    This also looks like it would be perfect for elderly people who EXTREMELY don't understand the internet. Family of theirs could set one of these up so all they have to do is tap a single button to bring up whatever video call app, a button that brings up a recipe book, or a button that launches a photo album. Stuff like that.

    It's very useful as a macro pad for sure! I mainly use mine for website shortcuts, controlling my lights as well, OBS for recordings and scene switching, and miscellaneous things additional actions come with, like CPU usage, mouse coordinates, and the color of the current pixel. I haven't thought of using it to launch programs yet, so I will definitely consider trying that eventually and other things that look useful. I currently hit the Windows key and quickly type in the program without thinking about it and AutoHotkey for common programs and shortcuts using my left hand. Would also consider it as well.

    This is pretty much how I use mine, a tip for Premiere is you can use multi-actions for things like changing clip speeds. I just set this up on mine and it simply presses Ctrl + R, types the speed numbers and presses return. Now I have a selection of buttons for five different clip speeds, saves a lot of time if you're making regular changes.

    i'm really looking forward to more (real) compaction entering the market, so the prices come down. stream decks are absolutely awesome, but they are painfully overpriced considering the simplicity of the hardware and software, and the mediocre build quality/materials.

I'd always wanted a system control panel for Startrek and similar games (arm / launch torpedoes, com PTT button, Sensor scan etc) since I bought them in the 80s - but the tech then had 8x8 or so resolution on programmable buttons and I'd have to write code to control and use them. I just bought one for my livestreams. I heard that it was a extra luxuory though. First when I started streaming, not knowing about what I need and had to do, I bought one, but I send it back, because I thought it was an actual capture card. But, now that I got my Holliday pay I was like ''we're not going on vacation this year, so might as well buy myself a stream deck now''. So I did. I kinda was affraid that only 16 buttons wouldn't be enough. I have a lot of sounds that I use on my streams (meme's mostly). But I also heard that you were able to make maps, and sub maps or somethang. So I was kinda lookin' for a video where it all got explained, and not only from livestream perspective, but also from different perspective like this video. So thanks a bunch for the clear explanation, I really appreciate it. It was a clear explanation. I also have one (actually three, but it's all on one lamp) Philips Hue, and I often use it when it get's dark in here so people can still see me. And like you said, I have to pull out my phone (which I often use to watch my own livestreams to see what's up) and open Hue app and so on.
    I will get it tomorrow (it's on its way for delivery) so that's why I wanted to look more into it.
    My memes are now on my keyboard. I use all of my number keys on the right, and some trigger stuff on my stream (scenes) and if I wanna share my livestream for example on Facebook, I often type stuff like ''We just went live my guy, come hang with us, send us your own levels, make us suffer and have a laugh''. But imagine me typing this, while you watch my livestream, and I have memes and sounds under the following keys; a, e, i, o, u, w, q, n, b, y, t, l, k and more... This makes a lot of noize...! So I bet the streamdeck will come in handy :)

      Well, to be very honest. The stream deck really is an blessing for my streams! Now I have a lotta commands and triggers and sounds from the soundboard on it, multi actions, shoutouts for other channels that visit me, raid button for when we raid other channels and so on. It is definitely a great help. Its way better than using my keyboard haha.
      Using all my stuff is super eazy now, and it makes it also a lot more professional than my keyboard making all kinds of noises when I type stuff hihi. So if you haven't got one yet, and you're thinking about buying one, it is a true help, so I'd recommend them to everyone for sure.

    • @astollie
      @astollie 2 года назад

      @@PRGames_ Thanks for your reply. Indeed I am orienting myself to this utility. Actually by surprise. I am not a streamer, so I had ignored some post on hardware info about the streaming deck. A week ago I have bought the K95 keyboard from Corsair. My idea was to lighten up the keys I use as a shortkey in various programs. I am a fan of macros, and I made some macros in autohotkey, some of which are quite advanced and elaborate. By highlighting the keys per programme I could find them more easily. Then I saw that the K95 has 6 extra hardkeys on the board, and so that appeared handy to me. I decided to give that a try.
      When I started to configure those keys I encountered this option to use the Stream Deck Software... Holy shit, a new world of possibilities opened up to me! I am super enthousiastic, and I think one should go for the real thing the 32 keys XL, although, I think it is overpriced. So I a now in a doubt as well about the investment, as well to safe myself spending a day on programming something, saving just seconds. Although I must say the fun in the esthetics of working flowless has a value by itself.
      At this moment I decided I will do a step by step approach. I will go on configuring the hardware keys on my K95 (talking about esthetics, it's a christmas tree on your desk if you want.). Learning to use the Stream Desk software. In the meanwhile instead of having the icons on the keys on the Stream Desk have the 6 icons on my screen. I'll start using it in Zoom during the classes I give.
      I fancy I may end up soon buying the Stream Desk XL, when this proves helpful.

    • @PRGames_
      @PRGames_ 2 года назад

      @@astollie Yeah for macro's it's indeed better to have a keyboard who has that option. I'm not really into macro's myself. Although, I do have some specific programs on my keyboard for my games sometimes (for example, Command & Conquer which is a very old game, but still gold! I use it to press F buttons once, and make the program build 100 tanks at once, instead of that I have to press it 100 times myself 😹 I use the SteelSeries Apex3 keyboard).
      The Stream Deck is indeed super dope. Although, and even if I want the 32 key myself too, I do think it's an overkill. Unless you have enough money, and are like ''okay, not sure what to do with these €500 (I live in the Netherlands, so we have Euro's) that I have here''. The 15 key stream deck (which I have) has infinite options already. I mean, just make maps under maps under maps under maps, and you can go on like this forever haha. It's endlessly for as far as I know. Although, 32 keys would be a little more easy to find stuff of course. But as you already said, it is overpriced. And I agree with that haha. One day I do hope to get one as well. But, when the price is right. And also, my 15 keys Stream Deck is not broken yet. So I ain't really in need for another one. Once it breaks I do think I will be buying the XL as well. Because, well, it does have it's pros of course.
      Good to hear you're also happy with the Stream Deck. For myself, I can't imagine a stream without my Stream Deck anymore. Even my viewers know when and how I use it haha. Besides, it is fun for my son as well. He is 9, and he often is in my stream too, he often aks me ''dad, can I press memes again?'' It's cute, and fun. It's a little different with a keyboard. I didn't want him to have my keyboard, because this could also trigger other stuff when pressed the wrong button. Imagine him ending my stream with my keyboard for example. Not even sure if this is possible (never tried it). But it would suck big time haha.
      So, even the 6 keys would be great, because the options are endless. I got the 15 keys, which is super dope! I want the XL one day, but when the price is right. And it might be overkill. But hey, if you have enough, why not right? 🤗 Enjoy the Stream Deck hihi.

    If I ever get a designated gaming space/setup for DND home games, I think this could serve a lot of functionality towards that as well. Being able to change lighting and music on a whim, or creating presets for them, seems pretty cool to me.

    Question: Does the deck detect which program you are currently using and does it change its buttons accordingly? I mean, when in Photoshop, I need other button-assignments then in MS Word, and it would be very convenient if you don't have to manually change the button-set when you switch from one program yo another.

    Hi! I created a profile for google slides because I use it often to create digital teaching resources. But I can't for the life of me figure out how to code the following shortcut to my stream deck: CTRL+ALT+E+CTRL+ALT+V
    This normally will add vertical guides, but it requires 2 CTRL pushes and the stream deck stops recording my hot key presses after the first CTRL+ALT+E.
    Is there a workaround? Please help!

    I set up a bunch of hotkeys for my mage in WoW.
    Teleport folder with all the cities, Portal folder for all the cities, conjure food/water, crafting etc.
    It allowed me to completely remove two action bars -making the in game UI A LOT cleaner.

    Howdy, I recently turned one of my Arcade cabinets into a Steam Powered cabinet with a PC. I want to use one of these just so I can switch between games. SF6 etc. I want to know if I can put a button to be able to open and close a game then another button to open another without my keyboard. So say I play SF6 for 1 hour then I want to play KI so I press a button to shut down SF6 and another to open KI without using my mouse at all. Can it do that?

      Sure, the opening part is pretty self-explanatory from the video, for the closing part:
      Select Plugin ▼System ➜ Open
      In the App/File field, enter: cmd.exe /c taskkill /your_application.exe /t /f
      That's it!

    • @TechTesseract
      @TechTesseract  Год назад +1

      Yep, anything you can do with a keyboard you can do with the streamdeck, for shutdown it would be
      Select Plugin ▼System ➜ Open
      In the App / File field, enter: shutdown /s /t 0
      Btw this website is great for recipes on how to do a bunch of cool stuff with the stream deck!

    I use mine for war thunder for gaming. Far too many keys to remember in that game and so many I use to not even bother biding them before. Now I have them all visually displayed at 1 press of a button on my xl version. Totally missed opportunity not having this pushed for gaming imo.

    I've bought a XL the other day, mainly for flight sim games, was a cheaper and more versatile way to get buttons for flight simulators, some equipment costs hella lot, but I'm looking forward to using it in some different games, I've already been amazed by the simple switching between audio outputs and inputs :D

    I'm an architect. I bought my stream deck as a macro pad for CAD software, and photo editing software. Big productivity asset, and reduced frustration with complex keystroke commands. Cable and stand both suck.
    Buttons are lube resistant and easy to clean. This makes the ESD good for monitizing fap sessions via my GILF porn uploads on Porn Hub.😅
    I give it 4 out of 5 stars.

    There are no screws that attach the back piece, to the ACTUAL stream deck piece. It's unsecure, and the only way to keep it upright on your desk is by a fucking USB made in Taiwan.
    Waste of Money; will return.

Instead of having 500+ icons littering my screen and tie up my 2 side docks, I can use this to launch Games, Play music, Open folders I need for Modding, Tools etc... This dock pays for itself in convince instantly.

    Where a stream deck will absolutely help is if you are suffering from RSI ( repetitive strain injury) or mouse arm . Especially when using windows the stream deck will reduce the amount of clicks tremendously.. I used to have this problem 10 or more years ago and used a software called hot key, which sort of did the same thing .it might even still exest

    I got one and the last time I think I even pressed a button on it was like 8 months ago
    Edit: By the way, it says it's not recommended for use with USB hubs, and I tested mine and it worked just fine, but had a strange smashed-screen like flicker to it that almost looked like white noise visualized. It might have done something else to it that I'm unaware of, since I haven't used it in so long and sorta just forgotten it. It's a neat tool if you are constantly opening things and doing things, but it has next to no use in gaming.
