them except the last one. Since I have Home Assistant running locally, I use the Home Assistant Stream Deck plugin instead of IFTTT. And I plan to get a few more of them (Stream Decks) to expand on what I can do; several will be dedicated to specific applications, such as the Stream Deck + for audio, and one Stream Deck XL for the game Starfield.
I have my cpu & gpu temps on my stream deck thru the Icue plugin, very nice if youre overclocking and dont wanna melt ur parts. Media keys are huge for me, i have a 60% board so its nice to be able to skip and pause my music. If you use spottily def use that plugin so you can pause youtube videos and your music at different times.
Yeah, I have my stream deck setup to turn my lights on and off, my fan, and to charge my phone. I also have it setup as a timer. I have it go from 30 seconds, to 17 minutes in 30 second intervals. So when I'm cooking something, and I'm using my headphones, I'll hear the alarm go off in my headset, letting me know to flip something, or that my food is ready. I have it set for my VR, just push one button, and it turns on all my lights, changes the audio to the headset, starts the software, and I'm ready to go. Then when I'm done, it returns everything back the way it was. Voice Monkey is a free skill you can use to control you home devices, and that's how you can trigger them from your stream deck. It's pretty easy to setup, but I would recommend looking up a video on how to do it, makes it very simple to do.
I didn't decide between Elgato Stream Deck + (w KNOBS) , just 15 Key Stream Deck or Megalodon Triple Knob Macro Pad. I'm thinking to buy the nob Controller too to make a Combo. Which one you will choose base in your experience?
i just got my hands on a stream deck plus and i have to say the most usable thing for me would be having the mini displays to show my GPU/CPU usage% and temperatures, all those macro and programmable buttons i just have as a button mapped to my G buttons on Logitech keyboard. and sadly those dials arent really supported by elgato plugins, atleast not yet
Teaching I set up three Mini,Mk2 XL to bring me to my grade 4 google classroom assignments and enter all of this with one push ("Is your name and date on the paper? Is the name or page number of the assignment above the first line on the left? hehe first time I notice a youtuber using their hand to press something while recording/filming .. I guess it's a way to quickly split the video to make editing faster after .. or maybe to scroll the text of what he needs to say .. you know elgato sells pedals as well ? ;p
The Windows Mover plug-in doesn't do anything. I'm guessing it doesn't know how to handle multi-monitor setups. I want to take an active window and move it to the edge of a screen. Simple. Looks like this isn't an option. Can't find any documentation for the plug-in on the developer's page. A idea for a worthwhile plug-in would be one that would allow me to push a button and have my work windows open and move/resize to their correct locations. THAT would be huge value. I was hoping this plug-in could do that.
well im not a gamer.. i like sounds effects during a stream when it comes to a topic that lame or funni or exciting like the Vikings " viking horn " im excited to try something new to bring to my streams when i am live
I wonder if you can create new key binds that doesn't exist for, for example, minecraft with a ton of mods added requiring key binds for each of them. I'm using a modpack with so much mods that i don't have enough keys on my keyboard for every controls of each mods. 😅😅
i know your comment is two weeks old but you could use the F13 - F24 keys. Just make a hotkey on stream deck and select one of those and then press the button when you change your minecraft keybinds
Have the 15 button streamdeck like the one in this video, I have sounds on my soundboard set up and can hear them through my headphones when I press the button, but nobody else can hear the sounds on discord? What’s the easiest way too fix this? Thank you
I play left handed and me using my stream deck in place of the left side of my key board would work perfectly for me but I don't know how to set that up
I'm an engineer I work in a lot of different programs, Solidworks, CREO, OrCad, Altium, fusion. Plus all Google meetings emails etc, audio config. I wonder what kind of gamer who does not stream would actually even have stream deck! This gotta be sponsored right ? At least mention that its sponsored if it is!
There are no screws that attach the back piece, to the ACTUAL stream deck piece. It's unsecure, and the only way to keep it upright on your desk is by a fucking USB made in Taiwan. Waste of Money; will return.
Would you send me one for free ,I would love to get my hands on a steam deck ,it's ab unbelievable price of kit ,😢shame I can't afford it ,you could send me one out of good will ❤

Bought the 15 button one for my 17 year old son! He used it a couple of times! Hasn’t been used in 2 years now

It's utterly ridiculous that the mouse and keyboard companies don't make gamer specific ergonomic mice and keyboards / game key pad for left handers 😢
